POP TOYS 1/6 scale Style Series X15 Super Juvenile Hero Windbreaker and Schoolbag Suit

“With great power comes great responsibility”

POP TOYS 1/6 scale Style Series X15 Super Juvenile Hero Windbreaker and Schoolbag Suit looks like it's meant for a certain wall crawler who loves web design. Who am I referring to? None other than the amazing Spider-Man Peter Parker, played by Andrew Garfield in the latest film series of our friendly neighborhood superhero.

In the Amazing Spider-Man 2, Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker / Spider-Man continues his fight against crime and seeks to put criminals away, especially the ones with super powers. When not swinging around in New York, Spidey blends into the crowd and tries to live a normal life like everybody else. For that, he needs regular clothes, not a superhero costume.

POP TOYS upcoming 1/6 scale Style Series X15 Super Juvenile Hero Windbreaker and Schoolbag Suit will come with: Woolen coat, Long sleeves T-shirt, Jeans, Schoolbag, Gym shoes. Note: 1/6 scale head and 12-inch figure body in the pictures are not included. The outfit is suited best for the HOT TOYS TTM21 narrow-shoulder men's body

Last haul for June 2014: Sideshow 1/6th Storm Shadow, Greg Capullo Batman and Talon figures

This is my last haul for June 2014: Sideshow Collectibles COBRA Ninja Assassin 1/6 scale Storm Shadow 12-inch figure, All-New DC Comics Designer Series: Greg Capullo Batman and Talon action figures.

I don't own many 12-inch figures from Sideshow's G.I. JOE A Real American Hero 1/6 scale figure series. This Storm Shadow sixth scale figure is only my second Sideshow G.I. Joe related figure (Storm Shadow belongs to COBRA, enemy of Joe and is not a Joe himself). The other figure I got was also an enemy of G.I. Joe, a Cobra Saboteur who goes by the code name: Firefly. Check out my review and pictures posted HERE, HERE and HERE. I was excited for the Sideshow G.I. Joe line until they released pictures of their first figure, Snake Eyes (posted HERE) which turned out to be a huge disappointment in terms of look and price. Since then, they have tried to remedy it by releasing other versions of Snake Eyes but they still failed IMHO The Snake Eyes that stand out for me is the Hot Toys G.I. Joe Retaliation: 1/6th scale Snake Eyes 12-inch Collectible Figure which I also reviewed HERE, HERE and HERE

I don't get many smaller size action figures these days even though that's how I started on this toy collecting journey / hobby / passion as I much prefer 1/6 scale (12-inch) action figures with their life-like realistic head sculpts, many points of articulation under their fabric outfits / uniforms / costumes including removable accessories, weapons and gear PLUS overlapping armor (sometimes with individual armor plates) for armor figures; light-up features; interchangeable parts for more display options and so much more! However, once in a while, some smaller scaled figures still catch my eye and even though they are made completely of plastic, I find myself drawn to them. DC Comics Designer Series: Greg Capullo Batman and Talon action figures are just two of them. Read on to find out why :)

Another Figure Club The League of Shadow Ninja Shadow Master and Apprentice 1/6 action figure

If I didn't know better, I would've thought that Figure Club only does Henri Ducard action figures. This will be the third "Ducard" Ninja Shadow Master 12-inch figure to be released and the third 1/6 scale Liam Neeson as Henri Ducard head sculpt from Figure Club. I have already reviewed the Figure Club 1/6 scale The League of Shadows "Ducard" Ninja Shadow Master figure earlier in my toy blog HERE and HERE and also previewed the Figure Club 1/6 scale The League of Shadows "Ducard II" Ninja Shadow Master figure HERE but this time around, Figure Club will be releasing The League of Shadow Ninja Shadow Master and Apprentice 1/6 action figure, the key word being "apprentice".

If The League of Shadow Ninja Shadow Master is supposed to be Liam Neeson as Henri Ducard / Ra's al Ghul, then the apprentice has to be Bruce Wayne / Batman (Christian Bale) from Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins". We have never seen a Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne Ninja Warrior figure before although I did kitbash a 1/6 Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne, League of Shadows Ninja in "Batman Begins" (pictures HERE)

Figure Club The League of Shadow Ninja Shadow Master and Apprentice 1/6 action figure (only 150 pieces will be made available worldwide) will come with 2 Head Sculpts this time (Master ~ Ducard Head sculpt, Apprentice ~ Bruce Head sculpt, Male Base Body x 1, Master Face Mask, Apprentice Face Mask, Apprentice scarf, Normal Hands, Gloved-hands with Armor x 3 pairs, Master's Boots with Armor, Apprentice's Boots with Armor. Detachable Samurai Armor (Chest  / Shoulders / Arms), Master's Tassets, Apprentice's Tassets, Ninja Clothing Set, Master's Katana (Black) made of Metal die-cast, Apprentice's Katana (Sliver) made of Metal, Leather-like Scabbard

Review III: Hot Toys 1/6 scale Die-cast Iron Patriot 12" figure with Don Cheadle head sculpt

continued from previous post...

