COOMODEL SE004 1/6th scale Empires Series - Richard the Lionheart 12-inch action figure

Richard I (8 September 1157 – 6 April 1199) was King of England from 6 July 1189 until his death. He also ruled as Duke of Normandy (as Richard IV), Duke of Aquitaine, Duke of Gascony, Lord of Cyprus, Count of Poitiers, Count of Anjou, Count of Maine, Count of Nantes, and Overlord of Brittany at various times during the same period. He was the third of five sons of King Henry II of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine. He was known as Richard Cœur de Lion or Richard the Lionheart because of his reputation as a great military leader and warrior.

By the age of 16, Richard had taken command of his own army, putting down rebellions in Poitou against his father. Richard was a central Christian commander during the Third Crusade, leading the campaign after the departure of Philip II of France and scoring considerable victories against his Muslim counterpart, Saladin, although he did not retake Jerusalem from Saladin. Following his accession he spent very little time, perhaps as little as six months, in England; most of his life as king was spent on Crusade, in captivity, or in actively defending his lands in France. Rather than regarding his kingdom as a responsibility requiring his presence as ruler, he has been perceived as preferring to use it merely as a source of revenue to support his armies.

This is the upcoming COOMODEL SE004 1/6th scale Empires Series - Richard the Lionheart Collectible Figure. It is not a historically accurate figure but more of a fantasy figure. COREPLAY 1:6 scale Female Fitness Body: another alternative option for kitbashing females

It's always good to have more options when kitbashing 1:6 scale stuff. Kitbashing or model bashing is a practice whereby a new scale model is created by taking pieces out of commercial kits. These pieces may be added to a custom project or to another kit. For the hobbyist, kitbashing saves time that would be spent scratch building an entire model. Hobbyists may kitbash to create a model of a subject (real or imaginary) for which there is not a commercial kit. To see the 1:6 scale stuff needed for kitbashing OR just some of my stash, check out my toy blog post HERE.

Kitbashing is different from figure collecting because the latter just means you simply go out and buy a 12-inch figure and add it to your collection. Most of us collect figures but not all of us kitbash. When you want a particular figure in your collection but one is not made available to you by any of the manufacturers, then you have to find other ways to get the figure you want and sometimes, that involves kitbashing :) For example, no one released a 1:6 scale Leonardo DiCaprio as Dom Cobb 12-inch figure from INCEPTION but the head sculpt was made available so I managed to bash not one but two Dom Cobb 12-inch figures - see my posts HERE and HERE.

It used to be that males collect action figures and females collect dolls in general. But when a female features in an action movie (e.g. Princess Leia in Star Wars, Selene in Underworld, Alice in Resident Evil, Black Widow in the Marvel films), does that make the female figure a doll or an action figure? When I started collecting 12-inch figures, I stayed away from dolls but that line has now become very thin and separating the two is rather tricky.

Here's the latest offering of a 1/6th scale female figure for kitbashing by Coreplay. It's called the Fitness Body and two colors will be made available: Light Version and Dark Version. The upcoming Product will consist of: Articulated Female Fitness body, Female head sculpt, Hand set (4 pairs), Arch heel feet, Flat Feet, Bodysuit. As can be seen through the body suit, the female body is the fully jointed type and not a seamless body.

Coming soon: Pangaea Toy PG03 1/6th scale Trojan General "Hector" (Eric Bana in Troy)

Troy is a 2004 American epic adventure war film written by David Benioff and directed by Wolfgang Petersen. It is loosely based on Homer's Iliad, though the film narrates the entire story of the decade-long Trojan War rather than just the quarrel between Achilles and Agamemnon in the ninth year. Achilles leads his Myrmidons along with the rest of the Greek army invading the historical city of Troy, defended by Hector's Trojan army. The end of the film (the sacking of Troy) is not taken from the Iliad, but rather from Virgil's Aeneid as the Iliad concludes with Hector's death and funeral.

The film features an ensemble cast led by Brad Pitt, Eric Bana, and Orlando Bloom. Eric Bana is cast as Hector, a Trojan prince and the greatest fighter for Troy in the Trojan War. As the first-born son of King Priam and Queen Hecuba, who was a descendant of Dardanus and Tros, the founder of Troy, he was a prince of the royal house and the heir apparent to his father's throne.

