Toys City 1:6 Soviet Hero Vasily Preview

Vasily Zaytsev was a Soviet sniper during World War II, notable particularly for his activities between November 10 and December 17, 1942 during the Battle of Stalingrad. He killed 225 soldiers and officers of the Wehrmacht and other Axis armies, including 11 enemy snipers.

In 2001, a feature length film, "Enemy at the Gates", starring Jude Law as Zaytsev, was loosely based on the Battle of Stalingrad, most notably displaying an ongoing rivalry with a Nazi marksman, Major Erwin König (played by Ed Harris in the film). Although Zaytsev really took part in the Battle of Stalingrad, the movie was mostly fiction. While it is likely that a three-day duel between Zaytsev and a talented German sniper did actually take place, since Zaytsev himself indicates this in his own memoirs, there is no evidence that any Major Erwin König ever existed. Having already seen preview pictures (prototype shots) of Toys City's 1:6 scale World War II German Sniper Major König 12-inch military figure HERE and DID's pair of snipers Vasily and König (teaser pictures HERE) based on the 2001 film "Enemy at the Gates", now pictures of Toys City WWII Battle of Stalingrad Soviet sniper Vasily Zaytsev (Jude Law) has surfaced.

Toys City 1:6 Jude Law as Vasily Zaytsev. It seems like Feng is working for Toys City and TTL now as almost every new figure that comes out has a Feng head sculpt on it.

That looks like a rather over-sized Ushanka (Russian fur cap) he's got on

Prior to November 10 of 1942, Vasily Zaytsev had already killed 32 Axis soldiers with the standard-issue Mosin-Nagant rifle (comes with bayonet). Between October 1942 and January 1943, Zaytsev had made 242 verified kills, but the real number may be much higher.

Even comes with the periscope as seen in the movie

Other accessories that Toys City Soviet Hero Vasily will be equipped with

Interestingly, Jude Law looks nothing like the real Vassili Zaitsev but then again, that's Hollywood. The real Vasily looked like he needed the extra insulation against the bitter cold Russian winter. If he were scrawny like Jude Law, he would probably be too busy freezing and shaking to pull the trigger LOL

The telescopic sight from Heinz Thorvald's (aka König's) rifle, allegedly Zaytsev's most treasured trophy, is still exhibited in the Moscow armed forces museum today. In his own autobiography, Notes of a Sniper, Zaytsev himself commented that he had been up against a very skilled German sniper named Herr Koning from Berlin.

Both manufacturers make the same characters. There must be some commercial spies in the sector !
