The Expendables is a 2010 American ensemble action film written by David Callaham and Sylvester Stallone, and directed by Stallone. The film is about a group of elite mercenaries tasked with a mission to overthrow a Latin American dictator whom they soon discover to be a mere puppet controlled by a ruthless ex-CIA officer. It pays tribute to the blockbuster action films of the 1980s and early 1990s, and stars an array of action veterans from those decades, including Stallone, Eric Roberts, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Gary Daniels, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger (Schwarzenegger in a cameo role), as well as more recent stars such as Randy Couture, Jason Statham, Terry Crews, and Steve Austin. The film did well enough for a sequel which did even better than the first.
One of the members of the Expendables is Dolph Lundgren who plays Gunner Jensen. Dolph Lundgren is a Swedish actor, director, and martial artist. He belongs to a generation of film actors who epitomise the action hero stereotype, alongside Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Steven Seagal, and Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Lundgren's breakthrough came when he starred in Rocky IV in 1985 as the imposing Russian boxer Ivan Drago. Since then, he has starred in more than 40 movies, almost all of them in the action genre. He was Frank Castle in the 1989 film The Punisher, making him the first of three Punishers to play on the big screen, the other two being Ray Stevenson (check out the awesome 1/6 scale version HERE) and Thomas Jane (1/6 scale version HERE)
It looks like Art Figures might finish what Hot Toys started. Hot Toys has released just one Expendables figure so far and that is the 1/6 scale Movie Masterpiece Series MMS138 Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) figure (see the preview pictures HERE). They recently announced that they will be releasing a second Barney Ross figure (see pictures HERE) - MMS194 Expendables 2 Barney Ross 1/6th scale Collectible Figure but no other figures in the series have been mentioned. Art Figures has already released their AF-010 1/6 scale Soldiers of Fortune 12-inch action figure "Lee Christmas" (pictures HERE) and now they are following that up with Gunner :) Looks like between Art Figures and DAM Toys, I've got all the figures I want!
With the Art Figures 1/6 scale Dolph Lundgren head sculpt, one might even be tempted to kitbash their very own Dolph Lundgren as Frank Castle / The Punisher 12-inch figure
Art Figures AF012 1/6 scale Soldiers Of Fortune 2 12-inch figure will come with a 1/6 scale head sculpt, 12-inch figure body, black hoodie, black combat pants with knee pads, Black Tactical Vest, Holster, gloves, black beanie (cold cap), Milkor MGL 140 grenade launcher, 40mm grenade x 6, M9 pistol, Remington M870 Shotgun with 3 shotgun shells, HUGE knife

I hope to see improved head sculpt, and more accessories.. coz the vest looks empty.
This is a great looking figure but I've noticed that all Art Figures sculpts have the same nose and it tends to throw off the likeness of otherwise really good sculpts. Fortunately, if they decide to do a Sin City Marv figure (to go along with their Hartigan) that nose will be spot on. Really looking forward to this figure as I feel he was the only really interesting character from The Expendables.
Picked up Statham's character, hope they make Li and Cruz's too, if they're around that same price.