COO MODEL 1/6th scale Empire Series - 12 Paladins of Charlemagne Collectible Figure

The Paladins, sometimes known as the Twelve Peers, were the foremost warriors of Charlemagne's court, according to the literary cycle known as the Matter of France. They first appear in the early chansons de geste such as The Song of Roland, where they represent Christian valour against the Saracen hordes inside Europe. The paladins and their associated exploits are largely later fictional inventions, with some basis in historical Frankish retainers of the 8th century and events such as the Battle of Roncevaux Pass in 778 and the confrontation of the Frankish Empire with Umayyad Al-Andalus in the Marca Hispanica.

The Twelve Peers were Charlemagne's elite paladins or knights - the corps d'elite. The Twelve Peers were sort of like Arthur's Knights of the Round Table. Each paladin was a formidable warrior. And each peer has a companion to fight alongside him. Roland had Oliver as his companion. So in the time of battle they fought in pair. It is not so much to defend each back, as to kill as many of their enemies, matching the prowess of their companion. For a knight or paladin, courage and glory are paramount to them. The Twelve Peers commanded Charlemagne's first division in the army. They were the crack troop and advance-guard, meant to spearhead in any attack of a battle. This division is numbered twenty-thousand strong.

Red Diorama "Gateway Light Up Base" scene: Great setup for almost any sci-fi diorama scene

This is my third posting of 1:6 scale diorama scenes by Red Diorama. The first toy blog post was on the Red Diorama "I shot the bus driver" scene - see the entry HERE and the second was the Red Diorama "Throne" scene: the perfect setting for 12-inch Loki, god of mischief, adoptive brother of Thor OR any other malevolent would-be / wannabe ruler of the world / galaxy / universe who needs a temporary throne while he ponders the next step in his grand scheme of things. The Red Diorama "Gateway Light Up Base" scene, as the name implies, is a technological or magical doorway that connects two distant locations separated by spacetime. It usually consists of two or more gateways, with an object entering one gateway leaving via the other instantaneously. Places linked by a gateway or portal include a different spot in the same universe (in which case it might be an alternative for teleportation); a parallel world (inter-dimensional portal); the past or the future (time portal); and other planes of existence, such as heaven, hell or other afterworlds.

There are so many possibilities with a gateway scene / diorama and I went with Hot Toys MMS255 "Guardians of the Galaxy" 1/6th scale Star-Lord Collectible Figure (which I had reviewed already HERE, HERE and HERE). Here we see Star-Lord exiting the Red Diorama "Gateway Light Up Base" scene which measures 26cm L x 26cm W x 42cm H.

Hot Toys Star Wars: The Force Awakens 1/6th First Order Flametrooper action figure Review II

"FLAME ON!"

Specialised stormtroopers of the First Order, flametroopers carry incendiary weapons that can transform any battlefield into a blazing inferno. When strategically deployed, flametroopers can deprive the enemy of safe cover by touching it, while supplying cover for friendly forces in the form of walls of fire that stormtrooper armor can withstand. In particularly dry and flammable environments, flametrooper deployment may lead to a quick and decisive victory, as the fires started by their weaponry grow to rapidly engulf any resistance.

This is the recently released highly-accurate ultra-detailed Hot Toys "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" 1:6 scale First Order Flametrooper 12-inch collectible figure, specially crafted based on the image of First Order Flametrooper in the latest Star Wars film. The figure comes with a flame effect accesory which adds a nice touch to the overall look of the figure when it is added. In this second part review, the flametrooper is shown with weapon raised (weapon in question is the D-93w Incinerator Flamethrower or double barrelled flame projector gun) and shooting flames out of the ignition chamber and barrel via the Peizoelectrical ignition system.

Red Diorama "Throne" scene: the perfect setting for Loki, god of mischief, adoptive brother of Thor

Continuing my review of the Red Diorama scenes (check out my previous toy blog post of the Red Diorama "I shot the bus driver" scene HERE), this particular diorama scene Hot Toys 12-inch Loki is standing on is the 1:6 scale "THRONE" which measures 24-inch L by 22-inch W by 10-inch H. The Red Diorama "Throne" scene is painted in gold and there's a nice sheen to it when it catches the light when displayed. It looks most appropriate for any 1:6 scale would-be / wannabe ruler of the world / galaxy / universe who needs a temporary throne while he ponders the next step in his grand scheme of things.

The 1:6 scale figure in the picture is the Hot Toys MMS231 "Thor: The Dark World" 1/6th scale Loki 12-inch Collectible Figure with authentic and detailed fully realized likeness of Tom Hiddleston as Loki (see the preview pictures HERE). He has both the 1/6th scale Aether and short scepter.

Square Enix Play Arts Kai Final Fantasy XII Gabranth 11-inch tall action figure preview

Gabranth is a Judge Magister, one of the highest ranking members of the Archadian Empire’s military, acknowledged by his compatriots as someone whose extraordinary abilities have been well vetted.

