This was part of my March 2015 haul (see my previous toy blog post HERE)
Guardians of the Galaxy is a 2014 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Brash space adventurer Peter Jason Quill (Chris Pratt) finds himself the quarry of relentless bounty hunters after he steals an orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain. To evade Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with four disparate misfits: gun-toting Rocket Raccoon, treelike-humanoid Groot, enigmatic Gamora, and vengeance-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when he discovers the orb's true power and the cosmic threat it poses, Quill must rally his ragtag group to save the universe.
This is the recently released Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS255 Guardians of the Galaxy: 1/6th scale Star-Lord Collectible Figure with authentic and detailed likeness of Chris Pratt as Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy film. The funny thing is Peter Quill is the one who calls himself Star-Lord and nobody else seems to know him by that name LOL
One of the funny / comedic scenes in the film happens when Peter Quill / Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) is arrested by the Nova Corps. While being processed before he is sent to prison, Quill winds up his finger and flips the bird at the officers who are processing him. Casting director Sarah Finn had suggested Pratt to Director James Gunn, who dismissed the idea despite struggling to cast that role. Despite this, Finn arranged for a meeting between the two, at which point Gunn was immediately convinced that Pratt was perfect for the role. Pratt also won over Producer Kevin Feige, despite having gained weight for the film "Delivery Man". Prior to filming, Pratt underwent a strict diet and training regimen to lose 60 lb (27 kg) in six months.

Here's Hot Toys MMS255 Guardians of the Galaxy: 1/6th scale Star-Lord Collectible Figure straight out of the box, wearing light gray tee, red long coat with distress effects, a pair of dark gray pants, and a pair of brownish red boots with boosters.
During an interview about the character, Pratt said of Peter Quill / Star-Lord, "He had a hard time as a kid, and now he goes around space, making out with hot alien girls and just being a rogue and a bit of a jerk, and through teaming up with these guys, finds a higher purpose for himself", he also added that the character is a mix of Han Solo and Marty McFly.
Check out the close-up pictures of the 1/6th scale Peter Quill / Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) head sculpt that comes with this Hot Toys MMS255 Guardians of the Galaxy: 12-inch Star-Lord Collectible Figure. That is one amazing sculpt which captures the character's look very well.
Star-Lord has an earpiece around his right ear (non-removable) which is a universal translator used for communicating.
These are the 1/6th scale accessories that are included with this Hot Toys "Guardians of the Galaxy" 12-inch Star-Lord Collectible Figure: Figure stand with Star-Lord nameplate and the movie logo, Interchangeable masked head sculpt with LED light up function (red lights, battery operated), portable audio cassette player with headset, real-like plasma orb, two guns, three extra gloved hands and sling pack.
The Interchangeable masked head sculpt with LED light up function is very nicely detailed and the battery compartment with switch is well hidden.
Check out the nicely done 1/6th scale portable audio cassette player (it's a Sony Walkman!) with headset. You can see the writing "Awesome Mix Vol. 1" on the cassette tape. Peter Quill values this item a great deal and will do anything to get it back. It's probably because it's the only thing that reminds him of home (Earth). Young Peter Quill (Wyatt Oleff) was listening with headphones to "Awesome Mix tape no. 1" on his Walkman when he was abducted by a spaceship in 1988.
The mysterious orb that Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-lord (Chris Pratt) retrieves from a laser enclosure on the planet Morag. He later finds out that the orb contains one of the Infinity Stones. This small tiny thing is the reason everybody's chasing and fighting each other in the movie.
Next: Star-Lord's sling pack in 1/6th scale. Just like Indiana Jones, every adventurer needs a bag to keep his stuff. On that note, it seems almost everyone is really keen for Chris Pratt to play Indiana Jones next. Going by what he has done with the Star-Lord character, he certainly looks the part. We all get to see him chasing after dinosaurs this year in Jurassic World, the continuation of the popular Jurassic Park franchise.
Three extra gloved hands are included: one pair of palms for holding guns, and one right palm for holding the orb.
The additional "bird" hand I posed this Hot Toys MMS255 Guardians of the Galaxy: 1/6th scale Star-Lord Collectible Figure with is NOT included with this set. The left hand with middle finger comes form the DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade J 12-inch figure. You can check out the review HERE.
