MC Toys 1/6 scale The End Walker 12" figure – Denzel Washington in "The Book of Eli" Review II

continued from previous post... (764 page views in less than a day...)

"Stay on the path. It's not your concern. Stay on the path. It's not your concern."

"The Book of Eli" (released in 2010) is post-apocalyptic tale, in which a lone man (Denzel Washington as Eli) has been wandering westward across North America carrying with him a sacred book that he has sworn to protect and deliver to its destination. Searching for a source of water, he arrives in a ramshackle town built and overseen by Carnegie (Gary Oldman). Carnegie dreams of building more towns and controlling the people by using the power of a certain book, the same book that is in Eli's possession.

MC Toys 1/6 scale The End Walker 12-inch action figure (ITEM #F-034) is inspired by / based on the character Denzel Washington plays in "The Book of Eli". It comes with a 1/6 scale Head Sculpt, 12-inch figure Body, Green Coat, Khaki Pants, Khaki Long Sleeve T-Shirt, White Short Sleeve t-shirt, Inmate Iridium Sunglasses, Remington 870 "Witness Protection" shotgun, .45 Pistol, Oakley Panel Pack backpack, Scarf, Gloves, Leather Boots, Beanie, MP3 with ear headphone, Machete, Leather Machete Sheath. To see the details of the contents, check out my previous post HERE. Scroll down to see the pictures of the (almost) complete 1/6 scale Eli figure.

For close quarters combat, Eli is armed with the Khukri,or Kukri, a Nepalese melee weapon, similar to what Alice uses in the Resident Evil films.

The complex fight scenes were choreographed by Jeff Imada and feature the Filipino martial art of Kali. Denzel Washington trained for months with Dan Inosanto and Jeff Imada for the role.

Close-up pictures of the MC Toys The End Walker 1/6 scale head sculpt with beanie and sunglasses. Does it resemble Denzel Washington in the 2010 post-apocalyptic film "The Book of Eli"?

The one thing missing from this MC Toys 1/6 scale The End Walker 12-inch figure set is the "book". That's what the movie is all about. For Eli, it's getting the book to its destination safely. For Carnegie, it's finding the book and tapping its power. I decided to add my own "book" to complete the figure ;p It's not the same but I think it's close enough.

Carnegie: I need that book, I want that book, I want you to stay but if you make me have to choose I'll kill you and take that book
Eli: Why, why do you want it?
Carnegie: I grew up with that book, I know its power.

Hi again, in reference to the glove application I actually performed a similar technique but I got frustrated and cut the end off one. Whatever, still looks good.

I got this figure a few weeks ago. Likeness is off (a definite cross between Lawrence Fishburne and Will Smith..LOL), but put those glasses on and he is instantly recognizable as the Eli character from the film! The outfit and accessories all look great. Such a pity they did not include the bible or at least some form of a 1/6 scale book to represent it. I also did the cut on his jacket so the strap of the machete sheath can go through it, just like how he wore it in the movie. My only gripe though is that they got the backpack colour wrong. It should be grey and not khaki coloured. In the movie, its clearly grey and I actually have that same Panel Pack backpack from Oakley. Its actually a great backpack by the way. Magic Cube has nicely replicated it to 1/6 scale, minus the Oakley logo of course. But it should've been grey in colour as per the movie. Other than that, once displayed with his complete gear, it looks really great! Here are my photos of the figure >>> http://www.flickr.com/photos/imranbecks/sets/72157641725110235/
