"Pop quiz, hotshot. There's a bomb on a bus. Once the bus goes 50 miles an hour, the bomb is armed. If it drops below 50, it blows up. What do you do? What do you do?" Howard Payne
Speed is a 1994 American action thriller film directed by Jan de Bont in his feature film directorial debut. The film stars Keanu Reeves, Dennis Hopper, Sandra Bullock, Joe Morton, Alan Ruck, and Jeff Daniels. It became a surprise critical and commercial success (the film grossed a worldwide total of $350.5 million, well above its $30 million production budget), winning two Academy Awards, for Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing, at the 67th Academy Awards in early 1995. The film tells the story of an LAPD cop who tries to rescue civilians on a city bus rigged with a bomb programmed to explode if the bus slows down.
It has taken 23 years for this 1/6th scale Keanu Reeves as Los Angeles police officer Jack Traven 12-inch figure to be realised! No other company has attempted to produce a 12-inch Keanu wearing his civvies with his assault vest equipped with his EOD tools. There were a few 1/6th scale LAPD SWAT figures bearing some likeness to Keanu Reeves released but none of him in civvies until now. Keanu Reeves is much older now and a 12-inch John Wick figure would be most appropriate to show him then and now. Let's get back to this DID MA1003 1/6th scale '90s LAPD SWAT “Kenny” 12-inch action figure which is pretty well made.

In 1994, Keanu Reeves's career reached a new high as a result of his starring role in the action film Speed. His casting in the film was controversial, since, except for Point Break, he was primarily known for comedies and indie dramas. He had never been the sole headliner on a film. The summer action film had a fairly large budget and was helmed by novice cinematographer-turned-director Jan de Bont. Reeves' next huge success would be the 1999 science fiction-action hit The Matrix, which was a box office success and attracted positive reviews.
This DID MA1003 1/6th scale '90s LAPD SWAT “Kenny” 12-inch action figure came with two options. You can pose him as Keanu Reeves / Jack Traven in civvies or as a LAPD SWAT officer in full gear. The figure was packed and shipped already wearing his civvies so it was easier to equip him as such, which was what I wanted anyway. You can check out the packaging and items that came with this figure in my previous post HERE.
The pouches all attach to the LAPD S.W.A.T. HRM Tactical Vest fairly easily and you can put all his EOD tools and gear inside the pouches or secured by the loops. I didn't need to adjust the vest to make it tighter or looser as it fits snugly, opening and closing via a zipper in the front.
The DID New All-Era Body With Muscle Arms is not as flexible as the Super-Flexible Male Seamless Bodies released by Phicen (reviewed HERE, HERE and HERE). DID's seamless arms can bend but they don't stay in the desired position as much as I would want them to. I couldn't get the figure to grasp his pistol with both hands as the arms are not as flexible and the vest gets in the way. So I had him hold his pistol in one hand and the cell phone in the other.
Check out the close-up pictures of DID's '90s LAPD SWAT “Kenny” 1/6th scale head sculpt. I think D.I.D. did a great job in sculpting Keanu Reeves' likeness. There is a very strong resemblance to the actor and IMHO is the best Keanu Reeves head so far.
The LASH Headset with PTT is cleverly done with a long metal pin that goes into his left ear. This ensures that the item stays in place without falling off easily. It is connected by a simply hook system which is better than those that come with an elastic band and has to be stretched over the head to be put around the neck. The stretchy types may break if too much force is used so DID's way is much preferred.
Check out all his gear on his LAPD S.W.A.T. HRM Tactical Vest. The parts list says it includes: Micro-Screwdriver, Phillips Screwdriver, Pliers, Pen Type Digital Multimeter, Wire Cutter, Mini Folding Knife, Flathead Screwdriver, Safety Master Lock D Buckle x2, Scraper Knife and Mini Storage Battery. There are still some items I could not identify and DID failed to mention what they are.

Here's DID 1/6th scale '90s LAPD SWAT “Kenny” 12" Action Figure standing side-by-side with Hot Toys Keanu Reeves as Neo from the Matrix. Hot Toys produced this figure way back in 2001 when they were just starting out and did not have the license to make Movie Masterpieces yet. Check out the action figure review HERE.

Don't forget the first hot toys figure did was a likeness of Keanu Reeves in Speed in Swat uniform
That wasn't the FIRST Hot Toys figure. The first Hot Toys figure was a top gun Tom Cruise pilot figure and the second was Will Smith from Independence Day. After that there were more military type figures including the Keanu LAPD SWAT figure.
Alex your right I meant to say one of the first few sorry btw love your page
No worries :) and thanks for the kind words of encouragement. Always grateful for the support.