Having reviewed the box packaging and contents earlier of Hot Toys MMS195-D01 Movie Masterpiece Series Die-cast 1/6th scale Iron Patriot 12-inch Collectible Action Figure from "Iron Man 3" in my toy blog post HERE followed by the light-up features of die-cast Iron Patriot HERE, it's time to take a look at the 1/6 scale head sculpt with authentic likeness of Don Cheadle as James Rhodes / Iron Patriot that's included with this figure. NOTE: No Don Cheadle head sculpt was included with War Machine Mark II collectible figure which is also die-cast.

The 1/6 scale Don Cheadle as Iron Patriot head sculpt comes with two interchangeable masks / faceplates (one is fully closed and the other one is slightly opened) which are attached to the helmet via magnets. It snaps nicely in place and is fuss free. You can almost see the eyes under the mask / faceplate because the eye slits are clear, unlike the LED light-up helmet which is white.

The Iron Patriot armor appears in "Iron Man 3" as the new paint scheme of James Rhodes's upgraded armor after being asked by President Ellis to be used as the U.S. government's "American hero" symbol thanks to A.I.M. in response to the events that occurred in "The Avengers". After the Iron Patriot armor is stolen by Aldrich Killian's Extremis-equipped soldiers, Eric Savin poses as Iron Patriot in order to abduct President Ellis. Later, Rhodes recovers the Iron Patriot armor and rescues the President.

Preview Kotobukiya Marvel Comics Avengers Marvel Now! 1/10 scale Iron Man ARTFX+ Statue

A Kotobukiya Japanese import! Marvel Comics is the next great property to get Kotobukiya’s ARTFX+ statue treatment, and so of course the first series is none other than the Avengers, specifically the characters as they appear in Marvel Now! In 2012 the comic book company relaunched several titles, shifting some characters into different books and updating some for a modern audience. More than anything, it provided a perfect jumping on point for new readers. Now the characters are brought to life as never before based on concept artwork by superstar artist Adi Granov. The latest Avenger to join the team is Iron Man, who completes the lineup of Earth’s defenders with his previously released allies Hulk, Black Widow, Captain America, Hawkeye, and Thor!

Created in 1963 by a group of comic book luminaries (including Stan Lee and Jack Kirby), Tony Stark was a rich playboy whose capture during the Cold War led him to create a technologically advanced powered armor suit bristling with weapons and science-fiction gadgets. Best known for fighting enemies such as Mandarin and Crimson Dynamo, Stark would over the years combat his own personal demons as well, making him a very nuanced and interesting character popular the world over. While he would continue to improve and upgrade his armors, the brilliant industrialist / hero would also help found the premiere Marvel superhero group the Avengers and fight with them all the way into the current Marvel Now! Universe.

With a fresh start Tony appears there with a brand new suit of Iron Man armor featuring a sleek design and a bold black and gold color scheme! The Iron Avenger stands at the ready, turned to his side as he raises his right hand to aim a repulsor at the enemy. Iron Man’s armor is intricately detailed with layers, panels, vents, and other technological components like secondary repulsors, and the metallic paint really makes it shine.

Get a kick out of Kotobukiya Tekken Tag Tournament 2 1/7 Nina Williams Bishoujo Statue

A Kotobukiya Japanese import! The hit line of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Bishoujo Statues continues! With its thrilling martial arts action, the Tekken series of video games from Namco has been a huge hit with players since the original arcade game in 1994. In the games, fighters compete in the King of Iron Fist tournament for control of the Mishima Zaibatsu Corporation, using their unique talents against their opponents. Next up after the noble fighter Jun Kazama is the bloodthirsty Irish assassin Nina Williams! Appearing in every Tekken game since the first and her own spin-off Death by Degrees, Nina makes her triumphant debut in the Bishoujo series based on an all new illustration by Shunya Yamashita.

