Hot Toys Star Wars: The Force Awakens 1/6th First Order TIE Pilot collectible figure review 1

The TIE/LN starfighter, commonly known as the TIE fighter, was the signature starfighter of the Galactic Empire, with a later model being used by the First Order. They were instantly recognizable from the roar of their engines and carried locator beacons enabling them to be found by the Empire.

First Order TIE Fighter Pilots were skilled pilots who served the First Order, hunting down enemy vessels and protecting space around installations and warships in their advanced TIE fighters. The new generation of TIE fighter pilots undergo rigorous training from childhood, and most grow up within the corridors of Star Destroyers, becoming intimately familiar with starship operations. The First Order maintains strict standards of reflexes, visual acuity and hand-eye coordination.

This is the recently released Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS324 Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens 1/6th scale The First Order TIE Pilot Collectible Figure - see the haul posted on my toy blog HERE. "Awright, Awright, Awright!" Preview ACI 1/6th Teutonic Knight - Noble Knight Banner Holder

Scarcely less renowned than the Knights Templars, the Teutonic Knights carried the spirit and traditions of the great military religious orders of the Middle Ages far into the modern period. The Order of Brothers of the German House of Saint Mary in Jerusalem, commonly the Teutonic Order, is a Catholic religious order originally founded as military order in the 12th century in Acre. Purely religious since 1929, it still confers limited honorary knighthoods. The order was formed to aid Christians on their pilgrimages to the Holy Land and to establish hospitals. Its members have commonly been known as the Teutonic Knights, having a small voluntary and mercenary military membership, serving as a crusading military order for protection of Christians in the Holy Land and the Baltics during the Middle Ages.

ACI 1/6th scale Teutonic Knight - Noble Knight Banner Holder Features: Bullhorned great helmet (bullhorn made of plastic), Pair of Knights greaves (Die-cast metal), Chain mail hauberk and Chain mail coif (both made of plastic fabric, not real metal chain), Chain mail chausses (made of plastic fabric, not real metal chain), Teutonic Knight surcoat, Teutonic Knight cloak, Gambeson, Breeches, Spur, Lance with banner (Die-cast Metal Lance tip), Battle axe, Spiked-flail, Great sword (Die-cast metal blade) with scabbard and baldric, Shield with holding straps, Detailed sculpted head (Battle-wouned), Extra fake head, with chain mail coif (made of plastic fabric) fixed on the head, for wearing helmet, Body: Medium built body - Christian, New improved version, over 30 points of articulation, Gloved hand x 2 pairs (Left Pointing, Right: Fist, Left and Right: Grabbing).

Prime 1 Studio "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" 1:2 scale Batman 43" Polystone Statue

Pre-order from Sideshow Collectibles

"Tell me, do you bleed?... You will."

Sideshow and Prime 1 Studio are proud to present Batman from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The latest addition to the HD Museum Master Line, Batman is crafted in 1:2 scale with impressive attention to detail and likeness. Standing around 43 inches tall, this is the ultimate Batman piece for all fans.

Fearing the actions of a god-like superhero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis' most revered, modern-day savior while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. With Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before...

When Ben Affleck was cast as the latest Batman, most people wrote him off, saying "how could the devil play the bat?" referring to Affleck's role as Daredevil years before. Now that the movie is drawing nearer, the negative voices seem to have quieted down a lot, especially after the recent success of Deadpool, where Ryan Reynolds who failed as Green Lantern rises from the ashes to become Wade Wilson and brought down the box office with his stellar performance. Now everybody's waiting to see what Affleck as Batman can do?

Toys Era 1:6 scale The Telepath looks a lot like James McAvoy as Charles Xavier / Professor X

X-Men: Days of Future Past is a 2014 American superhero film based on the fictional X-Men characters that appear in Marvel Comics. Directed by Bryan Singer, it is the seventh installment of the X-Men film series and acts as a sequel to both 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand and 2011's X-Men: First Class. The story, inspired by the 1981 Uncanny X-Men storyline "Days of Future Past" by Chris Claremont and John Byrne, focuses on two time periods, with Wolverine traveling back in time to 1973 to save the future of mankind.

James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart both portray Charles Xavier / Professor X, the world's most powerful mutant telepath. Singer described the younger Xavier as "a very different beast from First Class's feckless playboy. He's a wounded animal, bearded, long-haired, filled with rage at the way the world has treated him."

