Sideshow Collectibles 1/6th scale Obi-Wan Kenobi Mythos 12" collectible figure sneak peek

What was Obi-Wan Kenobi’s life like after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith? Sideshow’s latest announcement dives into that question in our brand new Star Wars™ Mythos Obi-Wan Kenobi Sixth Scale Figure!

After the prequel trilogy we know Obi-Wan to have led a hermit’s life on Tatooine. During this period our assumption is that his time wasn’t entirely spent living in a lonely hut, but instead as a desert nomad, exercising mental strength and physical fortitude.

Sideshow Collectibles gives us a sneak peek at their upcoming 1/6th scale Obi-Wan Kenobi Mythos 12-inch collectible figure based on Obi-Wan Kenobi’s life as a nomad, wandering the desert landscape of Tatooine. Ben carries a unique collection of mementos, the weight of the memories they contain as heavy as the pack itself. The adornments and survival gear on Kenobi’s backpack almost serve as a time capsule to speak the story of his travels; among his collection are Tusken Raider gaffi sticks that suggest maybe he has had an ongoing feud with the desert tribes, a mantle of armor that he wore during the Clone Wars, and of course, Anakin’s lightsaber.

Sideshow Collectibles Gotham City Nightmare Collection 20-inch Tall Batman (Man-bat?) Statue

Pre-order

He is the night, and the nightmare.

Sideshow is thrilled to present the Batman Statue, the chilling first installment in the Gotham City Nightmare collection.

Gotham City Nightmare dares to ask, what would the familiar faces of Gotham become when viewed through eyes filled with fear? The Batman Statue gives you a glimpse of the Dark Knight like never before.

No longer a crusader in just a cape and cowl, Batman has taken on a more sinister style as a bat creature, poised on top of a warped Gotham gargoyle, his wings spread wide. Disgusting creatures like bats, rats, and centipedes crawl at Batman’s clawed feet, emerging from the stonework on which he stands.

Batman’s body is carefully sculpted with sinewy flesh capturing the monstrous melding of his suit design to the creature’s skin, painted with deep blues and greys to give him his chilling appearance. A subtle bat symbol covers his chest, integrating into his anatomy and further deepening the nightmare.

Hot Toys 1/6th scale Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman 12-inch collectible figures

continued from previous toy blog post...

The "Trinity" is a nickname collectively given to the top three most popular characters in the DC Universe, Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. This name has also been used for several series' and storylines that focus on these three characters teaming up.

In the 2016 superhero film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", we see the first ever live-action interaction between Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) together. It is also the first live-action cinematic portrayal of Wonder Woman, Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher).

I got both the Hot Toys MMS343 Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 1:6 scale SUPERMAN and Hot Toys MMS342 Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 1:6 scale BATMAN Collectible Figures back in November 2016 (see my toy blog post HERE) but it has taken this long for Hot Toys MMS359 Wonder Woman figure to be released. Now I can finally pose the three of them together for pictures. One of the funny moments from the film was when Wonder Woman appears after Doomsday confronts Superman and Batman. Superman says to Batman: "Is she with you?" and
Batman replies: "I thought she was with you."

Custom 1/6th scale Bat Girl Outfit Set

Batgirl operates in Gotham City, allying herself with Batman and the original Robin, Dick Grayson, along with other masked vigilantes. Although the character Betty Kane was introduced into publication in 1961 by Bill Finger and Sheldon Moldoff as Bat-Girl, she was replaced by Barbara Gordon in 1967, who later came to be identified as the iconic Batgirl. The character debuted in Detective Comics #359, titled "The Million Dollar Debut of Batgirl!" (January 1967) by writer Gardner Fox and artist Carmine Infantino, introduced as the daughter of police commissioner James Gordon.

This Bat Girl Outfit Set comes complete with bodysuit, gloves, boots and some weapons. It's reminiscent of old-school Batgirl from the TV show a la Yvonne Craig but all in black and not purple for a slightly more serious look. The Custom 1/6th scale Bat Girl Outfit Set Features: PVC helmet, Gold badge, Bodysuit, Forearm bracers, Cloak, Hollow boots, Belt, Gloved hands. Batarang, Gun. Supermad Toys 1/6th scale Cat 2.0 (Battle Damaged Version) 12-inch Collectible Figure

Selina Kyle is Catwoman, a costumed adventurer who's been both a super-hero and super-villain. Beginning her career as a thief and enemy to Batman, she later turned to crime-fighting and became part of the Batman Family.

