There are more variations of 12-inch figure body types than ever before. These latest preview / prototype pictures of ZC World ZCWO 1/6 scale NYPD New York Police Department Police Officer "Murphy" version 2.0 shows a figure that has munched one too many donuts. This is not the first fat figure to be produced. There have been quite a few fat figures released recently and take-up rate wasn't that great because not many collectors want to own a FAT figure unless he's somebody from Hollywood and rather famous, and has featured prominently in a superhero movie. We are all still waiting for a 1/6 scale Danny DeVito Penguin from "Batman Returns (1992)".

Preview Kotobukiya Marvel Comics Thor Avengers Now! ARTFX+ 1/10 scale Statue

A Kotobukiya Japanese import! Marvel Comics is the next great property to get Kotobukiya’s ARTFX+ statue treatment, and so of course the first series is none other than the Avengers, specifically the characters as they appear in Marvel Now! In 2012 the comic book company relaunched several titles, shifting some characters into different books and updating some for a modern audience. More than anything, it provided a perfect jumping on point for new readers. Now the characters are brought to life as never before based on concept artwork by superstar artist Adi Granov. Joining his previously released teammates the Hulk, Black Widow, Captain America, and Hawkeye is the Asgardian warrior Thor!

In 1962 comic book mastermind Stan Lee set out to create a new superhero, one who was incredibly powerful. He found such a character in Norse mythology, the god of thunder. A true champion of good, Thor has fought beside many other Marvel Comics superheroes throughout the years, including several incarnations of the Avengers. He has even starred in two feature films as well as the ensemble Avengers movie! In the Marvel Now Thor continues to fight the good fight in his own book as well as with his fellow Avengers that are gathered in this ARTFX+ series as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Always eager for glorious combat, the Asgardian is captured in a relaxed battle stance, turned sideways and holding out his hammer Mjolnir in front of him. Medicom Toys Real Action Hero (RAH) Kick-Ass 2 1/6 scale David Lizewski Kick-Ass 12" figure

Kick-Ass 2 is a 2013 British-American superhero action comedy film based on the comic book of the same name and Hit-Girl, both by Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr., and is the sequel to the 2010 film Kick-Ass, as well as the second installment of the Kick-Ass film series. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays David Lizewski / Kick-Ass, who partners Chloë Grace Moretz as Mindy Macready / Hit-Girl to fight crime.

Medicom Toys has released new images and info for their upcoming Real Action Hero (RAH) Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays David Lizewski / Kick-Ass Figure. The 1/6 scale fully articulated figure features a cloth outfit, a newly designed body, and his trademark club weapons. Kick-Ass joins the previously released RAH Hit Girl. The RAH Kick-Ass is due out February 14th, 2015 and will have a suggested price of 20,520 Yen, which is about $200 USD.

Every 1/6 scale company seems to be trying for something new, something that they hope will click with collectors, something that stands out from the flood of 12-inch figures flowing into the market, begging for the collector's money pocket. Everyone seems to have enough of WWII figures, especially Germans (or am I wrong?) and since most companies don't want to run foul of the law in terms of copyright infringements, it's best to stay away from movie-related figures if one doesn't have the licensing rights, nor expect collectors to pay high prices for their products.

So what do you do if you are a 1/6 scale manufacturer jumping on the band wagon of 12-inch figures demanded by hungry and eager 1/6 scale collectors who are willing to fork out good money for stuff to add to their collection and feed their addiction? You think out of the box.

This is Coo Model's Iron Island Battle Royale NO:SK07 1/6 scale SERGEANT “DEVIL JOHNNY” 12-inch figure. Coo Model have already previewed and released two 1/6 scale "Iron Island" Jack-5 12-inch figures (check out the pictures HERE and HERE) and while I wasn't too keen on those robot figures, this latest figure by Coo Model seems to have caught my attention.

Check out these ACI 1/6 scale Ancient Greek Hoplites 12-inch figures - simply AWESOME!

Hoplites were citizen-soldiers of Ancient Greek city-states who were primarily armed with spears and shields. Their main tactic was the phalanx formation. They were primarily free citizens—propertied farmers and artisans—who were able to afford the bronze armor suit and weapons (estimated at a third to a half of its able-bodied adult male population). Hoplites generally received basic military training.

