This is the last part of my coverage (and it has been a blast) on the Hot Toys Iron Man CollARTible Exhibition being held at the Singapore Philatelic Museum from 9 October 2010 till 21 November 2010. Nothing beats seeing the figures / art pieces up close and personal (so a call out to all readers and collectors who are in Singapore during this period, Go See NOW!) BUT for those of us who can't, this is the next best thing as I try my best to bring the artworks to you.
"Stark Raving Mad" will focus not on the machine Iron Man but the man inside the Iron suit, Tony Stark played by the brilliantly cast Robert Downey Jr who truly brought Iron Man to life!
“Iron Man Under Acid Rain” by Lalla, Renowned Korean Painter, specializing in Hair Implantation - absolutely STUNNING!!!
Tony Stark has an umbrella because he doesn't want to mess up his hair :)
"G.O.D." by JC Hong, Creative Director of Hot Toys' Production Director and Chief Painter since 2007. Paying tribute to famous movie star Bruce Lee and celebrating his 70th anniversary this year, his design concept is taken from G.O.D. (Game Of Death), one of the most representative works of Bruce.
Funny thing is, I see this and straightaway think "Bruce Lee / Game of Death", and my 16-year old son saw this same picture and uttered, "Kill Bill". Shows you the generation gap LOL
"Copper King" by Kenny Wong, Founder of Kennyswork, who likes painting and sculpture. Representative works include Molly and Copperhead-18. His design idea is to dress up Iron Man to be exhibited together with other artists' projects.
This brings to mind the conversation between Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) and Tony Stark in "Iron Man 2" where Fury is reading from Natascha's SHIELD Report on Iron Man/Tony Stark]
Nick Fury: Mr. Stark displays textbook... narcissism.
Tony Stark: [stares at Nick Fury, who simply stares at him back] ... Agreed.
Narcissism is the personality trait of egotism, vanity, conceit, or simple selfishness. An inordinate fascination with oneself; excessive self-love; vanity.
"SO FUN" by Eric So, Creative Director of PAPAMAMASON, celebrated designer, illustrator and figure artist. His design concept is called "SO FUN", the concept he always applies to his works.
"Unearthed Relics Iron Man" by Ho Lok Ming, Toy Painter of 3A Toys. As the project name states, it is an unearthed artefact which is a great discovery in archaeology in Chinese history. Era and identity unknown.
And that about covers all 21 Artist projects customized by acclaimed designers from the US, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong who were involved in turning these Iron Man collectible figurines into ART pieces solely for display, with their very own individual twist and take on the subject matter.

Emerson (another fellow collector who was also at the preview and also goes by the moniker "BloodyJun") has taken beautiful photos of the exhibits - I mean it: this guy's shots are bloody AWESOME!

Man..the hairdo is pretty cool :)Saw it once in the ARMS FIGURE magazine, they did the same to one of the military figure...rather than plastic hair, now it's real human hair.
Wonder how they customize it.
Had a blast reading your in depth coverage of the exhibition and all the artwork on display, my Guru! Once again, thanks for joining us and glad you had a great time. :)