A popular figure, Catwoman has been featured in many media adaptations related to Batman. Actresses Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether, and Eartha Kitt introduced her to a large audience on the 1960s Batman television series and the 1966 Batman film. Michelle Pfeiffer portrayed the character in 1992's Batman Returns. Halle Berry starred in a stand-alone Catwoman film, 2004's Catwoman, which was a critical and commercial flop, and bears little to no similarities to the Batman character. Anne Hathaway portrayed Selina Kyle in the 2012 film The Dark Knight Rises and, most recently, a young version of Kyle is played by Camren Bicondova on the 2014 television series Gotham.

This is a new version of the CAT from supermad toys: battle damaged version comes with a wired bullwhip for different poses. Electroshock gun can be attached to the boot via hidden magnets. Limited worldwide release of 200 sets. This is most likely inspired by Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman in 1992's Batman Returns.

Iron Studios 1/4 scale Wolverine 18-inch (46 cm) tall Statue - Wolverine goes berserker rage!

Pre-order

Wolverine was created by Len Wein, John Romita and Herb Trimpe in 1974 and his first appearance in comics was as a supporting rival of the Incredible Hulk.

Born mutant, his powers include sharp senses, retracting claws and great regenerative ability (called a healing factor). His regenerative power slows down his aging, so his age is indeterminate. His baptismal name is James Howlett, but he took the name of his supposed biological father, Logan. He served in the American Civil War, World War II, was a secret agent for the CIA and the Canadian Secret Service, and was a guild of the Canadian government in an experiment (the Weapon X Program) in which his skeleton and claws were coated by indestructible Adamantium).

With no memory of much of his past, he adopted the codename Wolverine and became one of the most important members of the X-Men group. He also served as a member of groups such as Tropa Alpha, X-Force and New Avengers.

Sideshow and Iron Studios are proud to present the Wolverine Legacy Replica. This quarter scale statue is produced based on the conceptual art of Marcio Takara, from Chiaroscuro Studios and Marvel Comics.

Review II: Hot Toys Dawn of Justice 1/6th scale Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman Collectible Figure

continued from previous toy blog post...

Here are more pictures of Hot Toys MMS359 Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 1/6th scale Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman Collectible Figure with lots of close-ups to zoom in on the nice details that Hot Toys has so painstakingly put in to make this 12-inch figure look good. For me, there isn't a better looking Wonder Woman figure so far than this one by Hot Toys. The smaller sized action figures by other manufacturers such as Square Enix, Mezco, Medicom MAFEX etc just look like toys compared to this Hot Toys 1/6th scale Wonder Woman. By combining and using various materials to produce this figure, Hot Toys has created yet another movie masterpiece of museum quality.

Even though I say this is the better Wonder Woman so far, I wouldn't say it's the best. I have some issues with it. One of them is the painting of the teeth, making Gal Gadot look like Bugs Bunny with her buck teeth. And although Hot Toys took time to develop their own 1/6th scale female seamless body, its range of movement is rather limited, thus preventing collectors from putting Wonder Woman in more awesome poses. It also seems like Hot Toys female body has a rather long neck, making Wonder Woman look like Giraffe Gadot at certain angles. Phicen Limited (now called TBLeague) has already developed and released lots of seamless female bodies which are extremely flexible and can be posed in so many different ways. If only Hot Toys had used their bodies instead, then this figure would have been phenomenal.

CooModel Series of Empires 1/6th scale William Adams AKA Miura Anjin 12" Collectible Figure

William Adams (24 September 1564 – 16 May 1620), known in Japanese as Miura Anjin (三浦按針: "the pilot of Miura") was an English navigator who, in 1600, was the first of his nation to reach Japan during a five-ship expedition for the Dutch East India Company. Of the few survivors of the only ship that reached Japan, Adams and his second mate Jan Joosten were not allowed to leave the country while Jacob Quaeckernaeck and Melchior van Santvoort were to bring messages back to the Netherlands inviting them to trade. Adams and Joosten settled there and became two of the first ever (and two of the very few) Western samurai. He is now famous as the prototype of the hero of James Clavell's quasi-historical novel Shogun.