Showing off her martial arts prowess, not to mention her muscular physique, Nina Williams poses just for you as she stands on one leg with the other preparing a lethal side kick for an unseen opponent sneaking up on her! The tough fighter looks great from any angle as she turns in mid-kick, looking behind her as she leans forward over one straight leg. Nina wears her unique combat suit, part blue and purple camouflage, part metallic silver, and part black straps. Her incredible sculpt captures all of the details of her clothing down to the creases in her boots as well as every curve of her taut muscles. It’s easy to overlook Nina’s deadliness for her beauty, but watch out for that kick!

Check out Kaiyodo Revoltech highly articulated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figures

UPDATE Feb 2015: In-hand actual pictures of Revoltech TMNT Raphael posted on my toy blog HERE, Michelangelo HERE, Leonardo HERE and Donatello HERE with group pictures posted HERE

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been around for ages. Well, since 1984 when Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird self-published a single-issue comic intended to parody four of the most popular comics of the early 1980s: Marvel Comics' Daredevil and New Mutants, Dave Sim's Cerebus, and Frank Miller's Ronin. Accompanied by the popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1987 TV series, and the subsequent action figure line, the TMNT were catapulted into pop culture history.

I've covered a little bit on the Playmates 2012 6-inch tall Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Classic Collection Figures in my toy blog posts HERE and HERE already plus a post of the newer action figures from the Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series which premiered on September 29, 2012. Kumik KMF029 DC Comics 1/6 scale Catwoman 12-inch Female Action Figure - Meow!

"My world is all just shades of grey, Batman. That's why you'll never really understand me."

Selina Kyle is Catwoman, a costumed adventurer who's been both super-hero and super-villain. Beginning her career as a thief and enemy to Batman, she later turned to crime-fighting and became part of the Batman Family. Despite her villainous nature, she works hard to protect the East End of Gotham City.

Seems like Kumik is wanting in on the 12-inch figure market in a big way. This week they have been releasing preview pictures of their upcoming 1:6 scale products / figures and taking pre-orders for them as well. Besides the Kumik KMF030 1/6 scale Unlimited Immortal Manji 12-inch Samurai action figure aka "Blade of the Immortal" Manji (see my earlier post HERE), Kumik has also released pictures of their Kumik KMF029 DC Comics 1/6 scale Catwoman 12-inch Female Action Figure.

Hot Toys "Iron Man 3" 1/6th scale Die-cast Iron Patriot 12-inch Collectible Action Figure Review II

continued from Previous Post ...

"Repulsors ON!"

Or light-up features of Hot Toys Iron Patriot die-cast figure

What's the point of having an Iron Man (or in this case Iron Patriot) figure and not have light-up features? It's so cool to have a 12-inch figure that lights up just like in the movie and Hot Toys has done just that . From the very beginning, their 1/6 scale Iron Man collectible figures have had the light-up features but the major problem was leaking batteries. If the batteries are left in the compartment for too long when not in use, they start to leak and damage the electrical components, rendering the figure totally useless in the light-up feature department and you wouldn't want that to happen Check out my post from September 2011 titled: -. "Hot Toy Collecting Tip # 1 Remove ALL Batteries!" link HERE .

What Hot Toys has DONE to Prevent leaking Batteries in the Figure is to pack all the Batteries separately in in so that even if the leak Batteries, They do Not Damage the Electrical Components of the Figure. Previous Post Toy See my blog HERE to see How the Batteries are packed and stored in the box.

This recently released Hot Toys MMS195-D01 Movie Masterpiece Series Die-cast 1/6th scale Iron Patriot 12-inch Collectible Action Figure comes with a 12-page User Guide booklet with lots of instructions from putting in the batteries to adjusting the figure for better articulation. Instead of showing you the contents of the Hot Toys Iron Patriot instruction booklet, I thought I'll just show you where the batteries are meant to go on the figure (ie the battery compartments) and where the ON / OFF switches are located.

Pre-order Kumik KMF030 1/6 scale Unlimited Immortal Manji 12-inch Samurai action figure

Blade of the Immortal (無限の住人 Mugen no Jūnin, lit. "The Inhabitant of Infinity") is a Japanese manga series by Hiroaki Samura. The series is set in Japan during the mid-Tokugawa Shogunate period and follows the cursed samurai Manji, who has to kill 1000 evil men in order to regain his mortality.

