Commander Cody Order 66 Statue by Attakus Preview

Remember what I said in my previous post about how companies are producing stuff just to take away all that hard-earned money we adults make? This is one sure way to rip people off - produce a stone sculpture / statue in the shape of a popular character and then market to adults as a collectible. After giving the stone a recognizable shape and painting it, sell it off at a HIGH price and pocket the difference.

This Star Wars Commander Cody Order 66 Statue collectible statue will soon be released by Attakus. These detailed statues present some of the greatest characters in the Galaxy. Standing 15.8 inches high and featuring a light-up Order 66 hologram, the Commander Cody Order 66 Statue features the once-trusted clone trooper commander at the moment the clones turned on the Jedi. PRICE: US$424.99!!!

The Attakus Star Wars licensed statue comes as one stiff solid piece of cast stone with NO articulation, NO switchable alternate heads, NO removable outfit / armor / costume, NO accessories, gear or weapons and yet cost US$300 MORE than the Sideshow Collectibles 1:6 scale Star Wars Commander Cody 12-inch figure which retailed at US$124.99. At US$424.99 for a stiff stone sculpture just standing there, you could buy three 12-inch articulated clone troopers with multiple pose-abilities plus have change left over. Which would you choose? I would think the answer should be most obvious: 1:6 scale 12-inch figures with full articulation and multiple pose-abilities beat statue hands down!

The Statute comes with a light-up Order 66 hologram - BIG deal ;p If you have been collecting for a while, you'll know the limitations of light-up features. (1) You cannot keep the thing lighted up forever because the batteries will run out and then you have to change them (2) If you keep the batteries inside the statue / figure and you forget to change the batteries, they might leak and damage the electronic circuit and then the light-up feature will not work anymore :( so, to be on the safe side (3) you take out the batteries. Then what is the point of paying over US$400 figure for a statue with a light-up feature and then not have it work?

I've posted comparison side-by-side pictures of the Sideshow Collectibles 1:6 scale Star Wars Commander Cody 12-inch figure with this pre-release Attakus Commander Cody Order 66 Statue to show how the statue pales in comparison with the 12-inch figure. Scroll down to see them :)

Below are pictures of the Attakus Commander Cody Order 66 Statue (on the left) standing beside the Sideshow Collectibles 1:6 scale Star Wars Commander Cody 12-inch figure (on the right) which I had reviewed earlier in my post HERE

Cody vs Cody - Click on the picture for a LARGER view :)

I much prefer the 12-inch articulated Commander Cody with his blaster as I feel he looks more dramatic and impressive in stature than the ultra expensive yet ultra stiff looking statue which does nothing but just stand there.

Clone vs clone - Click on the picture for a BIGGER view :)

I can even re-pose the 1:6 scale articulated Cody to look just like the statue if I so choose to. That is the beauty of 1:6 scale 12-inch articulated figures.

Back to back - click on the picture for a BETER view :)

With the statue, one post (blog entry) would probably be enough to review it, being cast in stone and all. With the 1:6 scale 12-inch articulated Commander Cody figure with his many gear and accessories plus switchable helmets and head plus weapons (3 types), it took me three posts to cover all the pictures I took of this excellent figure :)

Light or no light - what's the difference?

See what I mean? How is this statue better than the 1:6 scale figure? Why is the statue priced so much higher when it is nowhere near as good or as cool as the 12-inch tall version? Bring on the next 1:6 scale 12-inch clone trooper :)

Come on, play nice. There are always 32 articulation points 12 inch collectors and statue collectors. So just let the statue collectors spend their hard earned money on it.

I'm just confused WHY statue collectors would pay so much more for a piece of stone ;p everyone has a right to choose and decide what they collect in the end :)
