Thor by Toy Biz

Marvel plans to launch its 2010 film slate with the release of the Iron Man sequel on 30 April 2010, followed by Thor on 4 June 2010. I must admit I find it intriguing that Marvel would make a movie about Thor and I can't wait to see it. The only other Viking related movies I enjoyed watching were "13th Warrior (1999)" starring Antonio Banderas as Ahmad ibn Fadlan and Vladimir Kulich as Buliwyf (Beowulf), "Pathfinder (2007)" and the animated "Beowulf (2007)" with hot mama Angelina Jolie.

Dr Donald Blake becomes Thor, the Thunder God from Norse mythology when he touches his hammer Mjolnir. I think Toy Biz did okay with this "Famous Cover" 9" Thor - quite well captured and true to his comic book appearance.

Me thinks his golden hair is a tad too yellow

Thor's got a nice "flying" helmet though, which is stuck to his head while Namor the Sub-Mariner's wings are stuck to his feet - wonder who gets better mileage?

When I googled "Toy Biz", an interesting bit of news appeared - for purposes of tariffs, Toy Biz's figures are classified as "nonhuman creatures" and not "dolls" because duties on dolls, which are defined to include human figures, were higher than on toys, which include "nonhuman creatures", in the United States. Man, real dolls are already hard to maintain and the fake ones are no different - they cost more to import than superheroes - that's why I stick to superheroes - LOL!!
