Incoming: Kaustic Plastik 1/6 Thraex "Celadus" Roman gladiator

This will be the Kaustic Plastik 1/6 scale "Celadus" Thraex 12-inch gladiator figure as seen in Pompeii, Italy, circa 79 A.D. All the figures by Kaustic Plastik are completelly designed in Italy (Kaustic Plastik is based in Rome, home of the gladiators), just the final prodution was made in China. Kaustic Plastik is an italian company and this gives them the opportunity to make a "direct" research on the archelogical places, where the Ancient Roman lived.

The Thraex (pl. thraeces), or Thracian, was a type of Roman gladiator, armed in the Thracian style with small rectangular shield called a parmula (about 60 x 65 cm) and a very short sword with a slightly curved blade called a sica (like a small version of the Dacian falx), intended to maim an opponent's unarmoured back. His other armour included armoured greaves (necessitated by the smallness of the shield), a protector for his sword arm and shoulder, a protective belt above a loin cloth, and a helmet with a side plume, visor and high crest.

He and the hoplomachus (a type of gladiator in ancient Rome, armed to resemble a Greek hoplite which was a soldier with heavy armor and helmet, a round shield, a spear and a sword), were usually pitted against the murmillo (the distinguishing feature of the murmillo was the high crest of his helmet which, together with its broad rim, was shaped somewhat like a fish. The murmillo took his name from this fish-shaped helmet; the word comes from the Greek word for a type of saltwater fish), mimicking the opposition between Roman soldiers and their various enemies.

This Kaustic Plastik 1/6 Thraex "Celadus" Roman gladiator will come with newly developed muscular body "Realistik Body" KP01A, "life-like" head sculpture with "state of art" paint, Thraex Gladiator Helmet based on Pompeii (Italy) original model (Die-cast Metal), Armoured leg protections "Ocrae" based on Pompeii original model (Die-cast Metal), Thraex curved Sword "Sica" (Die-cast Metal blade), Fabric Cushion gaiter and shoulder armor pad, Leather-like Arm guard "manica" and belt, and Thraex Shield "Parmula" (plastic).

Close-up views of the Kaustic Plastik highly detailed 1/6 scale Thraex Gladiator Helmet made of die-cast metal.

ALL the metal parts of Kaustic Plastik gladiator releases (including the metal blades, weapons, pieces of armour and helmet are TOTALLY MADE of METAL! - how's that for authenticity!!) Even better, they are not the classic "white metal" often used in die cast productions but the "right kind" of metal for each piece. So the bronze parts are made in a league of Metal mixed with real bronze to get it as close to the real thing as possible. For this reason, the "look" of the armours as you can see it's totally realistic!!

This is the Kaustic Plastik Thraex "Celadus" Roman gladiator 1/6 head sculpt. The Thraex's head sculpt was inspired by UFC Fighting Champion Randy Couture.

You can order the Kaustic Plastik 1/6 scale Celadus Thraex 12-inch Roman gladiator figure on their website HERE. Their products are also distributed in USA by Cotswold Collectibles and they are very proud of this because Cotswold Collectibles is one of the oldest company totally dedicated to Action Figures!
