Review 1: ZCWO 1/6th scale United States Riot Police "Shawn" 12-inch action figure

This was from my earlier haul in December 2014 (posted HERE)

Battle in Seattle is a 2007 political action film and the directorial debut of actor Stuart Townsend. It is based on the protest activity at the WTO Ministerial Conference of 1999. The film premiered on May 22, 2008 at the Seattle International Film Festival.

The film depicts the protest in 1999, as thousands of activists arrive in Seattle, Washington in masses to protest the WTO Ministerial Conference of 1999. The movie takes an in-depth look at several fictional characters during those five days in 1999 as demonstrators protested the meeting of the WTO in Seattle's streets. The movie portrays conflicts between the peaceful protesters and a minority committing property destruction whose actions were widely covered by the media. Although the protest began peacefully with a goal of stopping the WTO talks, police began teargassing the crowd after it refused to clear the streets and the situation escalated into a full-scale riot and a State of Emergency that pitted protesters against the Seattle Police Department and the National Guard.

This is the ZCWO 1/6 scale United States Riot Policeman "Shawn" 12-inch figure which has been released recently, along with the ZCWO 1/6 scale United States Riot Police "Mason" action figure (You can check out the preview pictures of "Mason" HERE). There haven't been that many Riot Police 12-inch figures released. The attention has always been on the Police S.W.A.T. teams (see my post HERE of the 1/6 scale S.W.A.T. figures I have collected over the years). I only have the Dragon Models Limited (DML) 1/6 scale Royal Hong Kong Police Police Tactical Unit 12-inch figure that was released in 2002 - posted HERE so it's nice to see a variation from the norm for Police Officer figures.

Scroll down to see the rest of the pictures. Click on them for bigger and better views. Being a rather new subject matter, I took quite a lot of photos and in this first-part review alone, there are 32 pictures posted in this entry.

As I mentioned earlier, the cover picture for the ZCWO 1/6 scale United States Riot Police "Shawn" boxed figure set (preview pictures posted earlier HERE) looks more like a scene from a post-apocalyptic future than a riot scene which I think ZCWO was trying to portray. The 12-inch figure is placed in the main tray with the extra gloved hands, helmet and megaphone when the lid is lifted. The 1/6 scale accessories are found in the bottom tray.

ZCWO 1/6 scale United States Riot Policeman "Shawn" 12-inch figure comes with: riot helmet with shield, gas mask, police uniform, riot protective gear including body vest with shoulder protection, elbow pads, forearm protectors, leg protectors, police duty belt with pistol and holster, double pistol magazine pouch, handcuff pouch, baton / night stick, radio in holder, gas mask pouch, plasti-cuffs, baton, riot shield, loud hailer, various gloved hands

Police Officers usually don't wear military boots but shoes. These are the 1/6 scale Magnum shoes worn by "Shawn"

Here's ZCWO 1/6 scale United States Riot Police "Shawn" 12-inch action figure in almost complete riot protective gear (minus helmet) with megaphone loud hailer. First try to reason with the rioters / protestors.

Pepper spray, also known as OC spray (from "oleoresin capsicum"), OC gas, and capsicum spray, is a lachrymatory agent (a chemical compound that irritates the eyes to cause tears, pain, and temporary blindness) used in policing, riot control, crowd control, and personal self-defense, including defense against dogs and bears. Its inflammatory effects cause the eyes to close, taking away vision. This temporary blindness allows officers to more easily restrain subjects and permits people using pepper spray for self-defense an opportunity to escape.

Although considered a less-than-lethal agent, it has been deadly in rare cases, and concerns have been raised about a number of deaths where being pepper sprayed may have been a contributing factor.

Pepper spray is an inflammatory agent. It causes immediate closing of the eyes, difficulty breathing, runny nose, and coughing. The duration of its effects depends on the strength of the spray but the average full effect lasts around thirty to forty-five minutes, with diminished effects lasting for hours.

hello Alex,

I have an importan issue about this set, its head in particular. Last month I bought the head from this set on e bay. When it arrived at my place, it occurred to me that the rubber part inside the head (the one you put on the neck balljoint - don't know it's proper name) had been glued inside. I can't remove it. And I can't exchange the rubber or put it on a different neck balljoint...

I reported the problem to the seller and they claim that it's a popular custom of gluing/fixing the rubber inside the head of many brands. The excuse seems odd to me, especially that they named one of DAM Toys heads which I own and the rubber was free to be taken out without a problem - contrary to what they claim. And I own many 1/6 heads and never had such a problem with any of them.

Have you (in your 1/6 career) ever encountered such customs among 1/6 makers - gluing/fixing the rubber inside the head?? Or is it just the sellers silly excuse?

Thank you for your concern and sorry for the inconvenience.

best regards from Poland