The most famous of the Greek hoplites were the Spartans. In 690 BC, the Spartan army adopted a military innovation known as the phalanx formation. This new tactic proved successful during the Battle of Marathon in 490 BC and the Battle of Plataea in 479 BC, when the Greeks defeated the Persians. The Persian archers and light troops who fought in the Battle of Marathon failed, in part, because their bows were too weak for their arrows to penetrate the Greek shields and armor, and their own armor and shields could not stand up to the longer spears and swords of the Greeks.

ACI Toys ACI-17B 1/6 scale Ancient Greek Hoplite 12-inch figure

Each hoplite provided his own equipment. Thus, only those who could afford such weaponry fought as hoplites; as with the Roman Republican army it was the middle classes who formed the bulk of the infantry. Equipment was not standardised, although there were doubtless trends in general designs over time, and between city-states. Hoplites had customized armour, the shield was decorated with family or clan emblems, although in later years these were replaced by symbols or monograms of the city states. The equipment might well be passed down in families, since it would have been expensive to manufacture.

Chapter 4: Butcher Knife

The 3 of diamonds, Juarez, is born in Mexico. He was the boss of the Scorpion family, before one man, “the mad dog” betrayed him and sent him behind bars. He got out of prison with the help of a little cash, but all the gang members loyal to him were already eliminated by the mad dog. Juarez no longer had his prestige, and when his own gang started hunting him, he chose to fight back. Juarez returned to the gang with eleven knives in his coat, left behind a bloodbath and mad dog hanging by his own intestines. This incident caused an earthquake in the underworld of Mexico, eventually several gangs joined together wanting Juarez dead, left him no choice but smuggling into the United States. He joined the Diamond family, the K of Diamonds showed him enough appreciation, but only gave him a card of 3. This was good enough for the poor desperate Juarez. but he has not received any respect ever since. 'Captain America' Characters' Evolution From The '40s To 'Winter Soldier' (1940 comic to 2014)

My, how times have changed. Remember the time when Bucky was Captain America, the Falcon wore what was essentially a red wrestling suit and Cap donned all black? Neither do we, so thank god for our new infographic charting the evolution in the looks of Captain America, Bucky, the Black Widow, the Falcon and Nick Fury, all the way from the inception of the comics in 1940 to this weekend's release of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier".

With the release of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" (I've already seen it and I do recommend it!), it's a good time as any to look at the evolution of Captain America as well as the characters featured in the movie. If you haven't seen the movie and don't want to know who the characters are (but if you are a Marvel comics / Captain America fan, then you already know), stop reading right now! Besides releasing the Batman: Arkham Origins Play Arts Kai Batman 9-inch (23 cm) tall figure, Square Enix will also be releasing the Batman: Arkham Origins Play Arts Kai Deathstroke 9-inch (23 cm) tall figure. Deathstroke will come with additional hands, a sword, a staff, rifle and a pistol.

Deathstroke the Terminator (also known by his name Slade Wilson, originally called simply the Terminator) is a comic book supervillain, and sometimes antihero, who appears in books published by DC Comics. The character was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. He is a mercenary and assassin who first appeared in The New Teen Titans (vol. 1) #2 (1980).

This is the Deathstroke who appears in Batman: Arkham Origins video game, voiced by Mark Rolston. He is among the eight assassins hired to kill Batman by the Joker.

Pre-order Square Enix Batman: Arkham Origins Play Arts Kai Batman 9-inch (23 cm) tall figure

Square Enix is expanding their DC Comics line-up with a ton of new releases. While they are giving us all new designs with the DC Comics Variant figures, they are also releasing figures based on existing designs, including the Arkham series of Batman Video Games. Now they have released these official photos of their upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins Play Arts Kai Batman Figure. Batman will also come with additional hands, a batarang and a grapnel gun.

Square Enix Play Arts Kai figures are big for action figures, at about 9 inches (23 cm) tall compared to the usual smaller size action figures. I've seen them around but was never compelled to get any of the figures, until now. This Square Enix Batman: Arkham Origins Play Arts Kai Batman 9-inch tall figure looks very promising and I've always wanted an armored Batman in my collection. This should do nicely :)
