Incoming: Soldier Story 1/6 SEAL Team VI - Operation Neptune's Spear 12-inch figure

Osama bin Laden was killed on May 1, 2011. The operation that was carried out is now revealed to be Operation Neptune Spear, and the elite Navy SEAL team responsible for the absolute success was the Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DevGru aka SEAL Team Six). DevGru was ferried into Pakistan by the US Army’s 160th Special Operation Aviation Regiment (SOAR) in a group of helicopters that appear to have included advanced BlackHawk variants and Chinooks.

This post is about the upcoming Soldier Story 1/6 SEAL Team VI - Operation Neptune's Spear 12-inch figure and it's about as near to the real thing as you are going to get. The loadout and gear is awesome (to say the least) and the accuracy and attention to details are mind boggling. This has to be the most modern and up-to-date Special Forces trooper currently operating in the real world, and I'm liking all of it :)

This Soldier Story 1/6 SEAL Team VI - Operation Neptune's Spear 12-inch figure will come with AOR1 FAST Ballistic High Cut HELMET, L4G24 NVG Mount, Modular Personal Lighting System, NSW Helmet Ballast, Helmet HD Camcorder, Monster Dog Sunglasses, C4OPS Radio System: In Ear Headset with Quick DISCONNECT Male Connector + Micro C4OPS Control Box + Dual Wireless PTT with Picatinny Rail Attachment Remote Control Channel and Volume of the Radio + Radio Cable Adapters, PRC-148 Radio, Functional Radio Antenna Extension Cable Set, Concealed Backup Knife, Carabiner, Light sticks x 6, Handcuffs x 2, Hydration tube, Watch, GPS, MS2000 Strobe light, S2 Body, Leg kit, Bare feet short connected x 1 pair

AOR stands for “Area Of Responsibility” – in this case meaning either desert / arid terrain regions (AOR 1), or temperate / tropical forested terrain regions (AOR 2). And the AOR Camouflage pattern is the same digital pixelated pattern used for the NWU, MARPAT, UCP (ACU) and CADPAT camouflage patterns. It is only be used by the US Navy – and Naval Special Warfare personnel in particular. AOR patterns supposedly have the inclusion of the Navy’s Anchor-Constitution - Eagle logo, and they are now part of the Navy Working Uniform system.

Weapons include: MK12 MOD1 Special Purpose Rifle with Scope, Front & rear sight, Silencer, Push-button swivel & MWS Forend rail mount, AN/PEQ-15, AN/PVS-22 Night Vision Scope, M3 15-23CM Tripod, Grip, RAS Raid covers X 5, P-Mag X 3+1, 20-Round Magazine x 2, rifle sling, AOR1 Painted HK 416 Rifle, AOR1 Painted M4 Magazine x 1, 553 Red dot sight, M4 Mag x 3, P226 Pistol, Pistol magazine x 1+1, M67 Grenade x 2, MK141 MOD0 Flashbang x 2

The paint job on the HK416 is in line with pictures taken from a NRA magazine of current SEAL gear and weapons where the helmet, rifle and all other gear were painted in AOR1.

ToysCity only recently released preview prototype pictures of their version of the JSOC T1 Special Mission Unit - Ops Geronimo Hunting Down 12-inch military figure and 1/6 scale dog set (see the pictures HERE).

Love this set, a must have for sure! who's the head sculpt though? and which do you think is better, this or ToysCity's?

hey Richie, HS looks a lot like Bill Goldberg - first man to hold both the WCW and WWE incarnations of the Big Gold Belt and is famous for holding the record for the largest undefeated winning streak in professional wrestling at 173 wins. He retired from wrestling in 2004 (link: http://www.muscleprodigy.com/the-15-most-jacked-wrestling-superstars-of-all-time-arcl-1118.html)

IMHO I think SS is much better than ToysCity but I'll end up getting both. If I were to choose only 1, then this SS version is it ;p CHEERS

Oh I see.haha well i think i'll go with SS too. Also thinking about the crazy dummy set..pretty good combo these 3. :D

Crazy Dummy set is tempting too ;p (http://toyhaven.blogspot.com/2010/11/crazy-dummy-us-navy-seal-team-3-mk46.html) but I really like this SS version. Thinking of ToysCity because of the dog - first Special Forces dog there ever was >_<

Hi Alex,

Can you share some tips on the process of assembling for such military figure? Fix the vest and pouch first? Follow by item?

I realise some velcro couldn't stick. Any solution?

I just got this guy and SOAR pilot as my first 1/6 military. I thought there is some instruction.

Cheers

Hi Dennis

First tip: You have to be patient and not loose your cool otherwise some things might get broken and cannot be glued back ;p I've read stories of people throwing the parts against the wall out of frustration :( not good for the figure and not good for the collector too. It's a bit like modeling craft - you need tweezers and patience (lots of it) to put the figure together.

Tip#2: Imagine the whole process from a 1:1 perspective. You have to put yourself as the figure and dress accordingly. So all the pouches go on the vest first before you put the vest on the figure because with the vest on the figure, it will be much harder to insert all the tabs for the pouches through the loops to secure them.

Tip#3: If velcro don't stick, try using double-sided tape ;p since this is a 12-inch figure and not expected to jump around and bash through jungle like a real trooper, it's okay to attach parts with tape so that it stays in place since double-sided tape stays hidden when pasted together. With double-sided tape, it's easier to fix if it's wrong. Superglue is more permanent and non-removable.

Remember to enjoy the process and then you can see the results :)

Cheers

Hi ToyHaven,

I'm very interested in getting this figurine. It's my first step into collecting soldier figurine and I am always into navy seals. May I know where can I get this in sg?

alex teo said...

Hi Gabriel

You can try China Square Central. Quite a number of shops there stock up on these although I'm not sure if they are still any available as this particular figure has been released for a while already. You can still pop down for a look-see. Another place to look is Level 7 of Plaza Sing. All the best :)

Hi Alex,

Can you advice on the easiest method to slot the glove to the hand? I accidentally torn up a hole in the glove, and still cannot get it done.

Finishing soon. Next up is 160th Nightstalker :)

alex teo said...

Hi Dennis

Try using a credit card and pushing the gloves into the fingers with it, working in between the fingers in the process. The credit card won't tear the cloth (glove) as it isn't sharp but smooth and hard enough to push the glove into the fingers ;p Hope this helps

Maybe you can try patching the hole with double sided tape (if the hole is too big) after you get the gloves in.

Cheers

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the tips! But what about those hands that are already in shaped? (i.e. triggering pose). I might give it another try, else I will just do without it rather than damaging the hands itself.

I enjoy the whole process, except this part. -_-" But I think Soldier Story need to improve the nude body itself. It looks to me like it will break anytime.

Hi Dennis

Usually I only put the gloves on for the bendy hands. The pre-set hands (trigger hands etc) are quite difficult to put gloves on ;p usually I'll just get the painted 0n gloved hands instead.

Glad you are enjoying the equipping process :) that's really part of the FUN of the hobby.
