Dam Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 Diamond 3 12-inch figure (Danny Trejo Machete?) Review II

continued from previous post...

In my first part review of this recently released DAM TOYS (GK006) 1/6 scale Gangsters Kingdom - Diamond 3 "Juarez" 12-inch action figure, I covered the packaging and its contents including a well illustrated comic book done in the style of Mike Mignola and Frank Miller's Sin City. Now let's see how it all comes together.

DAM TOYS 1/6 scale Gangsters Kingdom - Diamond 3 "Juarez" 12-inch action figure comes with 1/6 scale Head sculpt (with stylized Danny Trejo as Machete likeness), 12-inch Action body, long brown coat, Long sleeve black v-neck t-shirt, Black leather pants, Black motorcycle vest, specially designed leather-like knife carrier, lots of knives (including two Kukri knives which are stored in specially designed scabbards), black belt with buckle, High barrel cowboy boots, left hand wrist bands, right hand wrist support, Palm / hands x 3, necklace

It's amazing how Dam Toys is able to capture Danny Trejo's portrait in a stylized head sculpt. What's interesting is that the Diamond 3 "Juarez" 12-inch figure not only resembles the actor but also the character he plays in the films "Machete (2010)" and "Machete Kills (2013)".

Here's DAM TOYS 1/6 scale Gangsters Kingdom - Diamond 3 "Juarez" 12-inch action figure dressed to the nines (I wanted to say "knives" but that's not correct English LOL). I chose to leave out the Black motorcycle vest with red flames and very nice full back custom embroidery design as it will be obscured by the knife holder. Check out the pictures in my previous post HERE. I'm showing all the knives and knife holder now in turnaround views as they too will be covered by his brown coat which is also included with this set.

As for "Machete" the film, director Robert Rodriguez says that the lead role had always been intended for Danny Trejo. The two had met during the filming of Rodriguez's film, "Desperado". "Nobody really knew about Desperado, yet the local townspeople would flock to see Danny, thinking he was the star of the movie, even though his part was very small", Rodriguez remembers. "He has incredible presence, and I knew I had found Machete.

Rodriguez says, "When I met Danny, I said, 'This guy should be like the Mexican Jean-Claude Van Damme or Charles Bronson, putting out a movie every year and his name should be Machete'. I had heard sometimes FBI or DEA have a really tough job that they don't want to get their own agents killed on, they'll hire an agent from Mexico to come do the job for $25,000. I thought, 'That's Machete. He would come and do a really dangerous job for a lot of money to him but for everyone else over here it's peanuts'."

Of course the backstory for Dam Toys Diamond 3 "Juarez" is very different. You can read about it HERE in my first-part review.

This figure certainly has lots of nice details, from the sculpt to the necklace, the knife holder, belt buckle and kukri scabbards. So many things to appreciate about Diamond 3.

Awesome fig. Would love to see a variant that looks like trejo from desperado

I don't mind another variant as long as it isn't some toy show exclusive!

Just paid the preorder for mine! I should have it now in a few scant weeks.

I got mine a few weeks ago and finally opened tonight. Such a sweet figure!

I did not score the limited edition version though with the gold belt buckle, special decorative knives, and blood splatter, but no matter.

The comic book was shockingly grisly - did you guys read it? Juarez here murders some of the other Spade Gang members which bothered me. Still fantastic that DAM Toys included the comic, it is such a cool extra.

Who is Spade K going to be? In sticking with the Brit theme, I'm guessing it's Mark Strong, Benedict Cumberbatch or Daniel Craig.

Yup, I found the comic rather gruesome too. And to have Diamond 3 kill off two of the prominent figures right off the bat in the first comic published is kind of anti-climatic. What else can we expect? Everybody dies in the second issue?! Who's gonna be left standing? Looking forward to more figures though ;p
