Imagine my pleasant surprise today when I found out that Danny Choo is now a follower of my blog. What an honour! For those who don't know who Danny Choo is, he is a super blogger with over 2 million unique users per month visiting his site (link here) which is a popular blog devoted to Japanese popular culture, focusing on anime, anime and manga-based figurines, photographs and videos of Japanese "idols", Gundam, Otaku, and related events and conventions. The blog features content in both English and Japanese.
He is the founder of Mirai Inc., and also best known for his exploits as a Star Wars Imperial stormtrooper exploring and dancing in the streets of Tokyo. As of March 2008, Dannychoo.com is ranked among the top 10,000 most visited websites in the world. He even has a profile on Wookiepedia, the Star Wars Wiki (link here) - he's the man!
When he visited Singapore on November 19, 2008 for a blogging workshop last year (see Ken's post here and Shaun's post here) there was absolutely no airs from the man and you could go up to him and he could just as easily become your best pal. He certainly deserves all the attention and moolah that he's getting - kudos to him.
The wife got especially excited when she found out that he's also the son of famous shoe designer Jimmy Choo but you can see that Danny has made a name for himself without his father's help.
