Australian Jungle Fighter by Action Man

One of the first few 12" figures I got, or rather, my lovely wife got for me for my birthday way back when. This Australian Jungle Fighter was released by Action Man in the '70s (that seems like a long time ago now) and was still in pristine condition when I got him. Not so much bells and whistles on him as the action figures of today but he was a clean cut and nice figure, and at least paid tribute to the Australian soldiers who fought for freedom and justice in both world wars. He was meant as a toy for kids in the 60s and 70s; I don't think the kids today will appreciate such a fine figure.

His jungle/bush hat was done very nicely and wasn't droopy nor floppy . The headsculpt was the "flock" hair type introduced in the 70s, meant to make them look more realistic and replaced the earlier painted heads. He has his ammo belt and grenades.

Also came armed with a machete for hacking a jungle trail and the 9mm L2A3 Sterling submachine gun which saw considerable service in Malaya and Borneo. If you examine the Sterling carefully, you will notice that it was used as a base for the Star Wars Imperial Blaster simply by adding more parts to the frame.

The Action Man Australian Jungle Fighter also came armed with the flame thrower. Must have been quite a scary feeling to be at the other end of it when it is in use.

Kitbash Singapore Commando

When I finished kitbashing this figure, he reminded me a lot like an SAF Commando. There have been so many pictures of them because the 1st Commando Battalion has won the Best Combat Unit title for so many times that it's almost a given that they'll achieve it again and again. And why shouldn't they? They are the commandos. If only there was a 1/6 SAR-21 with M203 grenade launcher attached so that I could really complete the look :p Oh yeah, his name's Rambu Tan (Javon came up with that) - LOL!!

Headsculpt from Cotswold works very well here, except for the blue eyes

Grenadier's vest

US issued backpack

Sidearm and M4/M203

Hot Toys' boots - these are NICE!!

SAR-21 scores BIG!!

Singapore's locally designed SAR-21 assault rifle has been picked as one of the top five high tech guns for the next-generation infantry, according to Popular Mechanics. This is certainly a far cry from the first assault rifle produced by CIS (now ST Kinetics) in 1978, the crappy SAR80 which was supposed to replace the M-16 but failed miserably. The SR88 was next but because it was simply tweaking the already bad SAR80 which it was based on, it didn't fare any better. However, when the SAR-21 assault rifle was first demonstrated publicly in 1999, it got people's attention (at least mine). When I got the opportunity to fire the weapon during the Army Open House, it certainly scored high for me as compared to the M16 we've been handling in NS. It's bullpup design with integrated laser aiming device and ambidextrous handling plus many other fine features certainly made it a far superior weapon to the M16. I certainly liked the special ops modified versions which looked way cooler than the standard issue ones.

So I'm certainly glad the world is sitting up and taking notice. Other than the SCAR which has probably seen some action, me thinks the other three in the top five are still in the developmental stages. The SAR-21 is the only weapon that has already been deployed and put into use by the Singapore Armed Forces. Yet it is labeled here as a next-generation weapon. The future is 'NOW' :) Let's hope some company makes them in 1/6 scale (like the saying goes, "hope springs eternal")

Star Wars Episode IV Han Solo by Medicom

Seen at SDCC08 - Medicom's Han Solo headsculpt puts Sideshow's to shame. Amazing! Stunning! Incredible! This from a company that has been producing anime-likeness in all its other chararcters. Totally blew me away. MUST HAVE!! NOW!!!

Sideshow Darth Vader and Stormtrooper - more pictures

More pictures are available from SDCC08! Stormtrooper is looking mighty fine

and Darth Vader isn't too bad either. This is the Episode IV: ANH Darth Vader - the very FIRST time he appeared on the big screen, the FIRST time we laid eyes on him and welcomed the Star Wars universe with open arms.

There is also the Rebel Fleet trooper - happy happy times for Star Wars collectors everywhere :)

And let's not forget General Kenobi from the animated Star Wars: Clone Wars - damn good animation and story (the link between episodes 2 and 3)

Sideshow Darth Vader and Stormtrooper coming soon!

It's taken like forever but now there seems to be a glimmer of hope - Sideshow's Darth Vader and Stormtrooper look way better than their Snake-Eyes. We'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.

Hot Toys Iron Man Updated Pictures

Time to empty those wallets coz the Hot Toys Iron Man pictures are out and they are stunning!! nuff said.

Welcome to my new place :)

My new place is almost ready - I say almost because being the perfectionist that I am, it'll never be complete until I'm totally satisfied with everything in the house but for now, this will do. Bought the new place because we felt that Jared and Javon should have their own rooms since the two rascals are growing up so fast that before long, they'll probably want to have their own pads (on the condition that I can put my stuff in their room as well - LOL!!). And since my home is my toy haven, this entry is most appropriate.

Finally, almost all the unpacking's done. Please enter into my toy haven :)

The BIG MOVE - two truckloads and it didn't include my boxes of toys, those I moved myself coz I didn't trust them to handle with care

Kind of remind you of the scene at the end of "Indiana Jones - Raiders of the lost Ark". These are just boxes of my toys. The furniture & stuff from the two truckloads had already been unpacked.

That's all folks. Thank you for visiting :) Do come again - ha! ha!

Yay! My toys and place got featured. Just thought I'll share ;p
