September Haul

Just some of the stuff I managed to get in September :) Number ONE on the list: Hot Toys 1/6 scale Movie Masterpiece Series MMS139 - "Resident Evil: Afterlife" - Alice 12-inch figure. This one has been a long time coming. I've been wanting a Milla Jovovich female action figure since watching "Fifth Element" and now finally that has been realized with this Milla Jovovich as Alice 1/6 femfig from the movie "Resident Evil: Afterlife".

The Hot Toys 1/6 scale Movie Masterpiece Series MMS139 - "Resident Evil: Afterlife" - Alice 12-inch figure comes with quite a bit of stuff (I think more than Black Widow, Thor and Odin combined) and I really like it. More on that in later posts ;p

Also at the same time as the Hot Toys "Resident Evil: Afterlife" Alice release is the Hot Toys newest TrueType TTM18 Caucasian 12-inch figure. The head sculpt bears a strong resemblance to Wentworth Miller (he of "Prison Break" fame). The other most obvious reason is because Wentworth Miller was also in the "Resident Evil: Afterlife" film as Chris Redfield.

When Miller first read the script he thought the association to Prison Break was a practical joke, with his imprisonment and his first line being, "I know a way out of here" but later came to see it as a chance to take the character to a different ending.

Certainly an interesting subject for a kitbash since what he wears and has on him isn't too difficult to put together :) Looking forward to the challenge haha

I also got the Sideshow Collectibles Star Wars 1/6 scale Commander Bly 12-inch armored trooper figure. This will be my second Clone Commander figure after the earlier reviewed Clone Commander Cody (see the post HERE with lots of pictures)

There's also Playhouse 5th Anniversary Edition 1/6 scale US Army Special Forces (CJSOTF-A) 12-inch military figure. Playhouse was the "military" division of Hot Toys when they were still releasing military figures, before they got bitten by the Hollywood bug (ka-ching ka-ching the cash registers have been ringing non-stop for Hot Toys since their MMS - Movie Masterpiece Series - line got started). So Playhouse decided to go it on their own and IMHO their stuff is one of the best in the market, quality and innovation wise. No rehashing of old stuff or recasting other manufacturer's products to sell to unsuspecting collectors.

(CJSOTF-A) - that stands for Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force - Afghanistan. These are the special forces guys still operating deep inside Afghanistan, helping the world rid itself of terrorists and terrorism. And this Playhouse version that I got is a very rare one indeed :) The others come with gold stamping but this one's in Silver because there is something different inside. More on that later too haha

Check this out! This is the Loading Toys Hot Masks set (Set of 6 masks with straps are included). The masks are really cool with lots of kitbashing possibilities. Can't wait to take them out and play ;p

And finally there's the Loading Toys Soaper (Two Heads) that come in a rather cool box packaging designed to look like a bomb.

The Loading Toys Soaper (Two Heads) contain the 1/6 head sculpts of Edward Norton and Brad Pitt, and a bar of soap. Both actors were in the 1999 American film "Fight Club" which was based on the 1996 novel of the same name by Chuck Palahniuk. Norton plays the unnamed protagonist, an "everyman" who is discontented with his white-collar job. He forms a "fight club" with soap maker Tyler Durden, played by Pitt, and becomes embroiled in a relationship with him and a dissolute woman, Marla Singer, played by Bonham Carter.

Brother Production had already released a Fighting Club 1:6 scale "Tayler" 12-inch figure (check out my review HERE) which was most obviously inspired by Brad Pitt's character, Tyler Durden from "Fight Club".  These two new heads will make a great addition to the collection :)

So that's all for now Folks :) hope to be able to post more pictures and do more comprehensive reviews in the near future.

Alex, was Commander Bly a character in the movie?? OR the character in the anime series The Clone War??

Hey Desmond, Clone commander 5052, also known as Bly, was the leader of the Star Corps of clone troopers assigned to Jedi General Aayla Secura. He served with her on the exotic world of Felucia when he received Order 66. This was shown in Episode III. CHEERS