In the comic, Manji uses many weapons, a good number of which came from defeated opponents. His two short, hooked swords are named Shidō (four paths). His two standard swords are named Imo-no-Kami Tatsumasa (Sister Defender Tatsumasa). His two chained scythes are called Mumei (nameless). His double bladed sword-breaker is named Kotengu (Little devil). Most of his weapons are hidden under his shirt, a seemingly impossible feat given their large number, irregular shapes and lack of sheaths. One of Manji's signature tricks is to make any of his hidden weapons drop out of his sleeves into one or both of his waiting hands whenever they are needed.

Kumik is supposedly famous for the head sculpts, so don't expect much in the accessories department. Manji seems to come with just a black and white robe, a standard sword and two short, hooked swords. And he comes with two head sculpts, one normal and one "battle-damaged" (bloodied).

Another Original Effect (OE) Killer Instinct series 1/6 Sophia female figure (Hit Girl wannabe?)

This will be the third figure under Original Effect (OE) Killer Instinct series and the FIRST figure that is considered not an adult (ie 13-inch tall / 33 cm). Original Effect (OE) Killer Instinct Sophia female figure will be 27 cm tall (10.5 inches) and considered a "teenie" (teenager?). This is a most interesting move as it will mean that this OE figure is on par with other 1/6 scale figures and at 27cm tall (10.5 inches), Sophia will be in the right proportion with all other 12-inch tall figures, thus putting OE on the 12-inch figure market and giving 1/6 scale figure collectors another option for female bodies. OE even shows us a picture of Sophia standing beside Dam Toys Spade 3 figure for size comparison.

Original Effect (OE) Killer Instinct series 1/6 Sophia female figure will come with: 1/6 scale Sophia's head sculpt, Movable eyeballs x 1 Pair, 27 cm Teenie body, Hands x 6 Pair (with gloves x 5; normal x 1 ), Pink glasses, Bowknot underwear, Short shirt, Bow tie, Suspender skirt, Hold-ups, High-heeled leather shoes, Knee pads x 1 Pair, Sportswear, Armband, Tactical vest, Shoe covers x 1 Pair, Customized Mauser pistol ( with hard case holster), Sword x 1 Pair (with scabbard)

Review 1: Hot Toys "Iron Man 3" 1/6th scale Die-cast Iron Patriot 12-inch Collectible Action Figure

Iron Patriot is a fictional powered exoskeleton used by several characters in Marvel Comics. The alias is an amalgam of Iron Man's armor and Captain America's colors. Norman Osborn donned the original Iron Patriot armor during the Dark Reign storyline to exert his authority as 'commander' of H.A.M.M.E.R. and his own personal Avengers.

The Iron Patriot armor appears in the "Iron Man 3" film as the new paint scheme of James Rhodes's upgraded armor after being asked by President Ellis to be used as the U.S. government's "American hero" symbol thanks to A.I.M. in response to the events that occurred in The Avengers.

The movie-accurate Hot Toys "Iron Man 3" 1/6th scale Die-cast Iron Patriot Collectible Figurine is highly detailed and fully deployed, specially crafted based on the image of Don Cheadle as Iron Patriot in the movie, highlighting the highly detailed head sculpt, metallic red, white and blue star spangled armor, light-up functions and rotatable shoulder machine gun.

June 2014 Haul - Mostly Hot Toys figures: 1966 Batman and Robin, Tonto, Iron Patriot (die-cast)

June 2014 haul so far has been mostly Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series (MMS) 12-inch collectible figures: Hot Toys "Batman (1966)" 1/6 scale Adam West as Bruce Wayne / Batman Collectible Figure, Hot Toys "Batman (1966)" 1/6 scale Burt Ward as Dick Grayson / Robin Collectible Figure, Hot Toys "The Lone Ranger" 1/6 scale Johnny Depp as Tonto Collectible Figure, Hot Toys "Iron Man 3" 1/6th scale Iron Patriot 12-inch Collectible Figure and Super Duck C006 Racing Suit.

Being a big fan of Batman growing up, the 1960s Batman TV series certainly played a big part in sealing in the love for the DC Comics character. It didn't matter that the show was campy and I was watching re-runs, as kids we all loved it. Just seeing Batman and Robin in costume and fighting crime in live action was exciting, as if the two dimensional comic book characters sprang to life and was actually living and breathing action heroes. There has never been 12-inch figures made of the dynamic duo until now. I'm really glad it's Hot Toys that got the license to produce and release these 1966 Batman figures because coming from Hot Toys, you know that quality is assured and these will look GREAT!