With this in mind, our designers have put great thought into recreating his powerful presence and majestic stance. They have taken pains to recreate the characteristics of his armor, emphasizing its realistic finish. The ornate details etched into it exude an inexplicable power, accentuating Gabranth's eminence. Through the impressive sculpt work, one can almost feel its weight. Review 1: Hot Toys Star Wars: The Force Awakens 1/6th First Order Flametrooper figure

A flamethrower is a mechanical incendiary device designed to project a long, controllable stream of fire. They were first used by the Greeks in the 1st Century AD. In modern times, they were used during World War I, and more widely in World War II. Modern flamethrowers were first used during the trench warfare conditions of World War I; their use greatly increased in World War II. They can be vehicle mounted, as on a tank, or man-portable.

Somebody must have thought it would be cool to have Stormtroopers armed with flamethrowers for "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" and hence the First Order Flametrooper was born.

Commonly known as "roasters", "hotheads" or "burnouts" by Resistance fighters, First Order flametroopers were best used to flush out enemy entrenchments, with standard infantry firing on those fleeing the flames. Flametroopers were one of three main types of weapons specialists assigned to stormtrooper squads of ten. Flametroopers and stormtroopers worked in tandem, as the faster stormtroopers could protect the slower methodical flametroopers while out in the field. The flame itself was nearly inescapable when directed at an opponent.

VERY COOL based on the successful launching of online game "fighting the Ares” 1/6th scale movable dolls, again has obtained the authorization of Tencent games to develop 1/6 of the movable doll series of the mobile games “the national assault". "The national assault" is the first FPS gun battle hand game of the Tencent's games.

The little sister with the lovely and lively personality, is good at using the sniper rifle to control the battlefield and give the most effective support to teammates.

She has playful pink hair, lovely yet capable, and a pair of watery eyes, two lovely willow eyebrows, with a pair of sunglasses, which shows a bit small strong sense of Laurie imitating female man, so the little sister will make you lose heart!

Red Diorama "I shot the bus driver" scene: Recreate opening scene from The Dark Knight

Dioramas are nice additions to any 12-inch figure collection. The 1:6 scale model with its familiar surrounding brings the viewer immediately to the iconic scene he has seen before and makes the 12-inch figure seem more real and relatable. Case in point: Red Diorama's "I shot the bus driver" scene. Measuring 80cm in length by 50 cm in breadth and 80cm in height (it even lights up - see the pictures below), it complements any 1:6 scale figure nicely and certainly adds a nice touch to any collection, especially if you are a Christopher Nolan Batman The Dark Knight trilogy fan.

The 1:6 scale figure in the picture is the Hot Toys MMS79 The Dark Knight JOKER (Bank Robber version) 12-inch figure - full review posted on my toy blog way back HERE. Put it in front of Red Diorama's "I shot the bus driver" scene and it evokes a lot of memories of the movie and reminds us once again just how great Heath Ledger's acting was. May 2016 Haul #2: Hot Toys 1/6th Star Wars Princess Leia & First Order Flametrooper figures

These were part of my May 2016 haul: Hot Toys MMS298 "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" 1/6th scale Princess Leia Collectible Figure and Hot Toys MMS326 "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" 1:6 scale The First Order Flametrooper 12-inch collectible figure. I thought it would be interesting to do a size comparison of both figures since they both came in the same size box (the boring standard black box) but one figure occupies a lot less space than the other. No prizes for guessing who. Things has certainly changed when it comes to 12-inch figures. It used to be that all 1:6 scale figures were 12 inches tall but that's not the case anymore. I think Hot Toys was the first company to produce accurate height figures i.e. the figure would be as tall as his or her 1:1 scale counterpart. And since most female actors are shorter than their male counterpart, the 1:6 scale figure of these female characters also have a shorter body to be movie-accurate.

I've done size comparison posts before and shown how the newer Hot Toys 1:6 scale figures differ from the earlier released versions in height and size. Hot Toys has produced and released many 1/6th scale Arnold Schwarzenegger figures and the newer Arnies (32cm) tower over the older ones (30cm) - You can check out my toy blog post HERE for the size comparisons. The opposite is true for Scarjo - 1:6 scale Scarlett Johansson got shorter in Avengers compared to the Iron Man 2 Black Widow - see the size comparison post HERE.