Toys Era 1:6 scale The Telepath 12-inch figure features: Head sculpt with detailed wrinkles and skin texture, Each piece of head sculpt is specially hand painted; Muscular figure Body with over 30 points of articulation, approximately 32cm tall; Hand assortment, Silk embroidered long sleeve shirt, Slim fit Jacket, Dark blue paints, Leather like belt, Black shoes, Extra-large figure stand

Comparison pictures of Hot Toys 1/6th scale Diecast RoboCop and ThreeZero 2014 RoboCop

continued from previous toy blog post...

“Dead or alive, you’re coming with me.”

What's better than having two different 1:6 scale RoboCops, one from the original 1987 film and the other from the 2014 re-boot? Put them together for pictures of course! Pictured below and for the rest of this toy blog post are the two recently released and most current RoboCop 12-inch figures, the ThreeZero 1/6th scale 2014 RoboCop 1.0 12.5-inch / 32cm tall collectible figure and Hot Toys MMS202-D04 1/6th scale Die-cast RoboCop 30cm tall Collectible Figure. Hot Toys had previously produced and released at least three versions of RocoCop (MMS010 - action figure review posted HERE, MMS026 and MMS032 - pictures HERE) and two versions of ED209 (MMS012 - reviewed HERE and MMS025) but that was a long time ago and standards have improved a lot since then, hence the release of the die-cast RoboCop (pictured below and reviewed HERE, HERE and HERE) plus the battle-damaged RoboCop with Alex Murphy two-figure set (reviewed HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE). Comparison pictures also can be seen HERE and HERE.

2014 RoboCop director José Padilha avoids direct comparisons between his RoboCop and Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 film – attempting to honor the original by forging a significantly different direction for the reboot. Still, longtime fans will without question notice a few knowing nods to the 1987 film. RoboCop starts in the traditional silver / grey suit until OmniCorp CEO Raymond Sellars (Michael Keaton) decides an all-black “tactical” version would make for a better “product.” After the final battle, RoboCop returns to the fan-favorite silver / grey design. And that's why I got the ThreeZero 1/6th scale 2014 RoboCop 1.0 collectible figure as I much prefer the silver and black color scheme.

Preview PHICEN Limited PL2015-86 1/6th Red Sonja Action Figure - She-Devil with a Sword

Red Sonja, the She-Devil with a Sword, is a fictional character, a high fantasy sword and sorcery heroine created by Roy Thomas and Barry Windsor-Smith, and loosely based on Red Sonya of Rogatino in Robert E. Howard's 1934 short story "The Shadow of the Vulture". She first appeared in the Marvel Comics book Conan the Barbarian #23 (February 1973). Red Sonja became the archetypal fantasy figure of a fierce and beautiful female barbarian.

Red Sonja - outlaw, mercenary, warrior and queen. After escaping her bloody origin, she hunted the wilderlands of Hyrkania, theived the streets and palaces of Pah-Disha, sold her sword on battlefields from Koth to Aquilonia, and liberated countless mugs of ale from barrels throughout the Hyborean world. Red Sonja slew the king who tried to posses her and freed the world from the dark sourcery of Kulan Gathe. Forced to flee her homeland, she rode west across the Turanian Steppes and into the shadowed mists of legendry.

Review II: ThreeZero 1/6th scale 2014 RoboCop 1.0 12.5-inch / 32 cm tall collectible figure

continued from previous toy blog post...

This second-part action figure review of ThreeZero 1/6th scale 2014 RoboCop 1.0 12.5-inch / 32 cm tall collectible figure shows off the figure with his weapons, the "TSR 66" stun gun and customized SMG / Sub-Machine Gun (heavily modified and fictional .50 caliber) as seen in the 2014 film. Alternate versions of the guns designed to fit into the left and right built-in thigh holsters are also included and covered in the first-part review posted HERE. Unlike the original 1987 RoboCop on which the film was based (a remake / reboot of the original which has become a cult classic), this updated RoboCop model carries more than one weapon and chose to steer away from the ultra-violent action which was part of the reason RoboCop was rated R: the customized Beretta Pistol (which is the "TSR 66") fires XREP taser cartridges – meaning that, in certain situations, he can take down offenders without killing them.

This reboot RoboCop has both his face and right hand kept intact to make him appear more human than robot. I question the decision to keep his hand because that would become the weak link to his new cyborg body. In the original, scientists managed to salvage Alex Murphy’s arm but OCP Executive Robert "Bob" Morton instructed them to replace it anyway – making Murphy’s face the only organic part that is still visible as RoboCop.