Pulp Fiction is a 1994 American black comedy neo-noir crime film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, from a story by Tarantino and Roger Avary. John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson play Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield, mob contract killers (hitmen) with a penchant for philosophical discussions.

Tarantino had written the part of Jules Winnfield with Samuel L. Jackson in mind, but the actor nearly lost it after his first audition was overshadowed by Paul Calderón. Jackson assumed the audition was merely a reading. Harvey Weinstein convinced Jackson to audition a second time, and his performance of the final diner scene won over Tarantino. Jules was originally scripted with a giant afro, but Tarantino and Jackson agreed on the Jheri-curled wig seen in the film. Jackson received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Redman Toys RM022 1/6th scale Vincent 12-inch Collectible Figure aka Pulp Fiction Vincent Vega

Pulp Fiction is a 1994 American black comedy neo-noir crime film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, from a story by Tarantino and Roger Avary. Tarantino cast John Travolta in Pulp Fiction because Michael Madsen, who had played Vic Vega in Reservoir Dogs, chose to appear in Kevin Costner's Wyatt Earp instead. Travolta accepted a bargain rate for his services — sources claim either USD$100,000 or USD$140,000 — but the film's success and his Academy Award nomination for Best Actor revitalized his career.

John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson play Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield, mob contract killers (hitmen) with a penchant for philosophical discussions. Pulp Fiction won the Palme d'Or at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival, and was a major critical and commercial success upon its U.S. release. It was nominated for seven Oscars, including Best Picture; Tarantino and Avary won for Best Original Screenplay. John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, and Uma Thurman, each received Academy Award nominations for their roles and revitalized and/or elevated their careers.

Preview S.H. Figuarts Star Wars: The Last Jedi action figures: Rey, Kylo, Praetorian Guards

One of the great things about action figures is that sometimes they offer us a glimpse into the future. Case in point: S.H. Figuarts has released official pictures of their upcoming Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi action figures and from them, you kind of know what to expect to see in the upcoming film. The line of action figures include: Rey in her new costume (to reflect a darker, more edgy feel?); a more streamlined Kylo Ren without the hood but he now has a scar on his face courtesy of Rey, a souvenir from the last film; the regular First Order Stormtroopers (what's a Star Wars film without Stormtroopers?); an intro to a new addition to the Stormtroopers - First Order Executioner (after the overwhelming response to the Riot Control Stormtrooper, the producers have to try and come up with another variation); Captain Phasma comes back with a vengeance; and a whole new group of players being introduced: the Elite Praetorian Guards - there are three different versions differentiated by their helmets and weapons they carry such as Whip Staff, Heavy Blade and Double Blades

Rey still has the gun Han Solo gave her in The Force Awakens. It seems BB-8 has grown quite attached to her, even though he's supposed to belong to Poe Dameron, ace pilot and commander in the Resistance's Starfighter Corps.

Hot Toys Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 1/6th Wonder Woman Collectible Figure Review

It's finally here!

This is my most recent haul in a long while and it's Hot Toys MMS359 Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 1:6th scale Wonder Woman Collectible Figure. The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film came out in 2016 and I already got both Hot Toys Batman and Superman 12-inch figures in November 2016 (see my toy blog post HERE) but it has taken quite a while for this 1/6th scale Gal Gadot Wonder Woman to surface. I expected this Hot Toys Wonder Woman to come out in May or June this year when the Wonder Woman film began screening on the big screen as the hype would be good for Hot Toys but that didn't happen. Well, better late than never, right?

This Hot Toys MMS359 Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 1:6th scale Wonder Woman movie-accurate collectible is specially crafted based on the image of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in the film featuring a newly developed head sculpt with long curly dark brown fabric hair. My first reaction was: why did Hot Toys give her buck teeth? Yes, she comes with teeth that shows through her slightly open mouth. The prototype / preview pictures of this figure didn't have teeth (check out the preview pics HERE) but this final produced figure has. Maybe Hot Toys feel that the teeth makes the figure look more like the actress but I'm not sure if that's good as she looks a little bit like Bugs Bunny.
