Review I: Kumik 1/6 scale Underworld Selene (Kate Beckinsale) 12-inch Female Figure

Selene is a fictional character from the Underworld series. She is the main protagonist of the films Underworld, Underworld: Evolution, and Underworld: Awakening. Selene was created by Kevin Grevioux, Len Wiseman, and Danny McBride. According to Kevin Grevioux, Selene is based loosely on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Selene (Kate Beckinsale) is a Vampire Death Dealer bent on destroying the Lycans (werewolf) who allegedly killed her family.

There have been quite a few Underworld Selene-inspired 12-inch female figures released of late, one from Phicen Limited, one from FigureFun and this one from Kumik. I chose this Kumik version simply because I love the 1/6 scale realistic and life-like Kate Beckinsale as Underworld Selene head sculpt :) In this instance, the rooted hair works very well and enhances the realism of the figure.

Kathrin Romary "Kate" Beckinsale (born 26 July 1973) is an English actress who had a break-out year in 2001 with starring roles in the war film Pearl Harbor and the romantic comedy Serendipity. Beckinsale became known as an action star following an appearance in 2003's Underworld and has since starred in many action films, including Van Helsing (2004), Underworld: Evolution (2006), Whiteout (2009), as well as Contraband, Underworld: Awakening, and Total Recall (all in 2012).

Kumik's box is plain and simple - black with a sticker on the front that says "Kate Beckinsale", obviously taken from the movie poster / internet (easily available). So Kumik is outrightly saying this is a 1:6 scale Kate Beckinsale 12-inch female action figure?

The figure comes without her hair piece which is packed separately (some assembly required ;p by that I mean you have to stick her hair onto her "head" to complete the look). Kumik 1/6 scale Underworld Selene (Kate Beckinsale) 12-inch Female Figure comes dressed in her all black outfit as shown with the detachable / removable corset and two pistols (they look like Beretta 92 and they are one moulded piece without removable pistol magazines or any moving parts for that matter) and the additional black long coat (shown in the next post).

Kumik 1/6 scale Underworld Selene (Kate Beckinsale) 12-inch Female Figure comes with one thigh holster which is glued / attached to her outfit.

Although she comes equipped with two Beretta pistols, she only has one pistol gripping right gloved hand. Her left gloved hand is not designed to hold the pistol and required some adjustment to get her to grip it properly.

Her boots are nice. I much prefer them molded than to have the straps going all over and making the footwear look unusually big as in the case of Phicen's Selena and Figure Fun's Selene. Also Phicen's Selena doesn't look anything like Kate Beckinsale.

IMHO, this Kumik 1/6 scale Underworld Selene 12-inch Female Figure is by far the best resemblance to Kate Beckinsale and the rooted hair certainly helps to add to the realism :)

Very nice head sculpt, the best so far. I hope production is as good as this one. Anyone had experience with this company? How is the quality and cost. If it's priced like Hot Toys that will be too rich for my blood.

This is an actual in-hand product and has already been released. It costs me less than USD100 so it's nothing like Hot Toys pricing which is why I got it :)

Her costume. Why am I keep on thinking that a Kitbash of Will Smith 'after earth' movie can be done?! :p

Can we?!

Female bodies are much smaller than male figure bodies ;p as it is, the costume is quite a tight fit.
