Darth Vader Dark Contemplations: Volcanic fire seethes and spits at his feet as the molten river roars, its rumblings an echo of his own agonized howls on this blackened shore five years gone. The lava's glow bathes him in scorching heat. Encased in that black armor, he feels nothing.

Sideshow Collectibles Star Wars Mythos line has been making waves and I'm very impressed with the sculpting, especially for their Ben Kenobi, Desert Nomad Mythos Statue (see the stunning pictures HERE). But alas, they are still statues after all and hence non-poseable :(

I think the people making the statues know the limitations of the product - one fixed pose cast in stone (literally) - hence their innovative effort to include alternative masks / portraits and arms / weapons but still, statues are statues. They do not have fabric outfits / costumes nor ultra detailed and removable accessories and gear as well as weapons that we 1/6 scale figure collectors have come to admire and appreciate.

At least with this Star Wars Mythos line, there's an attempt to be different from the norm.

Strangely, Hot Toys seem to be going into statues as well, having previewed their first PPS001 Iron Man 3: 1/6th scale Power Pose Mark XLII Collectible Figurine recently. You can see the pictures HERE

The backstory says that this Star Wars Mythos Darth Vader statue depicts the unprecedented portrayal of the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader's return to Mustafar. And the statue seems to show quite a lot of battle damage on Darth Vader, as if he had fought a big battle with someone as good as him because many parts of his costume have been cut and damaged, including his chest piece.

The question I ask is: Who did Darth Vader fight on Mustafar on his return? Certainly not Obi-Wan Kenobi since Obi-Wan cut off his remaining organic limbs (Vader's left arm and both of his legs) when they last dueled on Mustafar.