The Gang's all here! Dam Toys 1/6 Gangsters Kingdom Spade J, 2, 3 and 4 altogether in a post

continued from earlier post...

After reviewing DAM Toys 1/6 scale Gangsters Kingdom Spade IV "Chad" (Colin Farrell) Figure HERE, HERE and HERE, it's time to put all the members of the gang together for a group shot / picture. Dam Toys 1/6 scale Gangsters Kingdom line / series has been receiving quite a lot of positive feedback for its shot at something different, especially in the area of the unique head sculpts done in caricature style while still maintaining the resemblance and likeness of the people they are supposed to be, which are mostly actors and famous personalities.

The glossy / shiny brown motorcycle leather jacket that Spade 4 comes with is a little too thick and stiff, otherwise this is another GREAT figure, the fourth in the series. After this figure, it looks like Dam Toys will be introducing members from the rival gang, Diamond 2 "Alger" and Diamond 3 "Juarez" (previewed HERE and HERE respectively). While waiting for them to be released, let's have another look at all four figures already out in the market.

From left to right: Spade J "Ogier" (Jason Statham), Spade 3 "Bernie / Pence" (Wayne Rooney), Spade 4 "Chad" (Colin Farrell) and Spade 2 "Nelson" (Vinnie Jones). The actual persons are all non-Americans making their presence felt around the world, mostly through films and football (Wayne Rooney).

Incoming: Brother Production Present "Kill Them Softly" 1/6 scale custom made action figure

Killing Them Softly is a 2012 American neo-noir crime film directed by Andrew Dominik and starring Brad Pitt, based on the 1974 novel Cogan's Trade by George V. Higgins. Brad Pitt plays Jackie Cogan, a hitman and enforcer hired to restore order after three dumb guys rob a Mob protected card game, causing the local criminal economy to collapse.

Not wanting to get by on his charming good looks alone, Brad Pitt makes himself to look less debonair and more gangster-like. Come on, if you see this guy coming towards you, you'll look for cover because he's certainly up to no good.

This is Brother Production Presents soon-to-be-released 1/6 scale custom made "Kill Them Softly" 12-inch action figure (Limited Edition of 100 pcs) and will include: 1/6 scale Head sculpt, Over 35 Moving Joints Base Body (12-inch tall), Realistic and detailed leather-like jacket, Long sleeve black shirt, Vest, Belt, Black pants, Black shoes, Normal Hands, Sunglasses, Handgun, Shotgun, 1:6 scale Lighter, Cigarette packet, Cigarette x 1.

Check out this 1990s Kenner Legends of Batman Skybat vehicle with Egyptian Batman figure

On the subject of Batman (see previous post), check out this "Blast from the Past" 1990s Kenner Legends of Batman Skybat vehicle with Wing-Mount Missile and Menacing Jaw Attack!

This is the short write-up from the box packaging:
As Batman appears throughout history – from the ancient past into the far future – he mysteriously arrives to the rescue aboard the top-secret Skybat. Disguised as a creature of the night, this vehicle allows Batman to swoop down from the black sky undetected by villains until the last terrifying moment when he reveals his dark presence. The Skybat is able to capture evil-doers in its mechanical claws or menacing jaws, and also provides Batman with necessary firepower from a powerful wing-mounted missile launcher.

Back in the days when I was still collecting carded Batman action figures, this Skybat actually caught my attention because it was Batman riding a giant bat! This is certainly not the recent flying BAT from The Dark Knight Rises but this toy vehicle was released way before that contraption had its moments on the big screen in the third film of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy with Christian Bale at the helm as Bruce Wayne / Batman.

What's cool about Batman besides his gadgets are the cool vehicles he has in his arsenal for his fight against crime. Besides the Batmobiles, Batman also had the Batwing and Batboat among the other cool vehicles in the Batcave. Check out my earlier toy blog post HERE for more of the Batmobiles and Batplanes. So this Skybat was a nice addition to that collection :)

Can you guess who Very Hot Toys 1/6 scale Spy (with Head and 12-inch Body) is supposed to be?

Whenever the word "Spy" appears in the 1/6 scale world of 12-inch collectible figures, it's usually associated with a particular Caucasian / White male figure who also goes by three-numbers. The figure is none other than the fictional British Secret Service agent character James Bond created by writer Ian Fleming. James Bond is an intelligence officer in the Secret Intelligence Service, commonly known as MI6. Bond is also known by his code number, 007.

