Sideshow Collectibles Dana Scully from The X-Files

Another FemFig (Female Figure) to add to the collection of Femme Fatale (see previous post HERE) is Sideshow Collectibles 12" figure from "The X-Files" TV series, a 1/6 scale Dana Scully. Scully is a special agent of the United States' Federal Bureau of Investigation, partnered with fellow Special agent Fox Mulder to investigate unsolved cases labeled "X-Files", cases that have been deemed unsolvable by the F.B.I.

This Sideshow 12" figure came out in 2004 but I totally missed it when it was first released and wasn't going to pay extra for e-bay (eVIL-bay) versions plus shipping, so I was pleased as punch when I managed to get it at a VERY GOOD price at the TOY CARNIVAL @ SAM recently (see post HERE). Especially since this was the exclusive version which was limited to 750 pieces while the regular version saw the release of 5,000 pieces.

I liked the box design as it captured the look and feel of the show. I preferred the one-off stories more than the conspiracy theories but overall, the show was fun. FBI agent Dana Scully (played by Gillian Anderson) was a skeptic and was assigned to Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) in order to debunk and control Mulder's unorthodox working methods. By its final airing, "The X-Files" had become the longest-running science fiction series ever on US broadcast television.

Accessories include an X-file folder, cell phone or mobile phone and flashlight.

Inside the folder is a set of photographs from the different cases, along with a cover page. The cover page with File no. X-120898 was for "Investigating the disappearance of FBI Agent Raymond Crouch". All the photos and the folder itself are printed on heavy card stock.

Scully comes dressed with her overcoat, shirt with wide collar, pants, belt and boots. She has her FBI badge and is armed with the Smith & Wesson pistol with removable magazine, similar to Fox Mulder (see post HERE for the review of Sideshow Collectibles 12" Fox Mulder)

IMHO, this is definitely one of the better head sculpts done by Sideshow Collectibles. They managed the capture the likeness of actress Gillian Anderson, who acted as Dana Scully, very well. During her time on The X-Files (which ran for nine seasons), Anderson won several awards for her portrayal of Special Agent Scully, including an Emmy Award, Golden Globe and two Screen Actors Guild awards for "Best Actress in a Drama Series."

A closer view of her Smith & Wesson pistol with removable magazine. The slide mechanism can also be pulled back and released to simulate the loading of the first round into the chamber.

Scully's overcoat is also a well tailored piece and fits her body nicely.

Underneath the black overcoat, the shirt itself is a little short and doesn't really tuck into the pants but still looks good. There's also a belt with her black pants.

The next post HERE will see Sideshow Dana Scully without her overcoat and also the additional item that came with this exclusive version.

Girls just wanna have FUN!

Since ZC Rosanna has lost her ride to Bruce Wayne (see previous post), she has to join the other girls in the display cabinet without her bike. So here are just some random 1/6 girls taking time out for a shot :)

ZC Sexy Kelly - more pictures HERE

Moon Girl Urika Gagarin - full review HERE

Takara's CG-13 "Eris" from the Violent Interception Squad (VIS) - link HERE for more pictures. I just love the whole RoboCop look about her, including the ED209 inspired helmet. Take a look at Hot Toys exceptional RoboCop figures - RoboCop 1 HERE and RoboCop 3 HERE. And then there's the Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece 1/6 scale ED209 full review HERE.

Takara CG Harley - more of her HERE

Funny thing is, when I first started collecting 1/6 action figures way back then, I stayed clear of dolls because I didn't want anything to do with Barbie but over the years, I've accumulated quite a fair amount of 1/6 scale female figures (enough to have their own label), including some Barbies even - Barbie turned 50 this year. Not bad for an old hag - see my post "Plastic is Fantastic!!" HERE

Hot Toys True Type Bruce Wayne on Honda RC 211V

I've posted the Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) on a 1/6 Bike HERE (courtesy of Kamen Rider the First - post HERE) . Now let's see how a Hot Toys True Type body fits on the 1/6 Honda RC 211V that came with ZC Rosanna (full review of the bike can be found HERE).

ZC Rosanna is a bit short riding her bike (see pictures HERE) as she is after all a female and until 1/6 manufacturers produce 1/6 amazon-sized women, the 1/6 female body is much smaller than the male's. Perhaps using DC's 13-inch female figures would be a good fit - Black Canary might look nice on it :). Too bad I don't collect any of DC's 13-inch figures (hint! hint!)

Hot Toys True Type body does seem to fit the bike much better than Rosanna

A close-up of his 1/6 Action Man bike helmet. The helmet also looks nice on a 1/6 Action Man Ninja on his Super Bike - pictures HERE

Wanna ride in a Terrex Infantry Carrier Vehicle (ICV)?

Designed and made in Singapore, the TERREX Infantry Carrier Vehicle will be officially launched by Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean on Saturday at the Army Open House.

This armoured infantry carrier comes with remote controlled machine guns (7.62mm coaxial machine gun and 40mm automatic grenade launcher or 0.5mm heavy machine gun) capable of 350 rounds a minute and can take down targets 800m away. Dubbed the King of the Terrain, the eight-wheeler can roar across rugged terrain at a top speed of 105kmh. It will provide troops with enhanced protection compared to the canvas-topped "3 tonners" of old as well as mobility and firepower. It has a capacity of 13 (Commander, driver and 11 troopers) with BMS (Battle Management System), a key element in the Singapore military's ongoing transformation into a third generation fighting force, which leverages on technology to give it a sharper edge in battle.

