Art-Figures: SAVES "Punisher: War Zone" Figure REVIEW 1

From a masked hero in the previous post to an anti-hero from Marvel.

The Punisher is a vigilante who employs murder, kidnapping, extortion, coercion, threats of violence and torture in his war on crime. Driven by the deaths of his family, who were killed by the mob when they witnessed a gangland execution in New York City's Central Park, the Punisher wages a one-man war on the mob and all criminals in general by using all manner of conventional war weaponry.

The Punisher has appeared in three films unrelated to each other. The first film "The Punisher" was released straight to video in 1989 and starred Dolph Lundgren. It was most notable for lacking the character's signature skull. The second film was released in theaters and starred Thomas Jane. After an unsuccessful script of Punisher 2, the film was then rebooted in 2008 with the film "Punisher: War Zone" starring Ray Stevenson.

Captain Action 1:6 scale Kato 12-inch figure Revisited

Having seen the upgraded Captain Action Green Hornet figure in the previous post, let's now turn our attention to The Green Hornet's sidekick Kato! Kato is Britt Reid's valet, who doubled as The Green Hornet's unnamed, masked driver and sidekick to help him in his vigilante adventures, disguised as the activities of a racketeer and his chauffeur / bodyguard / enforcer / friend and partner. Kato gets to drive and operate the gadgets hidden inside The Black Beauty, kick ass and beat up bad guys. Guess who's the one having all the FUN?

Captain Action 1:6 scale The Green Hornet 12-inch figure Revisited

"Another challenge for the Green Hornet, his aide Kato, and their rolling arsenal, the Black Beauty. On Police records a wanted criminal, Green Hornet is really Britt Reid, owner-publisher of the Daily Sentinel, his dual identity known only to his secretary and to the district attorney. And now, to protect the rights and lives of decent citizens, rides THE GREEN HORNET."

That was how the TV series always started, each episode begins with the monologue, narrated by producer William Dozier. AND this is another look at my upgraded Captain Action The Green Hornet figure. I replaced the Captain Action figure with a Dragon Models DML 12-inch figure instead and I like the new look ;) Check out my earlier post on the 1:6 scale Captain Action Green Hornet figure HERE

ThreeA 1:6 Badbot & company

Having seen pictures of the threeA badbot packaging and contents (review 1 HERE) as well as Badbot poses with and without his two long-barrel guns (review 2 HERE), I thought I'll show some pictures of the Ashley Wood ThreeA 1:6 scale 14.5 inches tall badbot figure with company, to get an idea of scale and size. In terms of scale, ThreeA Badbot is supposed to be 1:6 so I've posed Badbot with a 1/6 scale figure to show the difference in height.

Ashley Wood 1:6 scale ThreeA Badbot REVIEW I

A different kind of robot from the one in the previous post...

In 2008, Ashley Wood and ThreeZero's founder Kim created threeA, a Hong Kong based production house for designing, developing and manufacturing toys, posters, prints and clothing based on characters created by Ashley Wood. And out of the collaboration came the Popbot figures based on the series of graphic novels by Ashley Wood.

Popbot is a robot from the Popbot Universe and the title character of the Popbot comic books. Popbot used to be the roadie for Kitty's band until he became Kitty's bodyguard when Kitty began being hunted. The different variations of Popbot represent him at various points in time.

Zeroday Popbot, also known as "Day One Popbot" i.e. the day Popbot appeared when he was first created, was available only through the 3AA Exclusive 2-pack which also included the Tomorrow King General Showa. Day One Popbot looks too clean and orange for my liking although General Showa looks bada$$

Standard Popbot has just been released but I just didn't dig the "chain-with-hook" hand (not much you can do with that hook hand, articulation and poseability wise)

STIKFAS Mechana Segmented Robot

The basic STIKFAS style is called the Alpha Male (see previous post) and stands 3 1/4" (82mm) tall. The Mechana Robot, on the other hand, is the largest body type, and represents a large mecha anime-style robot. It has a wide waist with an even wider torso, and a smallish head. Its arms are segmented, allowing for a wide range of flexibility. Its legs, however, are normal with wide feet.

STIKFAS Indiana Jones figure

Remember when I mentioned about STIKFAS in my earlier post on FLEX champion HERE? Well, it made me go and dig up my STIKFAS figures from the store room so here's my first post on them.

The debut of STIKFAS was through a successful co-branding in 2001 with the computer game publisher, Electronic Arts. This collaboration provided a proof of concept and Stikfas Pte. Ltd. was incorporated in August. Work began on the first mass production model of the STIKFAS Action Figure Kit, which was made available to public through online sales at www.stikfas.com in December 2001. [source: wiki]

This Indiana Jones inspired STIKFAS figure was a result of combining parts from the Beta Female Safari with Jungle Cat set and the basic Alpha Male figure.

