Slam Dunk (スラムダンク Suramu Danku) is a sports-themed manga series written by Takehiko Inoue about a basketball team from Shōhoku High School. It was first serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump in Japan from 1990 to 1996 and had also been adapted into an anime series by Toei Animation which had been broadcast worldwide, enjoying much popularity particularly in Japan, several other Asian countries and Europe. Slam Dunk centers around Hanamichi Sakuragi, who starts as a delinquent outcast, becoming the leader of a gang. Hanamichi, being very unpopular with girls, has been rejected by them fifty times. Yet, he finds out that Haruko Akagi is the girl of his dreams, and is happy when she's not scared of him like all the other girls he has asked out.
Asmus Toys will be releasing this 1/6th scale Hanamichi Sakuragi 12-inch Figure from the Slam Dunk manga / anime series. He's wearing the Shōhoku High School basketball team jersey with 1/6 scale basketball and this figure comes with 3 heads. Scroll down to see the different expressions.
What makes Japanese anime / manga unique is the facial expressions that characters have when in extreme situations, good or bad and Asmus Toys has endeavored to capture that with this release :)

For the price of S$140, this figure really doesn't do justice to the character, esp the headsculpt. Only AJ1 shoes look good, & maybe the Q-version headsculpts.
This one looks way better, though is a statue. Supervised by Inoue Takehiko himself.

I really like him,but in the other hand is such a expensive figure. I wouldn't ´t buy it. I bet the price will get low.
let's hope so ;p
Hey just found this figure on ebay for $109 free shipping, which I think is a GREAT price with the fact you get three headsculpts. I have A HUGH collection, not as vast as yours (of course) and I've been a customizer and kitbasher since day one. I think I can get a really cool "bash" out of this dude.. Trying to decide whether to go with a "modern urban swordsman look" or some kind of "anime BLEACH look".. Might do both.
That's a GREAT price for the figure :) CONGRATS on getting a good deal. Thanks for sharing. Now how about sharing pictures once you are done kitbashing haha Enjoy the figure ;p that's the spirit. Don't be hoarding them like I know some people do. Why buy the figure to keep it in the box? Open and appreciate it. CHEERS
I'm a true you fanatic I guess you can say, I open them up RIGHT AWAY!! I examine their detail, craftsmanship, adjust this, fiddle with that, Dude I even love that "new toy smell" LOL.. In fact the ONLY figure I plan on leaving on the box is the last release of SUPERMAN, the Christopher Reeves MASTERPIECE and that is because I bought another one to pla......... Ummm I mean pose and display HAHA. I have about 1000 figures and just as many 1/18 diecast cars which is what I PREVIOUSLY collected, but in the last 3-4 year 1/6 action figure a taken leaps and great bounds in terms of technology, craftsmanship, rendering and unfortunately price so I had to solely focus on 1/6 figs. I'm quickly running out of shelf space, and to be honest I feel relieved when a new preorder comes out and I don't like it LMAO... But I NEVER regret paying for a great Toy!! Viva the collector Dude!!
I think I just found my long lost twin LOL all that you have said, I totally agree and understand :) I also love to pla... I meant pose & display my figures (who cares that I'm a father of two grown-up teenage boys - 18 & 15) just as long as I enjoy what I do and that is to appreciate the fine craftsmanship & details these companies put into their products. Space and storage is a HUGE issue for me too but try telling me to STOP haha I think you'll have to kill me first! Viva 1:6!!!
