Let's compare the two 1/6 scale 12-inch Henry Jones Sr collectible figures released so far, one by Medicom (left in picture below) and the other by Sideshow (right). Before Sideshow's version, Medicom Professor Henry Jones Sr looked pretty good by itself but now, seems upstaged by Sideshow.
One of the most surprising thing about the Sideshow Henry Jones Sr is his height. Sideshow Henry is as tall as Medicom Henry and we all know that most of Medicom's 1/6 figures are the shortest in 1/6 scale. They are also of smaller built so does that make Sideshow Henry short and stout? You be the judge.
Close-up pictures comparing head sculpts - Sideshow beats Medicom. Medicom Henry's hat looks like something Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore made from their famous pottery wheel scene in the movie "Ghost (1990)" (even Whoopi Goldberg as Oda Mae Brown would disapprove LOL)
Comparing briefcase and umbrella (brolly)
Once again, Sideshow beats Medicom in the paintwork and weathering department. Not too sure about the umbrella or briefcase size as Sideshow's briefcase seems a little bit too small when placed with the umbrella as compared with the Medicom version. From pictures I've seen, Medicom seems to have the scale right, at least for the briefcase.
Will the real Henry Jones Sr please own up? Sideshow Henry to Medicom Henry: "I'm entrusting you with my precious Grail diary, my life's work, since Medicom neglected to make you one. Make sure it never leaves your side and don't send it back to our son Indy because he'll only give it to the Germans."
Sideshow Henry Jones Sr is shorter than Sideshow Indiana Jones - what gives?! I don't think Sean Connery is a small man and both men (Sean Connery and Harrison Ford) should be of the same height. What's wrong with Sideshow? Why can't they get it right?
A taller Indy with a shorter Henry, no thanks to Sideshow :(
Indy: "OMG Dad! You've shrunk. What did Sideshow do to you? Those inconsistent, incompetent side-show freaks". Henry: "You don't look any better JUNIOR. At least I still got my looks."
Sideshow 1/6 scale Sean Connery as Professor Henry Jones Sr head sculpt is so much better than their first offering (Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, see picture below - more pictures HERE). Seems like Sideshow almost always screws up on their first figure of a particular series. Besides Indy, other cock-ups include Fox Mulder of the X-Files, Aragorn from Lord of the Rings and Monkey arms Jedi Luke from Star Wars, just to name a few.