An ST Kinetic team of 70 took the Terrex through more than 15,000km of trial runs here and in Turkey to test its tolerance to extreme weather.

War in pictures (4) - Battle of Britain

This week marks the 70th Anniversary of the start of the Second World War when the Germans marched into Poland on September 1, 1939. Britain and France declare war on Germany.

With France defeated by the Germans, Hitler decided to attack Britain. However, the German navy lacked the strength to protect an invasion fleet against the Royal Navy so Hitler decided to launch air raids on Britain on 12 August 1940.

The Battle of Britain (German: Luftschlacht um England) is the name given to the air campaign waged by the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) against the United Kingdom during the summer and autumn of 1940. The objective of the campaign was to gain air superiority over the Royal Air Force (RAF), especially Fighter Command. The name derives from a famous speech delivered by Prime Minister Winston Churchill in the House of Commons: "The Battle of France is over. I expect the Battle of Britain is about to begin..." [from wiki]

This Chain Home radar station was part of the first line of Britain's air defence. The Chain Home stations were designed to detect high-altitude aircraft formations. the information provided by the radar was used by Fighter Command to decide where to direct defending squadrons on intercept courses. The Germans initially targeted the stations, but their steel girder structure made them difficult to knock down, and eventually they gave up the attempt.

Barrage balloons float over a target in Britain. These were cheap and effective methods of rendering bombing ineffective, as aircraft had to fly above the height of the balloons to avoid the cables tethering the balloon to the earth. The Germans relied heavily on dive bombing for precision, and barrage balloons prevented such attacks.

My entry of April 20, 2008 titled "GOD save the Queen!" HERE has pictures of 1/6 French and British soldiers, along with the brave RAF pilots who fought the good fight for Queen and country!

The Battle of Britain was the first major campaign to be fought entirely by air forces, and was the largest and most sustained aerial bombing campaign up until that date.

Action Man 1/6 Royal Air Force Working Dress comprising RAF garrison cap, RAF blue-grey sweater and trousers, tri-service colours belt, RAF woollen greatcoat and boots.

Action Man 1/6 Royal Air Force Fighter Pilot wearing black flying helmet, goggles and oxygen mask, and dressed in RAF blue-grey cotton service jacket and trousers, belt, pilot's scarf, life vest and Pattern 1940 flying boots

BBI Elite Force 1/6 Royal Air Force Fighter Pilot "Keith Gordon" with RAF peaked cap, sunglasses, Type C Pattern 42 Flight helmet, Mk IVB flight goggles with painted metal frames and two hinged lenses, oxygen mask fitted with microphone and oxygen tube, silk scarf, RAF battledress, whistle, web belt with British Enfield .38 pistol in holster, flare pistol, flare rounds in metal container, pouch, jack knife in trouser pocket, map,1932 pattern ‘Mae West’ life jacket, gloves, watch, 1936 pattern 40 flying boots with sheepskin lining.

Due to the heavy losses suffered by the Germans in both bombers and fighters, the German air force gave up any hope of seizing control of the air and on 19 September the German invasion was postponed indefinitely.

Hot Toys Terminator Salvation John Connor Review II

Continued from previous post

Hot Toys 1/6 12-inch Collector's Edition MMS 95 (Movie Masterpiece Series) Terminator Salvation John Connor (Christian Bale) kitted out and armed with his M4A1 Carbine with an M26 Modular Accessory Shotgun System attachment OR M4A1 with tactical red dot sight and under barrel XM-26 LSS (Lightweight Shotgun System) with six extra M4 magazines, SIG P250 pistol (it's supposed to be a Heckler & Koch Mk 23 Mod 0 pistol which was John Connor's sidearm throughout the movie) plus two extra clips or magazines, Line launcher, tactical fixed blade with wrist band sheath, four blocks of plastic explosives (C4 or demolition block composition explosive), Radio and Headset.

John Connor (Christian Bale) keeps his spare 12-round pistol magazines in his double magazine pouch on his right chest.

You gotta love the Christian Bale as John Connor head sculpt by Hot Toys. The resemblance is amazing and the skin texture and paintwork is absolutely stunning. The headset to his radio fits snugly in his left ear.

He keeps two of his spare M4 30-round magazines in the m4 ammo pouches. These come loose and you basically attach them to his very well produced harness.

The four C4 demolition blocks are kept stored by his left thigh. Note the knee pads incorporated into his very well worn tiger stripe pattern pants.

Also check out the well-produced 1/6 boots Hot Toys MMS Terminator Salvation John Connor wears

His radio sits nicely in the radio pouch carried on his back...

... along with the remaining four M4 30-round magazines. His SIG P250 pistol is kept in his hard shell holster attached to the drop-leg panel on his right thigh.

Another close look at the very detailed and well-produced M4A1 assault rifle with tactical red dot sight and under barrel XM-26 LSS (Lightweight Shotgun System)

Tactical fixed blade with wrist band sheath worn on his right wrist

The man is INTENSE!! Not hard to imagine Christian Bale hurling verbal abuse at cinematographer Shane Hurlbut during the filming on the set of the movie. He used the F-word 36 times in four minutes. See my post HERE

And finally, with his Line launcher