Kitbash 1:6 scale Vietnam Tunnel Rat 12-inch figure

During the Vietnam War, the Americans discovered the vast tunnel complexes the Viet Cong had built underground. Steadily increasing pressure from American ground and air power had literally pushed the Reds underground, and they had carved out a subterranean Viet Nam that was every bit as complex as the surface one.

At first, American troops simply destroyed the Red tunnel complexes. Then it became evident that intelligence, food, even weapons could be retrieved from them. Thus four-man teams called "the Tunnel Rats" were formed.

FLEX champion

I am proud to say that this Flex champion toy was designed, manufactured, produced and packed in Singapore. This toy is made of PC (Polycarbonate) plastic and not from vinyl. Manufactured parts are already blended to match exact pantone codes so very little post production work needs to be done.

Came across this just the other day in Harris bookshop. This is the Special Edition Flex toy.

Arashikage Clan Warriors - Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow

This post is inspired by an illustration I came across of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow standing back to back (scroll down to see the beautiful artwork I mentioned). Throughout their history in the comic books, the duo have been everything to one another from the bitterest of enemies, to the most loyal of friends (and blood brothers) who would fight and die for one another. The movie version is somewhat different. You don't see either of them fighting or dying for one another - it was kill or be killed!

Asmus Toys 1:6 scale Jim Carrey "Ace Ventura" figure

Ace Ventura is an eccentric, possibly insane, self styled 'pet detective' who gave up regular police work so he could focus more on crimes against animals. Like all the great fictional sleuths, he is gifted with incredible powers of observation. Ventura's many personality quirks include his persistent, almost pathological, vulgarity and exceedingly flamboyant, extroverted behaviour. Despite his frequently psychotic personality, he is a dedicated gumshoe driven by an insatiable love of animals and a desire to protect them from the sinister machinations of man.

Ace Ventura was played by Jim Carrey in the films - "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective", released in 1994, and "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls", released in 1995.

And now from Asmus Toys & VIVA Studios previews this Ace Ventrua 12-inch figure. The Slim Version 12-inch Pedro figure includes Customed Base with dynamic interactive theme and 4.5 pairs of swapping hands. Other information: HANDMADE MAX SERIES IS ENTIRELY MADE BY THE ORIGINAL ARTIST. Artist(s): Head and accessories by VIVA with Clothing by Kathy Chen.

Comparing Hot Toys Iron Man Mark III with Mark IV: how they stack up

When I got my hands on the Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS123 Iron Man 2 1/6th scale Mark IV Limited Edition Collectible Figurine (reviewed in the previous posts HERE and HERE), I was most curious as to how different the Mark IV was compared to the Mark III and the best way to examine the differences between the two iron suits was to put them side by side. So here are some pictures of the Hot Toys Iron Man Mark III armor suit standing next to the latest Mark IV armor for some comparison shots as well as close-ups of the head / helmet, chest / torso and legs.

The latest Hot Toys Iron Man Mark IV is taller than the previously released Mark III. Mark IV is around 32cm (almost 13 inches) tall compared to Mark III which is around 30cm (12 inches). Click on the picture below for a bigger and better view.

Hot Toys Iron Man 2: Mark IV Review III - Tony Stark headsculpt

continued from the previous post...
Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) reading from Natasha Romanoff's (Scarlett Johansson) SHIELD Report on Iron Man / Tony Stark
Tony Stark: "Mr. Stark displays textbook... narcissism."
Stark stares at Nick Fury, who simply stares at him back
Tony Stark: "Agreed."
Definition of Narcissism: an exceptional interest in and admiration for yourself; "self-love that shut out everyone else". And that exactly describes how perfectly cast Robert Downey Jr. is to play Tony Stark. Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark and Tony Stark is Iron Man - they are one and the same AND that's one of the reasons why the Iron Man films have been so GREAT and FUN to watch!

We've seen the Hot Toys Iron Man Mark IV figure in its entirety in the post before this, now let's see the figure up close and examine all the wonderful details that can be seen with this figure. Hot Toys Iron Man 2: Mark IV 1/6 Figure REVIEW 1

First and foremost, HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone and may 2011 be an even better year for all :) Remember to have FUN with your toys and enjoy LIFE. Now on with the show...

After previewing Hot Toys upcoming Iron Man Mark V collectible figure in the previous post, I was blessed to get my hands on the Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS123 Iron Man 2 1/6th scale Mark IV Limited Edition Collectible Figurine before the year ended (didn't expect it at all but it fell into my lap) so that I can share these pictures with all of you.

The Mark IV armor is the first shown armor in the second film, meaning that it was built during the six months in-between the first and second films. The suit has a brighter color scheme, a differently-colored HUD, a generally more angular design, is more form-fitting, and aerodynamic than the Mark III armor. Although its full arsenal and fighting potential is not explored in the movie, the Mark IV appeared to be a match in hand-to-hand combat with the Rhodes-operated-Mark II armor though Stark's inebriation compared to Rhodes's sobriety may have been a factor.
