Smuggler. Scoundrel. Hero.
Han Solo is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, portrayed in films by Harrison Ford. In the original film trilogy, Han Solo, captain of the Millennium Falcon, was one of the great leaders of the Rebel Alliance. He and his co-pilot Chewbacca came to believe in the cause of galactic freedom, joining Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa in the fight against the Galactic Empire. Star Wars creator George Lucas described the character as "a loner (hence the name "Solo") who realizes the importance of being part of a group and helping for the common good".
Han Solo is introduced in Star Wars (1977), when he and his copilot Chewbacca accept a charter request to transport Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, C-3PO and R2-D2 to Alderaan on their ship, the Millennium Falcon. When the bounty hunter Greedo tries to deliver him to Jabba, Han shoots him (Yes! I believe Han shot first) and leaves Tattooine for Alderaan.
I believe Han Solo is one of those characters almost everybody knows. At least the people I know all know who Han Solo is. Otherwise they wouldn't be 'my people' LOL but seriously, anyone who knows Star Wars has to know who Han Solo is and it's been a long time since we had a decent 1:6 scale Han Solo figure. Sideshow tried (check out my toy blog post HERE), Medicom Toy tried ((see my action figure review HERE and HERE) but I think we finally have a definitive Han Solo 12-inch figure. Who better to produce an excellent Han Solo than Hot Toys, right? I think this is the best it's going to get.
This is the recently released Hot Toys MMS261 "Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope" 1/6th scale Han Solo 12-inch Collectible Figure (from my October 2015 haul, posted on my toy blog HERE) which specially features: authentic and detailed likeness of Harrison Ford as Han Solo as seen in the original 1977 Star Wars film with movie-accurate facial expression including detailed wrinkles and skin texture. Let's get on with the action figure review :)

Standard shoe-box packaging for Hot Toys MMS261 Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope 1/6th scale Han Solo 12-inch Collectible Figure features their Han Solo figure on the box cover and inside flap. The standardised black box design for all Star Wars products can be rather boring and unimaginative which is why Hot Toys added a dash of color to the inside flap to show what might have been.
Removing the flap reveals the Han Solo figure in the tray with all his accessories: blaster pistol, droid caller, Millennium Falcon headset, interchangeable hair sculpture, various interchangeable hands including gloved hands and specially designed figure stand with Han Solo nameplate and movie logo
Instruction Sheet for Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6th scale Han Solo 12-inch Collectible Figure. The normal hair sculpt can be replaced with the alternate one for wearing the headset. The collar has wires built in and can be styled accordingly.
In order to equip Hot Toys Han Solo with the Stormtrooper belt (only available for special edition), you have to take off his regular belt which involves removing his right boot and then sliding the belt down the figure's leg after unfastening the belt from the back because front buckle does not function for the sale of movie accuracy. The usual assembling / dismantling of the figure stand, tilting of the head and being careful while handling the figure applies.
Here's the figure display stand with Han Solo nameplate and movie logo, along with three pairs of gloved hands, alternate hair sculpt, Millennium Falcon headset, pair of regular hands, DL-44 heavy blaster pistol and droid caller
Close-up picture of Hot Toy's 1:6 scale DL-44 heavy blaster pistol and droid caller. The DL-44 heavy blaster pistol was considered one of the most powerful blaster pistols in the galaxy, delivering massive damage at close range. Possibly the best known duplicate of a real gun, the DL-44 blaster pistol prop was built from a Mauser C96 handgun, sometimes with a sniper rifle scope. The modifications are obviously added on to the exterior, though the distinct "broomhandle" grips are still wooden.
Here's Hot Toys MMS261 "Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope" 1/6th scale Han Solo 12-inch Collectible Figure (approximately 30 cm tall newly developed body with over 30 points of articulation) wearing off-white V-neck top, black vest, brown belt, brown leather blaster holster belt (quick-draw holster), navy pants with red pattern (Corellian blood stripe), and black leather boots. He is armed with the DL-44 heavy blaster pistol, weapon of choice for Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and the Rebel Alliance. The weapon is also seen been wielded by Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) throughout The Empire Strikes Back.

What do you think? Does the head sculpt resemble Harrison Ford as Han Solo?