ThreeZero is the company officially licensed to produce and release 1/6th scale movie-related merchandise from the 2014 RoboCop film and I'm glad for that as I cannot imagine what would have happened if the license was given to Medicom Toy. I would certainly not have pre-ordered anything from Medicom as they have shown time and again that their 1/6th scale figures are underscale (undersized) and very expensive (not value-for-money). That said, one does wonder how this figure would have turned out if the license had been given to Hot Toys instead. ThreeZero's RoboCop feels more "plasticky" and toy-like in hand when compared with Hot Toys 1987 RoboCop or any of Hot Toys armored figures. I don't mean to compare it with Hot Toys die-cast figures but just to the regular MMS figures which have been given a metallic paint job. ThreeZero's paintwork, finishing and joints are just a bit off and below par when compared with Hot Toys standard. I'm still glad I got this figure, just pondering the "what ifs".

Action figure review part 1: ThreeZero 1/6th scale 2014 RoboCop 1.0 (12.5-inch) collectible figure

This is from my most recent haul (see my toy blog post HERE)

This action figure review is all about the ThreeZero 1/6th scale 2014 RoboCop 1.0 collectible action figure from the movie of the same name. RoboCop is a 2014 American cyberpunk action film directed by José Padilha and written by Joshua Zetumer. It is a remake of the 1987 film of the same name and reboot of the RoboCop franchise. The film stars Joel Kinnaman in the title role, with Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish and Jackie Earle Haley in supporting roles. I have also reviewed the Square Enix Play Arts Kai 1/7th scale RoboCop 2014 version 1.0 action figure on my toy blog HERE, HERE and HERE. The scale may be slightly smaller in comparison for the Play Arts Kai version but the quality between the two is like East and West and definitely very different. Needless to say, 1/6th scale beats everything else in quality. Basically, one is a toy (Play Arts Kai) and the other is a collectible!

ThreeZero 1/6th scale RoboCop 1.0 details: fully articulated figure; figure stands approximately 12.5 inches (around 32cm) tall; highly detailed mechanical design; helmet features LED light-up visor; realistic paint application highlighting the details; both Stun gun and Machine gun can pop out from left and right built-in holsters; both guns can be manually extended; 3 kinds of interchangeable hands - relaxed hands, fists and gun holding hands; AG1 X 3 button cell batteries are required (batteries not included).

Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman), a police officer injured in a car bomb explosion, is chosen by OmniCorp to be outfitted with a cybernetic body and software, making him the first cyborg cop to be deployed for civilian law enforcement in the United States. The new 2014 RoboCop film (a reboot of the 1987 classic) introduces us first to the stunning RoboCop version 1.0, a look inspired by the original film, while at the same time, making the robot suit more modern and refined.

Square Enix Play Arts Kai DC Comics Variant "Batman: Timeless" 1/7 Bushido Batman figure

Pre-order from Sideshow Collectibles

New photos and information for the upcoming Square Enix Play Arts Kai DC Comics Variant "Batman: Timeless" Bushido Batman action figure have been revealed. This latest Bushido Batman action figure is part of Square Enix Play Arts Variant "Batman: Timeless" series of action figures, depicting how Batman could have looked if he had appeared in different timelines. DC Comics has taken this approach with Batman before in their "Elseworlds" publications. Elseworlds is the publication imprint for a group of comic books produced by DC Comics that take place outside the company's canon. Unlike its Marvel Comics counterpart "What If...?", which bases its stories on a single point of divergence from the regular continuity, most Elseworlds stories instead take place in entirely self-contained continuities whose only connection to the canon DC continuity are the presence of familiar DC characters.

The first Elseworlds title was "Batman: Gotham by Gaslight (1989)", by Brian Augustyn and Mike Mignola, and edited by Mark Waid, which featured a Victorian Age version of the superhero Batman hunting Jack the Ripper, who has come to Gotham City. This title was not originally published as an Elseworlds comic, but the success of this concept lead to the Elseworlds concept and this title was retroactively declared the first Elseworlds.

The Square Enix Play Arts Kai DC Comics Variant "Batman: Timeless" has also included previews of Wild West Batman, Spartan Batman (I am excited about Spartan Batman which I posted on my toy blog HERE) and Steampunk Batman, some of which has already been released. The Square Enix Play Arts Kai DC Comics Variant "Batman: Timeless" Bushido Batman action figure features a massive armor set, a solid red cape and slight battle damaged sculpting throughout. Bushido Batman stand nearly 11 inches tall (at 1/7th scale) and include two swords, sheaths, interchangeable hands, a grappling claw and a figure stand. It is scheduled for release in June 2016 at a price of 19,800 Yen (about $175 USD).

