Ultraman Taro Henshin Cyborg by Takara

Already covered Medicom's Ultraman Taro in the previous post.

This is Takara's Henshin Cyborg Ultraman Taro released in the early 70s (that's more than 30 years ago now and condition's still GOOD). The Henshin Cyborg figure was based on the popular 12" (1/6 scale) Combat Joe body (also known as Japanese GI Joe). The toy featured clear Combat Joe figure with visible "cyborg" and "atomic engine" innards. Costumes from tokusatsu series such as the Ultraman and Kamen Rider were released and the Henshin Cyborg could be outfitted with these costumes. The concept is similar to Captain Action.

Henshin Cyborg Ultraman Taro

Close-up of Takara Henshin Cyborg Ultraman Taro head/helmet

The central fin on his head is not punched through as it's supposed to be, like the Medicom version.

There's a copyright stamp engraved near the base of his head/helmet

The back of Ultraman Taro's costume has the zipper for dressing the figure and changing costumes. The helmet has a cut/slit at the back for putting over the head.

The silver band on his left glove/hand is supposed to represent his Taro Barcelet. Takara didn't even bother to paint the details in, unlike the very detailed collectibles available today, thanks to the advances in technology.

Still, for a TOY figure made in the last century more than 30 years ago, it's a very nice piece that has withstood the sands of time.
