Biohazard 4 - Leon S Kennedy (R.P.D. version)

Had this figure for a while but due to the big move, had to put it aside until now. Never into video games but I sure can appreciate a great piece of art when I see one. IMHO, Hot Toys' Leon S Kennedy from Biohazard 4 (Resident Evil 4 in North America) is without a doubt one of the finest pieces of 1/6 collectible ever done for a video game, so if you will indulge me, there are tons of pictures I'll like to share :)

The box he came in - there's an additional sticker that says he's the RPD version, RPD stands for Raccoon Police Department, Raccoon City being the place where the Umbrella Corporation's secretive activities have become a public affair.

There is also the regular version of Leon S Kennedy (a former Raccoon City police officer and one of the few survivors of the T-Virus outbreak in Raccoon City, now recruited by the US government after undergoing a period of extensive training and conditioning, turning him from a rookie police officer into an elite government agent) but since I don't have money flowing out of my ears, I gotta settle for only one Leon.

Leon's weapons and accessories

Leon in his tray

Basic Leon out of box, ready for some action

The headsculpt is simply amazing

One of Leon's handguns, the Red9 (Mauser C96). The Red9 was in real life the Mauser C96 7.63mm semi-automatic pistol (nicknamed the Broomhandle due to it's distinctive grip) modified to fire 9mm rounds for the Imperial German Army during WW1.

Leon's Combat Knife

Broken Butterfly (Schofield Model 3) - a Magnum revolver

Leon's dagger - a much bigger knife

Blacktail, another handgun which is actually the Springfield Armory XD

Matilda (actually a Heckler & Koch VP70M). The other famous Matilda and Leon that I know of are from the 1994 movie "The Professional" by Luc Besson

Leon's Bolt-action Rifle (essentially a Springfield M1903A4)

Leon's Semi-automatic Shotgun, the Benelli M4 Super 90 shotgun, also known as M1014, currently used by the United States Armed Forces as their "Joint Service Combat Shotgun".

Leon with his Flash Grenade

The P.R.L. 412 (Plaga Removal Laser), a laser gun which can be used to stun or kill an enemy

Leon's Communicator which can unfold into 3 panels

Leon against the inside flap background

Can you imagine what Hot Toys could have done with Snake from Metal Gear Solid?
Biohazard 4/Resident Evil 4 Jack Krauser next!

Motoko Kusanagi by Takara

This is Takara's Cool Girl version of Major Motoko Kusanagi in ninja suit. Takara likes to put hair on their girl's head (e.g. Kerberos Panzer Cop Midori Washio German Gray version) and while it works for some, it doesn't do it for me when it comes to anime. That's the reason I didn't order their Appleseed Deunan Knute. Hot Toys' version, on the other hand, totally ROCKS!!

Back to Motoko's headsculpt - not anime enough for me :(

Major Motoko Kusanagi's weapons which are also Section 9's - Sebro C-26A with silencer and magazine, Mateba Auto Revolver M-2008 (listed as special bonus item) and Sebro M-5

The suit's very very nice and one can almost ignore the headsculpt with shades on

The hand is well sculpted to hold her Sebro C-26A, unlike BBI's Mystere. There are also two additional hands - one for holding her sidearms and another with outstretched fingers for nice dynamic poses

Her Sebro M-5 in holster concealed but within easy reach

Her suit does not restrict her movements - check out her steel-toed boots - at least it's not clunky like Takara's Gen X Core Batman figure.

"Eat lead, tango!!"

Motoko Kusanagi by Alpha

A little known company called Alpha produced this Motoko Kusanagi figure of Masamune Shirow's "Ghost in the Shell" anime and manga series. Major Motoko Kusanagi is a cyborg employed as the squad leader of Public Security Section 9, a fictional division of the real Japanese National Public Safety Commission. "Ghost in the Shell" is a highly acclaimed 1995 anime film that wowed audiences worldwide. In the opening credits, the numbers that flow in the background are actually computer codes for the different names of the staff who worked on the movie. These flowing numbers inspired the Matrix digital rain.

Nice headsculpt from Alpha - very anime-like. Nice BIG .... eyes!!

Major Kusanagi's weapons - seburo K-1C, seburo C-26A and seburo K-287-4C

Motoko suiting up - must be quite cold coz her chest's looking all perky ;p

Ready to kick some bad guy's a$$

The headsculpt and weapons are nice but the suit and belt is disappointing :(

CY Girl Mystere by BBi

TRINITY she is not but certainly the inspiration came from there. Released by BBI in 2008, Cy Girl Mystere is supposed to be a stealth operative highly trained in covert tactics and extended operations. Not too sure what BBI meant by "extended operations" - looking at her, I can only think they meant she'll take a long time coming ;p

From the look of her outfit, she is certainly dressed to kill and her victims probably died happy. Her tight outfit certainly plays up her assets and we can confirm that she may be blond but she's no barbie!! Incidentally, I believe Michelle Pfeiffer was the first to put on the tight fitting outfit as Catwoman in Batman Returns.

I love the look they gave her - blond hair, blue eyes, hot lips - very nice headsculpt

What prompted me to get this figure was her accessories - haven't seen the HK MP7 released anywhere else. She also has a deadly curved dagger, shades and a mouthpiece/mask. The thingie at the bottom right is a layer of clothing which I removed from her outfit. It is sort of a leather underwear worn on the outside, like what a dominatrix, S&M (sado-masochistic) type of chick would wear. Didn't look good on her and made her hips look bigger/fat (taboo word for the ladies) so I took it off. There was also a long chain with an occult looking pendant plus an additional skull and bones pendant included - not too keen on those, looked tacky.

Heckler & Koch HK MP7A1 SMG submachine gun/personal defense weapon (PDW) with shoulder stock and foregrip retracted in top picture and extended in firing position in the bottom picture, as well as collimating sight installed on top rail, tactical light attached on the side and suppressor, with two 20 and two 40-round magazines. Problem is, her hands are way too small to hold the gun properly but I guess she doesn't need it coz she can kill her victims the way Famke Janssen as Xenia Onatopp did it in GoldenEye - crushing them between her strong thighs, what a way to go :)

Mystere with her shades and mask on

Personally, I much prefer to see her full face
