FoxBox Studio "God Complex: Hermes" 1/6 Figure REVIEW 1

I was pleased as Punch when I received this package last week :) Having seen the preview pictures of the FoxBox Studio "God Complex: Hermes" 1/6 Scale Collectible Figure earlier (posted HERE), I couldn't wait to see how the final product would look like. Well, I wasn't disappointed at all.

In Greek mythology, Hermes (Greek Ἑρμῆς) is the great messenger of the gods and a guide to the Underworld. Hermes is the son of Zeus and the nymph Maia, daughter of Atlas and one of the Pleiades. Hermes is the god of shepherds, land travel, merchants, weights and measures, oratory, literature, athletics and thieves, and known for his cunning and shrewdness. Most importantly, he is the messenger of the gods.

Foxbox Studio has certainly drawn inspiration from the mythical greek gods for their foray into the 1/6 scale 12-inch market. Instead of just producing more countless Special Operations Forces operators, Foxbox Studio has gone and created a new line, a new hero and a whole new kind of figure, one that has certainly piqued the interest of quite a number of 1/6 toy collectors. Their God Complex: Hermes 1/6 scale Collectible Figure (limited to just 100 pieces worldwide) was completely sold out before Zeus could even summon up lightning into his hands. I am one of the few who managed to get one and I am certainly most pleased with this 12-inch figure :)

A god complex is an unshakable belief characterized by consistently inflated feelings of personal ability, privilege, or infallibility. A person with a god complex may refuse to admit the possibility of error or failure, even in the face of complex or intractable problems or difficult or impossible tasks, or may regard personal opinions as unquestionably correct. The individual may disregard the rules of society and require special consideration or privileges.

The FoxBox Studio "God Complex: Hermes" 1/6 Figure sits neatly inside the foam tray. The shape of the tray is interesting because it reminded me of Anubis, the jackal-headed god associated with mummification and the afterlife in ancient Egyptian religion.

Certificate of Authenticity says that the figure I have is number 92 of 100.

Under the main figure tray is a second tray containing Hermes' accessories: extra pair of hands, sling bag and flames. The flames are for attaching to his boots to simulate flight.

A little backstory: Acropolis, Inc, the first corporation to distribute energy to the people of Hellenic Republic, was founded by primary Ruler, Zeus. Zeus has many sons and among them is Hermes. Although he is chosen to be among the big twelve in the company, he has never been Zeus' favorite. He is always the one doing most of the work even if the glory always falls on his brothers. Hermes is quick witted and he does not need physical prowess to get what he wants. Despite being born a Ruler, Hermes is a human sympathizer and he will be a central character in aiding the humans to rise against the Rulers.

This is the FoxBox Studio "God Complex: Hermes" 1/6 Figure out of the box confines, free to roam. The figure is really nice and I like the design very much :) Besides the ultra cool head design, Hermes' outfit is very fashionable and trendy. He wears white long sleeve shirt under his fancy gray vest with orange pipings and matching buttons, gray pants with leather belt and buckle AND really cool looking boots!

Here are some close-up views of the stylish designer head that is Hermes'. I initially thought it was a helmet when I first saw it but since Hermes is one of the gods aka rulers, this is what he looks like.

I like that the designer Bryan Lie made Hermes look bird-like even with the futuristic design of the head that has all the sleek lines and curves. The two protrusions at the bottom rear look like tail feathers while the ones on top look like head feather protrusions. Its all very apt since Hermes is a messenger and flying is one of the fastest way to travel, hence the bird-like head design for hermes :)

Now for a closer look at the fabric outfit that Hermes wears. Since he isn't a commoner, designer togs are the way to go and you have to admit, he is quite stylishly dressed in the gray vest with orange pipings. That's the beauty of 1/6 scale figures. You can customize with different outfits and they can look rather realistic, almost like the real thing. Can't do that with plastic molded figures that have molded on clothes / costumes.

Matching gray pants to go with his designer vest. Check out those boots

Beautiful boot design. Why don't we get more of these in 1/6 scale? Just awesome footwear.
