Bandai 1/6th scale Star Wars Stormtrooper Review II - now with DLT-19 Heavy Blaster Rifle

continued from previous toy blog post...

If you haven't checked out this Bandai 1/6th scale Star Wars Stormtrooper Plastic Model Kit, you really should. It's a cheaper alternative than all the other 12-inch Stormtroopers being offered in the market and it has the full range of articulation without the restrictive body suit that impedes movement and poses. Having done the first action figure review post earlier HERE, I decided to take more pictures of this Bandai model kit Stormtrooper but this time armed with the DLT-19 Heavy Blaster Rifle (comes with open and closed bipods) which is actually based on the World War II-era German MG34 general purpose machine gun.

You don't really see the Stormtroopers shooting with the DLT-19 Heavy Blaster Rifle. Most of the time they are firing with their E-11 Blaster Rifle which is based on another WWII era weapon, the British Sterling L2A3 submachine gun. Because Star Wars creator George Lucas believed strongly in the "used universe" concept where all devices, ships, and buildings looked aged and dirty instead of the traditional sleekness of science fiction, the weapons were based on real weapons so that audiences could feel a familiarity to a galaxy that was supposedly far, far away. For this Bandai 1/6th scale Star Wars Stormtrooper Plastic Model Kit, even the weapons had to be assembled, including the SE-14C Blaster Pistol, which began as a Swiss Rexim-Favor Mk5 submachine gun. All three weapons are included with the kit and no glue was required. Every part connected easily and stayed connected without any problems.

As mentioned previously, the Bandai 1/6th scale Star Wars Stormtrooper Plastic Model Kit once assembled poses well and can hold quite a number of poses without falling over. The belt is nicely done and is not a mix of materials like Hot Toys version. I also like the ankles of this Bandai Stormtrooper. That is another nice detail that's missing from the other 12-inch Stormtroopers. The two Blast Energy Sinks are well thought out and constructed, something that's not easy to achieve. The holster can hold either the E-11 Blaster Rifle or the SE-14C Blaster Pistol without any issues.