2016 1st Haul: Hot Toys Ant-Man, Kylo Ren, Tie-Fighter Pilot, Snowtrooper & ThreeZero RoboCop

I started posting my hauls on my toy blog as a record for myself of when I got these action figures so that I'll know in a later time how long the figure has been with me. After amassing action figures for so many years (about 22 years for those who are counting), it's good to be able to keep track of when they come from. Believe it or not, this is my first haul of 2016 and it's already past mid-February. Not that I'm complaining since any haul is a good haul :) With toy collecting pretty much confined to pre-orders these days, one can't help but wait till the products arrive. There is no more toy hunting at Sunday Flea Markets for deals and vintage stuff. All the recent hauls are mostly new stuff on the market.

So on the haul list for February 2016 are: Hot Toys Miniature Collectible MMS Compact Series Ant-Man on Flying Ant Collectible Figure, Hot Toys MMS320 "Star Wars: The Force Awakens: 1/6th scale KYLO REN 12-inch collectible figure, Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS324 Star Wars: The Force Awakens 1/6th scale TIE Pilot Collectible Figure, Hot Toys MMS322 Star Wars: The Force Awakens 1/6th scale First Order Snowtrooper Officer 12-inch Collectible Figure, and ThreeZero 1/6th scale 2014 RoboCop (version 1.0) 12.5-inch collectible figure

Hot Toys "Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope" 1:6 scale Han Solo and Chewbacca figures

continued from previous toy blog post...

This is what it's all about :) putting both Hot Toys "Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope" 1:6 scale Han Solo (action figure review posted earlier HERE and HERE) and Chewbacca collectible figures together (see previous posts HERE and HERE). This duo belong together from day one like bread and butter, and their pairing is like Batman and Robin, Sherlock Holmes and Watson, Tom and Jerry, Bert and Ernie, Mulder and Scully; inseparable as Captain / Pilot and co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon. I'm even surprised that Hot Toys would sell them as separate figures but I guess some people might only want to get one and not the other although I myself cannot imagine one without the other. Even though Han's last name is Solo, he has shown that he is anything but a loner as he always has Chewie by his side in all his adventures. Going solo is definitely not his style, unlike Indiana Jones and Rick Deckard (all characters played by Harrison Ford).

In the past, the problem has been too many 1:6 scale Han Solo figures but no Chewbacca to accompany him because no company / manufacturer could produce a decent or realistic furry 1:6 scale Wookiee until now. Come to think of it, Hot Toys has actually fulfilled quite a number of my 1:6 scale "WANTs" and I'm very thankful for that. A 1:6 scale pair of Han and Chewie are one of those. Others include: 1966 Batman and Robin, the Aliens: Colonial Marines, Ellen Ripley and the Power Loader, Alex Murphy and RoboCop, and many more. It only goes to show that if you are patient enough (I've been collecting since 1994), you will see your dreams come true :)

These two certainly look good together. I can't wait to assemble the whole team, now that Luke Skywalker is also in the house (action figure review posted earlier HERE, HERE and HERE). With 1:6 scale C-3PO on the way, alongside R2-D2 (by Sideshow Collectibles, reviewed HERE and HERE), it looks like the collection will be quite complete. Exciting times indeed!

Review II: Hot Toys Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope 1/6th scale Chewbacca Collectible Figure

continued from previous toy blog post...

This is my second action figure review of the recently released Hot Toys MMS262 "Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope" 1/6th scale Chewbacca 36 cm (14 inches) tall Collectible Figure which I got in September 2015 - see my toy haul post HERE

The picture below shows Hot Toys Chewbacca posed with his 1:6 scale bowcaster, also known as a laser crossbow, which was a type of traditional, handcrafted projectile weapon commonly used by Wookiees. Through the use of magnetic acceleration, bowcasters were more powerful and accurate than the average blaster. Although Chewie wears a bandolier bag with removable ammunition, we never know what the ammunition is used for because it doesn't feature anywhere on the bowcaster, nor do we see him use any of the ammo in the films.

