Hot Toys "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" 1/6 scale Luke Skywalker Action Figure Review II

continued from previous toy blog post...

A moisture farmer was an individual who operated a moisture farm, using vaporators to harvest excess humidity in the atmosphere. On sun-scorched worlds like Tatooine, most settlers of the desert were moisture farmers. Luke Skywalker spent his youth on the Lars' moisture farm, where his uncle unsuccessfully tried to discourage his adventurous tendencies, telling him that his father had been "a navigator on a spice freighter" during the Clone Wars.

Having already reviewed Hot Toys MMS297 Luke Skywalker earlier with his LED-lighted lightsaber as well as the box and its contents (see my post HERE), I thought I'll show Luke in his Tatooine desert gear and accessories which were included with the boxed set.

We don't see much of Luke in this getup in the film. Apparently sandstorms scour the surface of Tatooine for days at a time and Luke wears a desert poncho and hat with goggles for protection during windy days. His macrobinoculars allows him to scan further than his eyes can possibly see. He holds his 6-2Aug2 hunting rifle in his right hand. His uncle started teaching him to use it when he was only seven years old, the same age Owen started. Luke often used womp rats as target practice; by the time he was seventeen, he could shoot them from the driver's seat of his landspeeder without stopping to aim.

The 1:6 scale desert poncho has wires along the edges which allows you to manipulate and pose the poncho better than if it were just made entirely of cloth. I like how it can fold as you press the edges and it gives a nice natural flowing look. The hat fits snugly on Luke's head but you have to switch his hair piece / the interchangeable hair sculpture for wearing the floppy hat.

Check out the close-up pictures of Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS297 "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" 1/6th scale Luke Skywalker head sculpt with floppy hat and goggles. Does the head sculpt resemble the actor Mark Hamill who plays Luke? That's a question that is up for debate.

Scroll down to see close-up pictures of Luke's macrobinoculars. The macrobinoculars have a closed and open mode for the eyepiece which is interchangeable. The first three pictures below show the open mode and the fourth picture shows the eyepiece in closed mode when not in use.

Here's a picture of Hot Toys 1/6th scale Luke Skywalker head sculpt with alternate hair sculpture. This hair piece allows Luke to wear his floppy hat and training helmet.

And this is Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS297 "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" 1/6th scale Luke Skywalker 12-inch collectible figure dressed in an attire we are more familiar with: off-white colored tunic, brown-colored belt with pouches, a pair of light beige-colored pants and a pair of light grey colored boots (with sandproof leg bindings). He has a droid caller and his father's lightsaber (given to him by Ob-Wan Kenobi) attached to his belt.
