Even More Pictures of Blade (Review III)

Here are some more action poses of Hot Toys MMS113 1/6 scale Blade collectible figure, but this time with his signature black overcoat which has scarlet red inner lining

And here he is with the foldable glaives, all ready to make his point and bring it across to any vampire who has doubts about his existence

Close-ups of Blade with his foldable glaives, also called Blade's Bloodbath Shredder Glaive. In the movie, Blade's glaives are centrally spring loaded. The mechanism that keeps the blades secure in both the open and closed position requires a hub mounted spring in order to keep the blades in whatever position they are locked in. These 1/6 scale versions are not. Other than that, they are still very detailed and well produced.

Blade's 1/6 sword in sheath attached onto his vest via a hook on the sheath. It protrudes out from his overcoat through a triangular hole cut into it.

Blade with his extendable hand blades. All for ridding the world of vampires and blood suckers. The hand blades retract back into their housings - pretty cool.

And finally, Hot Toys Blade with his sword - Sword of the DayWalker (Blade is the half man, half immortal vampire killer hunter and his sword brings instant judgement)

Wesley Snipes has been training in martial arts since age twelve, earning a high ranking 5th dan black belt in Shotokan Karate. He has also trained as a student of Capoeira under Mestre Jelon Vieira and in a number of other disciplines including various styles of kung fu and Jiu Jitsu. As a martial artist, Wesley Snipes as Blade certainly was very convincing and the fight scenes were just cool ;p

And then there's the UV bomb

And more pictures taken of the excellent Blade figure by Hot Toys

This Hot Toys 1/6 scale MMS collectible Wesley Snipes as Blade "DayWalker" action figure from the "Blade II" movie really surprised me in more ways than one, from the excellent realistic life-like head sculpt to the movie-accurate outfits (costume) to the generous amount of weapons and accessories. This figure has a very HIGH fun factor for me and IMHO ranks higher than the Hot Toys Hugh Jackman Wolverine figure (my reviews HERE). Once again, TOP MARKS to Hot Toys for giving us 1/6 collectors what we want and MORE.

Pixar Animation Exhibition in Singapore

Fans of animation are in for a treat when the best of Pixar over 20 years comes to the Singapore Science Centre. The Pixar animation exhibition starts on April 2 and ends on June 27.

The art behind the world's celebrated animated features comes to life in the form of over 500 sketches, paintings, sculptures and storyboards.

To help visitors walk through the process is an audio-visual video installation called the Zoetrope. "The zoetrope is an amazing movement illusion device which uses the same illusion that film does by bringing motion to life there and taking it off the screen and putting it in right in front of you in a small cabinet," explained Warren Trezevant, the animator and exhibition designer of Pixar. "There, you get to see all the frames of animation and right in front of you, it all springs to life."

A 3D movie theatre has been specially brought in for the exhibition. "It's the first time we have the films in the actual gallery," said Kim Donovan, the exhibitions manager of Pixar. "You get to see the original art from 'Toy Story' which is the paper art and the sculptures, and you get to go to the theatres and put on 3D glasses and see them come to life."

Hot Toys 1/6 BLADE Action Figure Review II

I didn't manage to complete my review of this excellent figure recently released by Hot Toys (my earlier post HERE only covered the basics). That was mainly because I needed time to get the shots I wanted with the optional / extra clothing (outfit) and accessories (plus weapons) he had. I felt like this Collectible figure from Hot Toys was a DX (DeluXe) version disguised in plain boxed packaging. There was so much to do with him in terms of poses and options that warranted more time than usual :)

So here are some shots of Hot Toys MMS113 (Movie Masterpiece Series) 1/6th scale BLADE Limited Edition Collectible Figurine from the "Blade II (2002)" movie in action poses. But first let's see what he has underneath his black overcoat.

Besides the black long sleeve sweater, Blade also has the original Hot Toys 1/6 True Type body (NOT the narrow shoulder version). His black pants has both a unique silver "buckle" as well as the standard black belt. Note: The silver buckle does not work, it functions only as a fashion statement and serves to make the outfit (costume) look movie accurate.

UPDATE April 3: Blade actually comes with a slightly tweaked Truetype - he's got bigger and more defined biceps and triceps, and bigger forearms with sculpted detail (same arms as the Hot Toys Wesker figure). The shoulders, while not as small as the narrow shoulder version, are less "ball"-like and have a similar shape and slope as the narrow version. Also, he has the stronger and newly designed knee joints (makes him less prone to breakage). This was contributed by a fellow blogger Philip. Thanks for the input :)

Here's Wesley Snipes as Blade wearing the short padded bomber jacket under his vest. The bomber jacket is really tight and almost doesn't fit but the vest covers that up. The vest also has the same non-working undetachable silver buckles.

The vest has very nice details, as can be expected of Hot Toys

The five silver stakes (sterling silver spikes) go into a drop-down stake-holder located on Blade's left thigh

A close-up of the 1/6 combat boots that Blade wears

Here's Hot Toys Blade "Daywalker" with his two Handguns (Heckler & Koch USP Matchs modified with laser sights and rail-like attachment) and wearing the double shoulder holster

Blade's 1/6 vest has a slot at the back for attaching the sword sheath. The vest itself is attached with snap fasteners and not by velcro as it looks (most assault vests are attached via velcro fasteners)

Another close-up of the vest's nice details which can be seen when Blade wears the padded bomber jacket but will be mostly hidden when he wears the long black overcoat.

A close-up of the holster for his Handgun

Hot Toys MMS 1/6 scale 12-inch Blade is also armed with a heavily modified Ingram MAC-10 sub-machine gun. His two handguns are kept in the double shoulder holsters.

In this side profile picture of Blade, you can see the nice details of the heavily modified Ingram MAC-10 sub-machine gun

Soldier Story US Army FCS "TF" Version Preview

Yet another 1/6 scale FCS MultiCam outfit from Soldier Story (I've lost count of how many sets they have produced and released. Let's recap - there was one with Josh Duhamel HS, another with Jason Statham likeness, and one with HS that resembled Channing Tatum). This one is the TF version. TF for "TransFormers" i.e. as worn by the soldiers in the first movie.

The latest head sculpt looks just like Cynric as portrayed by Til Schweiger in the 2004 film "King Arthur". Cerdic (Stellan Skarsgård) and Cynric were depicted as Saxon invaders, and were killed, respectively, by King Arthur and Lancelot at the Battle of Badon Hill. Til Schweiger is best known for his role as Sgt. Hugo Stiglitz in the 2009 film "Inglourious Basterds".

There seems to be quite a few brand new pieces from this release. The ranger vest, the brand new M4 suppressor and 1911A1 with tac light. Not to mention Fast Mags. Now there is such a wide variety of 1:6 scale MC pouches available.

Check out the new Mechanix M-Pact® 2 Glove with Knuckle Protection although it isn't my cup of tea. Would've preferred it to be all black.