So when Very Hot announced that they were releasing a 1/6 scale Spy 12-inch figure with Head and Body, I expected to see another rendition of Daniel Craig as James Bond (there have been so many versions of Craig Bond released so far) but lo and behold, it turns out Very Hot's 1/6 scale Spy is anything but white; in fact, he looks to be of dark skin origin, and appears to be an African American and when it comes to 1/6 scale African American head sculpts, usually the same few suspects come to mind: Will Smith (lots of 1/6 scale head sculpts with his likeness floating in the 12-inch figure market) or Morgan Freeman. Kaustic Plastik did release a African American figure with Terry Crews head as well as that of Al Matthews (he played Sergeant Al Apone in the 1986 science fiction action film "Aliens"). You can check out the head sculpt HERE.

So who can tell which 12-inch SPY figure Very Hot Toys is going to release? Who is he supposed to be and which African American played a spy character in recent times? Your guess is as good as mine ;p How about Jamie Foxx (recently seen as Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2)? or Laurence Fishburne (he of The Matrix fame)?

Review III: DAM Toys 1/6 scale Gangsters Kingdom Spade IV "Chad" (Colin Farrell) Figure

continued from previous post...

More pictures of DAM Toys 1/6 scale Gangsters Kingdom Spade IV "Chad" 12-inch Figure (Colin Farrell), this time wearing the shades / sunglasses that came with the figure, with the AK-47 Type 1B assault rifle with underfolding stock slung over his left shoulder and brandishing the M1911 pistol.

This third review post is just an excuse to show more pictures of DAM Toys 1/6 scale Gangsters Kingdom Spade IV "Chad", before posing him beside his other "family" members i.e. Spade J, Spade 2 and Spade 3.

Check out another Kotobukiya DC Comics Wonder Woman ARTFX 12-inch tall statue

Wonder Woman is a superheroine created by American psychologist and writer William Moulton Marston and published by DC Comics. The character first appeared in All Star Comics #8 in December 1941 and first cover-dated on Sensation Comics #1, January 1942. In addition to the comics, the character has appeared in other media; most notably, the 1975–1979 Wonder Woman TV series starring Lynda Carter, as well as animated series such as the Super Friends and Justice League.

The 1970s was when I was growing up and television then was one of the main means of entertainment, the other medium was comic books so Lynda Carter Wonder Woman TV series was quite happening then, with the entire family of siblings and cousins all gathering to watch each episode when it was aired on our local TV channel. I can still remember the Wonder Woman TV series theme song:
Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman. All the world's waiting for you, and the power you possess.
In your satin tights, Fighting for your rights And the old Red, White and Blue... (and it goes on)

So how many Kotobukiya DC Comics Wonder Woman are out there? With this latest preview and its upcoming release, I count at least three - the other two being the Kotobukiya DC Comics 1/7 scale Armored Wonder Woman Bishoujo Statue (previewed earlier HERE) and the Kotobukiya DC Comics Bishoujo Wonder Woman released in 2012 and reviewed HERE and HERE

Since Lynda Carter's television series, studios struggled to introduce a new live-action Wonder Woman to audiences, although the character continued to feature in a variety of toys and merchandise, as well as animated adaptations of DC properties, including a direct-to-DVD animated feature. Attempts to return Wonder Woman to television have included a pilot for NBC in 2011, closely followed by another stalled production for The CW. In 2013 it was announced that Israeli actress Gal Gadot would portray Wonder Woman in the 2016 film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice".

Preview Toys City #68002 1/6 WWII Ardennen 1944 German Fallschirmjager outfit Set

continued from previous post...

Important Note: This product is for military collectors & historic education purposes only, and it is NOT intended to glorify nor exploit the horrors and atrocities of war.

During World War II, the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) raised a variety of airborne light infantry (Fallschirmjäger) units. The Luftwaffe built up a division-sized unit of three Fallschirmjäger regiments plus supporting arms and air assets, known as the 7th Flieger Division.

After mid-1944, Fallschirmjäger were no longer trained as paratroops due to the strategic situation, and fought as infantrymen. Near the end of the war, the series of new Fallschirmjäger divisions extended to more than 12, with a reduction in quality in the later units, which, however still inflicted moderate losses on the advancing Allied troops.

In 1944, the Germans counterattack across the Ardennes and the Meuse valley but they were eventually thwarted after fierce battles. Their most advanced position was the "nose" of the salient, just in front of Dinant and the Meuse river. They had wanted to move northeast and reach Antwerp and the North Sea.