Art Figures 1:6 scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop 2.0 - new addition to the Judge Dredd family

Dredd is a 2012 science fiction action film directed by Pete Travis and written and produced by Alex Garland. It is based on the 2000 AD comic strip Judge Dredd and its eponymous character created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra. Karl Urban stars as Judge Dredd, a law enforcer given the power of judge, jury and executioner in a vast, dystopic metropolis called Mega-City One that lies in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Dredd and his apprentice partner, Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), are forced to bring order to a 200-storey high-rise block of flats and deal with its resident drug lord, Ma-Ma (Lena Headey). While Dredd works his way towards Ma-Ma, she calls in the corrupt Judges Lex, Kaplan, Chan and Alvarez.

This is the third figure to be offered by Art Figures as part of their Judge Dredd series. Their first figure, Dredd himself, was a HUGE success (check out the Art Figures AF-015 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop "DREDD" 12-inch action figure review posted on my toy blog HERE and HERE) and Art Figures followed up with Judge Anderson (preview pictures HERE) but faced a serious challenge from VTS which offered a much better alternative (post HERE). So now Art Figures is adding a third figure into the fray.

BOM Toys 1:6 scale Zombie Police Officer 12" Figure is going to be part of the walking dead

For those of us who have been slogging all week waiting for the weekend to come, this figure represents what we must feel like - a walking zombie! Didn't know zombies have police officers to watch over them. Aren't the walking dead exempt from any law enforcement? LOL In all seriousness, if there is a zombie apocalypse, no one will be spared, whether or not he is a officer of the law... unless he's Judge Dredd. Then the zombies better watch out!

Preview Glitch Network X Machine56 1/6th scale Bonehead: Black Death 12-inch collectible figure

Presenting preview / prototype pictures of Glitch Network X Machine56 1/6th scale Bonehead: Black Death 12-inch action figure. Each Set includes the following: 1 (one) Authentic Black Death figure designed by Machine56 in 1/6th scale, 3 (three) pairs of interchangeable hands, 1 custom Baseball bat with hidden blade (Die-cast), 1 Mech Slayer and 1 A5 size limited prints.

I already got the Glitch Network Mitsuru Technology BoneHead Test Subject 56 1/6th scale figure last year from STGCC 2015 (see the action figure review posted on my toy blog HERE, HERE and HERE) and while mine is the red, black and white version, clearly this latest offering is just black and white. The head sculpt / helmet is the same design with a different color scheme from the earlier Test Subject 56. The bat with hidden sword and Mech Slayer are also similar, as are the shoes. The outfit is the only thing totally different. This rendition makes the figure look more skull-like.

MEZCO Toys One:12 Collective series 1/12th scale Space Ghost action figure with monkey Blip

Intergalactic crime fighter Space Ghost patrols the known galaxies in his ship the Phantom Cruiser. Using the powerbands on his wrists Space Ghost deploys different types of energy rays. The bands are capable of emitting magna rays, destroyer rays, freeze rays, and can even produce a force-field ray depending on what combinations of buttons he presses.

The One:12 Collective Space Ghost includes each of these rays as meticulously crafted accessories that attach to Space Ghost's hands to create dynamic action poses. Using his belt, he not only has the ability to fly but the power of invisibility as well. The belt also allows him to phase through walls and other solid objects. A communicator is concealed in the silhouette on his cowl collar, allowing him to interface not only with the Phantom Cruiser and his base on the Ghost Planet, but Blip the monkey as well.

Featuring over 32 points of articulation, intricate sculptural work, incredible costume detailing and tons of accessories, the final product creates an iconic classic vision with a "real world" look. Space Ghost comes with his trusted companion, Blip the monkey. Blip features an exceptionally realistic sculpt and has over 10 points of articulation.

Kitbash 1/6th scale Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man 12" figure (parts unknown)

While we are on the subject of alter egos and what a superhero wears when he's not saving the city / world / galaxy - see previous toy blog post HERE - how about what Spider-Man wears when he's not wall crawling or web swinging around New York city.

There have been quite a number of Spider-Man films made. The first Spider-Man film I ever saw was the 1977 American live-action made-for-television superhero film with Nicholas Hammond as Peter Parker / Spider-Man. Then came the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man (3 films) followed by The Amazing Spider-Man with Andrew Garfield in the lead role and the latest actor to fill those shoes is Tom Holland in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017).

I picked this guy up the other day and he's basically a kitbash 1/6th scale Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker (Spider-Man) 12-inch figure from The Amazing Spiderman (2012). The outfit resembles the PIRP 1/6th scale Spider Boy Amazing Winter Casual Wear Set (posted earlier on my toy blog HERE) but it is not the same outfit although similar elements are present.
