Review 1: DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 Spade 2 12-inch figure - animated Vinnie Jones

Having seen and reviewed DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade J 12-inch figure (animated Jason Statham) in my earlier toy blog posts HERE, HERE and HERE, it's time to look at the recently released DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade 2 12-inch figure which looks a lot like an animated Vinnie Jones.

Vincent Peter "Vinnie" Jones (born 5 January 1965) is a British actor and former professional footballer. Jones was renowned for his "hard man" image during his playing days. He was sent off 12 times in his career, as well as holding the record for the quickest ever booking in a football match, being booked after just three seconds for a foul on the opposition player Dane Whitehouse in a Premier League tie between Chelsea and Sheffield United in 1992. Vinnie Jones made his 1998 feature film debut in Guy Ritchie's "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" alongside Jason Statham. The film brought Guy Ritchie international acclaim and introduced actors Vinnie Jones, a former Welsh international footballer, and Jason Statham, a former street merchant and men's wear model, to worldwide audiences. Jones later starred in Guy Ritchie's next blockbuster "Snatch" as Bullet-Tooth Tony.

While DAM Toys very first Gangsters Kingdom 12-inch figure Spade J was shipped in a plain black box packaging (see the pictures HERE), Spade 2 comes in a purple box with an illustration of the character on the back of the box.

The inside flap has a backstory: Nelson is Ogier's (Spade J) brother, a British orphan adopted by Ogier's father. Nelson trained as a boxer but enjoyed Baseball more, turning professional for a few years until his quick temper got the better of him. Ogier is the Jack of Spades while Nelson only got the 2 of spades. Nelson runs away and settles in the dangerous slums of Rio, "City of god" where he starts a business dealing in drugs and guns.

The playing card for Spade 2 in the Gangsters Kingdom

Spade 2 (Nelson) 1/6 scale accessories are in a tray below the main tray: Remington 870 Compact Shotgun, metal baseball bat, whiskey flask with whiskey flask carrier, Gold watch, sunglasses and extra left hand

Here's DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 Spade 2 (Nelson) 12-inch figure (animated Vinnie Jones) straight out of the box

DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade 2 (Nelson) 12-inch figure comes with 1/6 scale animated Vinnie Jones head sculpt, 12-inch Action Figure body, Black T-shirt, Long Sleeve Tee (hooded sweater), Baseball Jacket, Gold Necklace, blue jeans, skating board shoes (one pair).

That's three layers of clothing Spade 2 is wearing. In the next review, I'll be showing what he wears underneath the baseball jacket and hooded sweater

Spade 2's 1/6 scale baseball jacket has a very nice and detailed design on the back which says "Death baseball"

The DAM Toys Spade 2 head sculpt is really very nice and looks much better than the drawing of him on the card

There's no mistaking that this is Vinnie Jones who was also Juggernaut in the 2006 film, "X-Men: The Last Stand"

I absolutely love this stylized caricature version head sculpt of Vinnie Jones. The best part of it all is you don't have to pay a premium price for it. Back in the day and even now, Hot Toys charges a premium for stylized figures like these designed by some of the Hong Kong toy designers. There's no movie license to be paid so the cost doesn't seem justifiable.

Now we can get these great sculpts for a most reasonable price. Considering the quality of the sculpts and highly detailed and well stitched fabric clothing costumes and well made accessories, I think this is really value for money :)

The frown, the frustrated and angry demeanor comes off very well.

He's got the "I'll kill you right where you stand" look

check out the embroidered logo sewn onto the back of his baseball jacket. Amazing!

This figure deserves all the praise you're heaping on it!

I have it too, and along with Spade J aka Ogier (Jason Statham), these are two of my fave figures of 2013!

Definitely my favorite new line this year.

Cheers Alex,
Kaido

Nice write-up! I'm looking forward to seeing part 2 of your review. SO glad I picked this guy up...thanks to your preview awhile back!

Truth be told, your blog is the reason I started to grow my 1:6 collection. This line in particular is a standout in my small collection.

Spade 3 looks like a winner too!

Has anyone heard any news on restock updates on the SPADE J figure? Rumor has it the hat was staining the head so they postponed deliveries to fix the problem. I'm still waiting on mine :(

Hi Alex, the shotgun shells do come out of the shell holder, just use a tiny bit more force to push them out. They're not glued. Then you can reload them facing down or any way you like.