The Wookiees were a species of tall, hairy humanoids that were native to the planet Kashyyyk. The most notable member of this species was the warrior Chewbacca, Han Solo's best friend and co-pilot, who played a vital role in the Galactic Civil War by aiding the Rebel Alliance in their fight against the Galactic Empire, as well as the First Order–Resistance conflict where he fought against the First Order. They were quite strong, and were known to rip people's arms out of their sockets when provoked. Though being from a temperate planet better known for its swamps and forests, their coat of hair allowed them to be comfortable on icy worlds such as Ilum and Hoth.

Kingsman: The Secret Service is a 2014 British spy film directed by Matthew Vaughn, and based on the comic book The Secret Service, created by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar. Hot Toys Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope 1/6th scale Chewbacca Collectible Figure Review

continued from previous toy blog post...

Happy Chinese New Year :) According to the Chinese Zodiac, this is the year of the Monkey. So what better topic / action figure reviews to cover than the next subject itself.

One cannot talk about Han Solo without mentioning Chewbacca (or "Chewie", as he was known by his friends). Chewbacca is a legendary Wookiee warrior and Han Solo’s co-pilot aboard the Millennium Falcon. A Wookiees are tall, hirsute biped and intelligent species from the planet Kashyyyk. Chewbacca, a 200-year-old Wookiee, becomes Han Solo's companion after Han, an Imperial officer at the time, refused an order to kill him, for which Han was dismissed from the Imperial Navy and became a smuggler. To repay this debt, Chewbacca protected Han for the rest of his life, and served as his co-pilot on the Millennium Falcon. Chewbacca was part of a core group of Rebels who restored freedom to the galaxy.

Standing at 8 feet tall, Chewbacca is a fearsome sight. His weapon of choice is the Wookiee bowcaster (a crossbow-shaped directed-energy weapon). Chewbacca's creation as a "gentle, hairy, non-English-speaking co-pilot" was inspired by George Lucas seeing his own dog sitting up on the passenger seat of his car. It is said that Chewbacca's name is derived from собака (sobaka), the Russian word for dog. In all five screen appearances, Chewbacca was played by Peter Mayhew, who was chosen for his height of 7'3" (2.2 m).

Like I mentioned in my earlier action figure review post HERE, many 1:6 scale Han Solo figures have been produced and released but not so for Chewbacca. Only Hasbro has released 1:6 scale Chewbacca figures (check out my post HERE) and even then, they were meant as toy action figures and not collectibles. This is Hot Toys attempt at a 1:6 scale Chewbacca collectible figure and I seriously doubt any other company will be proceeding down the same route. Figures like these require new tooling to get a taller body, new head (most regular 12-inch figures only need a change of head sculpts and costumes / outfits, a much cheaper option than tooling and molds) and all that fur to stick and not fall off yet adhere nicely to the figure and look natural without Chewie coming off looking like a teddy bear which was what one of Hasbro's earlier version of 1:6 scale Chewbacca looked like LOL

This is Hot Toys MMS262 "Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope" 1/6th scale Chewbacca Collectible Figure which specially features: Authentic and detailed likeness of Chewbacca as seen in Star Wars with Brown fabric hair throughout whole body, movie-accurate facial expression, approximately 36 cm tall newly developed body with over 30 points of articulations, two pairs of interchangeable palms including: one pair of relaxed palms and one pair of palms for holding bowcaster.

Mattel Barbie "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" Wonder Woman, Batman & Superman

continued from previous toy blog post...

Everybody's getting in on the action!

These are Mattel Barbie "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" 1:6 scale Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman dolls that have been revealed and I can clearly see the difference in terms between "dolls" and "action figures". Dolls are traditionally seen as a girl's toy, although they are also collected by adults (usually of the fairer sex and then some). Barbie is a fashion doll manufactured by the American toy-company Mattel, Inc. and launched in March 1959.

Definition of Action Figure from Wikipedia - Ac•tion Fig•ure: An action figure is a pose-able character figurine, made of plastic or other materials, and often based upon characters from a movie, comic book, video game, or television program. These action figures are usually marketed towards boys and male collectors. The term "action figure" was first coined by Hasbro in 1964, to market their G.I. Joe figure to boys who wouldn't play with dolls.

Let me state again here that "I collect Action Figures!" So don't call them dolls because it's a rather sensitive topic LOL You can check out my earlier toy blog post HERE where I posted quite a number of pictures of my action figure collection (and some dolls haha) :p

It's most interesting that most action figure companies choose to only show pictures of their Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne / Batman and Henry Cavill as Clark Kent / Superman figures from "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" whereas a doll manufacturer / company shows off all three figures, starting with Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. So far this is the only 1:6 scale Wonder Woman figure from the upcoming film that we've seen.

