The company might have changed its name but it hasn't changed its focus, not like some other company which can't even get a platoon together ;p DAM (previously known as VTS) will be releasing their fourth Task Force Ranger 12-inch figure soon and this time it is based on Eric Bana as SFC Norm "Hoot" Gibson (based on real-life combatants from Delta Force - SFC John Macejunas, SFC Norm Hooten and SFC Matthew Rierson) from "Black Hawk Down", the 2001 American drama war film depicting the Battle of Mogadishu, which was part of Operation Gothic Serpent and was fought on October 3 and 4, 1993, in Somalia, between forces of the United States, supported by UNOSOM II, and Somali militia fighters loyal to the self-proclaimed president-to-be Mohamed Farrah Aidid who had support from armed civilian fighters.
Task Force Ranger consisted of C Squadron, 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (1st SFOD-D) — aka "Delta Force" + Bravo Company, 3rd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment + 1st Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) (The Night Stalkers) with MH-6J and AH-6 "Little Birds" and MH-60 A/L Black Hawks + Combat Controllers and Pararescuemen from the USAF 24th Special Tactics Squadron + Naval Special Warfare Development Group (Five Navy SEAL operators) + CVN-72 USS Abraham Lincoln & Carrier Air Wing 11
In the film "Black Hawk Down" based on the book of the same name by Mark Bowden which had detailed accounts given by the actual people on the ground, Eric Bana stars as Delta Force operator SFC Norm "Hoot" Gibson (based on SFC John Macejunas, SFC Norm Hooten and SFC Matthew Rierson). This is the 1/6 scale Delta Force Sergeant First Class 12-inch figure from Task Force Ranger of Operation Gothic Serpent (circa 1993 Somalia) that will be released by DAM Toys.
DAM: Delta Force Sgt.First Class - Task Force Ranger - Operation Gothic Serpent - 1993 Somalia (DAM NO.93004) will come with 1/6 scale Real-like head sculpt and 12-inch figure body, Pro-Tec Helmet, AN/AVS NVG, NVG Battery pack, TC-Goggles, OD GI T-shirt, Desert Battle Dress Uniform 3-color desert, US Flag patch, PT Body Armor, OMEGA Custom TC-vest, SF Chest Rig, S Belt, LC2 Canteen and canteen cover, LC2 Ammo pouch x 2, ALICE Butt-pack, Universal pouch, Radio pouch, NVG Pouch, Smoke grenade pouch, Double pistol mag pouch x 2, Nomex Flight Gloves, Holster, Knee Pads, GSG9 boots
Also included: MX300R Radio, Single Side Traveler Headset, RO727 carbine, Flashlight with gunmount, M16 Magazine x 4, M1911A1 .45 Pistol, .45 Magazine X 4, M67 Fragmentation grenade x 2, M18 Smoke grenade, Flash bang X2
The 1/6 scale head sculpt don't look much like Eric Bana but I don't mind that at all because unlike in superhero movies where it's important to get the head sculpt right, Black Hawk Down wasn't just any made-up movie but a movie based on actual events that occurred and the team that fought there was made up of more than just one man so it's good that this is a nice head sculpt that could be anyone who was really fighting over there
This figure will go nicely with all the others that have already been released and in my possession but yet to be reviewed - a case of too many toys and too little time haha BUT we'll get to that soon, I promise :) Needless to say, these figures being released by DAM are pretty top notch and the price doesn't hurt either. So I'm looking forward to this figure to hit the market as well ;p

hey Alex,
mate when will u do a review on these, cant wait to c if u recommend any in particular! ;3 also with the team leader I think arts have released a similar one but diff colours, which would u go for? a DAM one or the ARTs one?
hi Sabretooth, I bought the whole set of six figures but haven't had the time to open them up and do a review yet. All six have boxes that combine to make a diorama which is why I didn't get the Arts one because the diorama would be missing one piece.
