Falcon (Samuel Thomas "Sam" Wilson) is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Gene Colan, and introduced in Captain America #117 (Sept. 1969). As the superhero Falcon, Wilson uses mechanical wings to fly, granting him limited telepathic and empathic control over birds. Samuel Thomas Wilson, known as the Falcon, was the first African-American superhero in mainstream comic books, and also the first black superhero not to have the word "black" as part of his superhero name
Anthony Mackie portrays Sam Wilson / Falcon in the 2014 Marvel Studios film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and reprises his role in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Ant-Man (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and is set to reprise his role in its as-yet untitled sequel (2019).