This is the soon-to-be-released Toys City 1/6 scale WWII Ardennen 1944 German Fallschirmjager outfit Set (Item#68002). The set will come with WWII German M38 Helmet, FJ uniform, FJ Trousers, German FJ Boots, FJ Y harness, MP44 Ammunition Pouch, MP44 Submachine Gun, MP44 magazine x 5, Gray protective gloves, Warm grey hood, Luftwaffe-Sumpfuster "Field Division Smock", M42 Coat, Mess kit, water bottle, Breadbag Blue, Entrenching tool with Leather-like Carrier, Gas mask bag, German Army Paratrooper Badge.

6 June, 1944 – D-Day 70th Anniversary: The World Remembers. Pictures taken then and now

On June 6, 1944, allied soldiers descended on the beaches of Normandy for D-Day - an operation that turned the tide of World War II against the Nazis, marking the beginning of the end of the conflict. Today, as many around the world prepare to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the landings, pictures of Normandy's now-touristy beaches stand in stark contrast to images taken around the time of the invasion.

But while the landscape has changed, the memory of the momentous event lives on. Reuters photographer Chris Helgren compiled a series of archive pictures taken during the 1944 invasion and then went back to the same places, to photograph them as they appear today.

The 2nd Battalion U.S. Army Rangers, tasked with capturing the German heavy coastal defence battery at Pointe du Hoc, west of the D-Day landing zone, march to their landing craft in Weymouth, England, on June 5, 1944.

Tourists walk along the beachfront in the Dorset holiday town of Weymouth, England, on July 13, 2013. The port was the departure point for thousands of Allied troops who took part in the D-Day landings.

Toys City #68001 1/6 scale WWII Ardennes 1944 German Fallschirmjager Officer figure outfit set

Important Note: This product is for military collectors & historic education purposes only, and it is NOT intended to glorify nor exploit the horrors and atrocities of war.

The Ardennes (Luxembourgish: Ardennen; also known as Ardennes Forest) is a region of extensive forests, rough terrain, rolling hills and ridges formed by the geophysical features of the Ardennes mountain range and the Moselle and Meuse River basins.

Allied generals in World War II felt the region was impenetrable to massed vehicular traffic and especially armor, so the area was effectively "all but undefended" during the war, leading to the German Army twice using the region as an invasion route into Northern France and Southern Belgium via Luxembourg in the Battle of France and the later Battle of the Bulge.

Battle of the Bulge.

This is Toys City upcoming figure, Item#68001 1/6 scale WWII Ardennes 1944 German Fallschirmjager Officer outfit set for 12-inch figures. Fallschirmjäger (Fallschirmjager or Fallschirmjaeger in English) is the German word for paratroopers. They played an important role during World War II, when, together with the Gebirgsjäger they were perceived as the elite infantry units of the German Wehrmacht.

Today is the 70th anniversary of D-Day, June 6, 1944. Let's not forget what happened that day.

In the military, D-Day is the day on which a combat attack or operation is to be initiated. The best known D-Day is June 6, 1944 — the day of the Normandy landings — initiating the Western Allied effort to liberate mainland Europe from Nazi occupation during World War II. D-Day for the invasion of Normandy by the Allies was originally set for June 5, 1944, but bad weather and heavy seas caused Gen. Dwight D Eisenhower to delay until June 6 and that date has been popularly referred to ever since by the short title "D-Day".

The Invasion of Normandy was the invasion and establishment of Western Allied forces in Normandy, during Operation Overlord in 1944 during World War II, the largest amphibious invasion to ever take place.

D-Day, the date of the initial assaults, was Tuesday 6 June 1944 and Allied land forces that saw combat in Normandy on that day came from Canada, the Free French Forces, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The Normandy invasion began with overnight parachute and glider landings, massive air attacks and naval bombardments. In the early morning, amphibious landings on five beaches codenamed Juno, Gold, Omaha, Utah, and Sword began and during the evening the remaining elements of the parachute divisions landed.

Jim 'Pee Wee' Martin, a 93-year-old WWII veteran paratrooper, just did the same jump out of a plane into Normandy that he did for D-Day 70 years ago when he was 23-years-old. But he says this jump was much easier because "there wasn't anybody shooting at me today."

