Check out my kitbash 1/6 scale G.I. Joe Snake Eyes 12" figure (Part 1 of 2 - Poor man's version)

This is my attempt at kitbashing a 1/6 scale Snake Eyes 12-inch action figure from the G.I. Joe team, otherwise known as the poor man's version of Snake Eyes ;p I already had this figure bashed up just before Hot Toys announcement of their upcoming G.I. Joe Retaliation: 1/6th scale Snake Eyes 12-inch Collectible Figure (see the preview pictures HERE). Hot Toys version is based on the upcoming 2013 G.I. Joe film, which is a sequel to 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Snake Eyes is portrayed by Ray Park in the 2009 live-action film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, who will reprise his role in the upcoming 2013 sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

Before Hot Toys announcement of their SNAKE EYES 12-inch figure, Sideshow Collectibles had released two versions of 1/6 scale Snake Eyes based on the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero line. The first version released by Sideshow was way too expensive for my liking and certainly NOT value-for-money IMHO (check out the previews HERE). It caused me to skip the entire 12-inch G.I. Joe line altogether even though I am a big fan. The second version wasn't any better :( - check out the preview pictures HERE. You would have thought that Sideshow had learned their lesson the second time around based on feedback from collectors.

So when I came across a loose 1/6 scale Snake Eyes head sculpt (who else is this supposed to be?), I just had to get it and try my hand at kitbashing my own 12-inch version of Snake Eyes from the G.I. Joe team. Scroll down to see this poor man's version of Snake Eyes :) It's certainly NOT the movie version so I can base it loosely on the comics version which has many interpretations ;p

Snake Eyes is the code name of a member of the G.I. Joe team. Much of his history and information, including his real name, place of birth, as well as almost everything else about him, have remained classified throughout all depictions of his origin. All that is known for certain about his military standing is that he holds the rank of U.S. Army Master Sergeant (E-8), has undergone Drill Sergeant training, and is a former U.S. Army Special Forces Delta Operator. He is also the team's resident hand-to-hand combat instructor.

In every version of his story, Snake Eyes is quiet in his movements and is a swift and deadly master of multiple martial arts. He is an expert in the use of the ninjatō and mastered the ways of the ninja warrior through his affiliation with the Arashikage clan.

This kitbashed Snake Eyes black stealth outfit is mainly from Dr Figures 1/6 scale CIA Field Operator 12-inch Figure (check out my REVIEW here with lots of pictures). Additional parts (shoulder and arm armor plus knee pads) came from the Triad Toys 1:6 scale G4H (Gun 4 Hire) Tyrus Kilemahl: Elite Ballistics Support (EBS) 12-inch action figure. Loads of pictures posted HERE. The Triad Toys figure was very badly produced and the parts of his gear just fell apart in no time :( It's all put to good use here now.

The black chest rig is taken from the VeryHot 1/6 scale Black Action Sniper uniform set for 12-inch Figures (preview pictures HERE). Other parts (such as the very cool looking knife) you see hidden on his back and the sword / ninjato were bought loose from local shops.

As you can see, not many parts to make the whole but I do like the overall look of this kitbashed 1/6 scale Snake Eyes 12-inch figure :) It's nice when everything comes together

Scroll down to see more close-up pictures of this Kitbash 1/6 scale G.I. Joe Snake Eyes 12" figure (not available anywhere else which makes this figure extremely limited haha)

NEXT: Part 2 of my kitbash 1/6 scale G.I. Joe Snake Eyes 12" figure. Snake Eyes is just as adept and willing to use standard weapons like firearms and explosives. This makes him even more dangerous as he rarely relies on one set of weapons to the exclusion of others.

I have an affinity for Snake Eyes and have posted quite a number of entries on this particular Ninja character in my toy blog. Here are some of them:

Great Bash.... It seems to be a combination of two Custom Snake Eyes I did recently. As with you the main reason I did the customs was because BOTH Sideshow releases left alot to be desired. This new HT one however looks Kilker. Would LOVE to share photos. .. How can I again?