Action Figure Review II: Hot Toys "Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope" 1/6th scale Han Solo

continued from previous toy blog post...

Here's Hot Toys MMS261 "Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope" 1/6th scale Han Solo 12-inch Collectible Figure (from my October 2015 haul, posted on my toy blog HERE) in one of his signature pose with pistol drawn and shooting at the bad guys. Funny thing is, he was a bad guy himself (smuggler, scoundrel and all) until he decided to join the Rebellion in their fight against the Galactic Empire. The fact that Han shot first (clearly it was a case of self-defence because Greedo would have shot him if not for his quick reaction) and killed Greedo the bounty hunter at the Mos Eisley cantina on Tattooine only goes to cement his character.

So many 1:6 scale Han Solo figures have been released so far but this Hot Toys Han Solo has to be the best one by far. Everything looks good on the figure, from his outfit consisting of off-white V-neck top, black vest, brown belt, brown leather blaster holster belt (quick-draw holster), navy pants with red pattern (Corellian blood stripe), and black leather boots to his weapon of choice, the DL-44 heavy blaster pistol and the detachable droid caller located on his belt. A droid caller was a small handheld device that worked in conjunction with a droid's restraining bolt. Its signal compelled a droid to stop whatever it was doing and report to its master. I have a question: why does Han need a droid caller? He doesn't own any droids and we never see him calling any droid in all the films. Luke Skywalker has one and that's because he has two droids (R2-D2 and C-3P0) his uncle Owen bought from scavengers before he got killed for it.

Harrison Ford's previous work in American Graffiti eventually landed him his first starring film role, when he was hired by Lucas to read lines for actors auditioning for parts in his then-upcoming film Star Wars (1977). Lucas was eventually won over by Ford's performance during these line reads and cast him as Han Solo. Star Wars became one of the most successful movies of all time worldwide and established Ford as a superstar. He went on to star in the similarly successful Star Wars sequels, The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983), as well as the Star Wars Holiday Special (1978).

Han Solo was deemed the 4th greatest movie character of all-time by Empire magazine. Entertainment Weekly ranked the character 7th on their list of The All-Time Coolest Heroes in Pop Culture. On their list of the 100 Greatest Fictional Characters, Fandomania.com ranked Solo at number 15. IGN listed Han Solo as the second greatest Star Wars character of all time (behind Darth Vader), as well as listing him as one of the top 10 characters who most needed a spin-off, saying he was "Arguably the coolest character in the Star Wars universe".

Hot Toys Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope 1/6 Han Solo 12-inch Collectible Figure Review 1

Smuggler. Scoundrel. Hero.

Han Solo is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, portrayed in films by Harrison Ford. In the original film trilogy, Han Solo, captain of the Millennium Falcon, was one of the great leaders of the Rebel Alliance. He and his co-pilot Chewbacca came to believe in the cause of galactic freedom, joining Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa in the fight against the Galactic Empire. Star Wars creator George Lucas described the character as "a loner (hence the name "Solo") who realizes the importance of being part of a group and helping for the common good".

Han Solo is introduced in Star Wars (1977), when he and his copilot Chewbacca accept a charter request to transport Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, C-3PO and R2-D2 to Alderaan on their ship, the Millennium Falcon. When the bounty hunter Greedo tries to deliver him to Jabba, Han shoots him (Yes! I believe Han shot first) and leaves Tattooine for Alderaan.

I believe Han Solo is one of those characters almost everybody knows. At least the people I know all know who Han Solo is. Otherwise they wouldn't be 'my people' LOL but seriously, anyone who knows Star Wars has to know who Han Solo is and it's been a long time since we had a decent 1:6 scale Han Solo figure. Sideshow tried (check out my toy blog post HERE), Medicom Toy tried ((see my action figure review HERE and HERE) but I think we finally have a definitive Han Solo 12-inch figure. Who better to produce an excellent Han Solo than Hot Toys, right? I think this is the best it's going to get.

This is the recently released Hot Toys MMS261 "Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope" 1/6th scale Han Solo 12-inch Collectible Figure (from my October 2015 haul, posted on my toy blog HERE) which specially features: authentic and detailed likeness of Harrison Ford as Han Solo as seen in the original 1977 Star Wars film with movie-accurate facial expression including detailed wrinkles and skin texture. Let's get on with the action figure review :)