The last of original Navajo code talkers of World War II, has died at age 93. R.I.P. Chester Nez

Jun 5, 2014: Chester Nez, last of original Navajo code talkers of World War II, has died at age 93.

"We mourn his passing but honor and celebrate the indomitable spirit and dedication of those Marines who became known as the Navajo code talkers," the Marines said in a statement.

Nez was the last remaining of the original 29 Navajos recruited by the Marine Corps to develop the legendary code that was used for vital communications during battle. He was a teenager when he was recruited in 1942 and assigned with the other code talkers to the Marine Corps' 382nd Platoon at Camp Pendleton. Together, they created a code, including developing a dictionary. Military authorities chose Navajo as a code language because its syntax and tonal qualities were almost impossible for a non-Navajo to learn, and it had no written form. The ranks of the Navajo code talkers swelled to more than 300 by the end of the war in 1945.

The code talkers were forbidden from telling anyone about it -- not their fellow Marines, not their families -- until their work was declassified in 1968. The original 29 were presented with the Congressional Gold Medal in 2001 by President George W. Bush.

"In developing our code, we were careful to use everyday Navajo words, so that we could memorize and retain the words easily," Nez told CNN in 2011 while promoting his book "Code Talker." "I think that made our job easier, and I think it helped us to be successful in the heat of battle."

In World War II, the Great Patriotic War the Soviet Union was the most brutal war in human history. To win this war, the people of the former Soviet Union paid an unprecedented extremely heavy cost. Max Factory "Metroid: Other M" 1/8th scale Samus Aran Zero Suit Version 8-inch PVC Figure

Samus Aran (Japanese: サムス・アラン Hepburn: Samusu Aran) is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Metroid science fiction action game series by Nintendo.

Introduced in the 1986 video game Metroid, Samus Aran is an ex-Galactic Federation soldier who turned into an intergalactic bounty hunter, usually fitted with a powered armor suit with weapons that include directed energy weapons and missiles. Super Metroid's Player's Guide describes Samus as a strong muscular woman who is 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m) tall and weighs 198 pounds (90 kg) without her armor. Appearances of Samus outside the Power Suit occur mostly in cutscenes, such as ending screens showing Samus in more revealing clothing. Metroid: Zero Mission also introduced the Zero Suit, a form-fitting jumpsuit that she dons below the Power Suit.

The original game's atmosphere was influenced by Ridley Scott's film, Alien (1979). The series' co-creator Yoshio Sakamoto recalled, "We were partway through the development process when one of the staff members said 'Hey, wouldn't that be kind of cool if it turned out that this person inside the suit was a woman?'" The developers voted on the concept, and it passed.

This is the Max Factory 1/8 Scale "Metroid: Other M" Samus Aran Zero Suit Version 8-inch tall PVC Figure and it certainly looks good. Scroll down to see the rest of the pictures. Click on them for bigger and better views.

Review 1: DAM Toys 1/6 Gangsters Kingdom Spade IV "Chad" 12-inch Figure (Colin Farrell?)

This is the recently released DAM Toys 1/6 scale Gangsters Kingdom Spade 4 "Chad" 12-inch Figure. This is the fourth figure from the Gangsters Kingdom series and I'm loving every one of them.

Some backstory: “Four of Spades” Chad has been a part of the gang for many years; rumor has it that he is ruthless and bold in his early years. He is loyal to the gang and earned the trust he deserved, but he becomes cautious since his son was born. Chad wants to be a good dad, he loves his son and has great expectations in him. He wants to save enough money to send his son to a good university, and keeps his son away from his life path. His heart is filled with contradictions, and he becomes more and more gloomy.

One of the draws / attractions of DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom line are the stylized / animated 1/6 scale head sculpts that bear some resemblance to famous actors / people (that and the great outfits plus accessories). The likeness is uncanny even though the faces are done very caricature-like. This fourth figure, Spade IV or Chad, looks a lot like Colin James Farrell, an Irish film actor famous for movies such as Total Recall, Fright Night, Horrible Bosses, In Bruges, Pride and Glory, MIami Vice, Alexander, S.W.A.T., Daredevil (as Bullseye) etc. The first figure, Spade J looked like Jason Statham, English actor (posted HERE). The second figure, Spade 2 resembled Vinnie Jones (British actor and former professional footballer - pictures HERE) and the third figure had Wayne Rooney's looks (revealed HERE). Wayne Mark Rooney is an English footballer who plays as a forward for Manchester United and the England national team. So it looks like the Spade family has no Americans.
