VTS VM-013 1/6th scale New Epoch Cop 12-inch figure aka Olivia Thirlby Judge Anderson Review

continued from previous toy blog post...

I AM THE LAW

Dredd is a 2012 science fiction action film directed by Pete Travis and written and produced by Alex Garland. It is based on the 2000 AD comic strip Judge Dredd and its eponymous character created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra. Karl Urban stars as Judge Dredd, a law enforcer given the power of judge, jury and executioner in a vast, dystopic metropolis called Mega-City One that lies in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Dredd and his apprentice partner, Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), are forced to bring order to a 200-storey high-rise block of flats and deal with its resident drug lord, Ma-Ma (Lena Headey).

Olivia Thirlby portrays Judge Cassandra Anderson: A rookie Judge and genetic mutant with powerful psychic abilities. Anderson can sense the thoughts and emotions of others. Thirlby contrasted her character with Dredd's "black and white" perspective, describing Anderson as existing "in a grey area where everything is enhanced or clouded by the fact [that] she knows what is going on in the very interior of a person". She undertook weapons and combat training, learning to perform a roundhouse kick to make her believably physically commanding. The character was partially inspired by singer Debbie Harry.

This is the recently released VTS VM-013 1/6th scale New Epoch Cop female action figure inspired by Olivia Thirlby's Judge Anderson character from 2012 Dredd movie. The figure is very nice with amazing detailing and quality finishing.

The box is pretty much nondescript and lacks captivating graphics or pictures. I think it's supposed to be like that because VTS (which everyone knows is the movie branch of Dam Toys) doesn't want any attention to be directed at the box packaging containing the figure. Collectors know who New Epoch Cop is based on ("I am the law" is a very good clue / hint) and since it is unlicensed, better not draw attention to it. The figure is contained in the main tray with all her accessories stored in another tray at the bottom.

Quite a fair bit of accessories and they all go on her duty belt (mostly). I was a bit disappointed with the Heckler & Koch MP5A3. Towards the end of the film, Judge Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) uses a Heckler & Koch MP5A3. The weapon is not even souped up to look futuristic and is used as it is.

The "Lawgiver Mk. II" is the standard pistol carried by the Judges in the film. Prop wise, the Lawgivers seen in the film appear to be Glock 17 pistols housed in futuristic shells. The Lawgiver is coded to its owner's DNA, and will self destruct if anyone else attempts to use it.

All the pistol magazines have the Judge's Eagle emblem / symbol etched at the bottom which is unique to this figure.

Here's VTS VM-013 1/6th scale New Epoch Cop female action figure aka Olivia Thirlby's Judge Anderson all suited and geared up for duty. Check out the turnaround views.

Scroll down to see the close-up pictures of VTS VM-013 New Epoch Cop 1/6th scale head sculpt. Does she or does she not look like Olivia Thirlby? I think she looks a lot better than Art Figures' version (see the preview pics HERE).

Check out the pictures of VTS VM-013 1/6th scale New Epoch Cop 12-inch figure aka Olivia Thirlby Judge Anderson with helmet on and gun drawn. The 1/6th scale Lawgiver Mk. II has nice details including the digital display on the side that keeps track of its remaining ammunition. All the Judges have to learn to fire the weapon with their right hand though since the display is shown only on the left side of the gun.
