"Repulsor ON!" Tony Stark the Mechanic 12-inch figure from Iron Man 3 by Hot Toys - Review IV

Most likely my last and final post / review of the Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series 1/6 scale Iron Man 3: Tony Stark the Mechanic 12-inch limited edition collectible action figure. This is why I enjoy collecting 12-inch action figures more than statues and smaller sized plastic molded figures. Most statues are expensive (to me anyway), cast from stone and being statues, are stiff, rigid and non pose-able which means that one toy blog post will more or less cover it. This particular figure from Hot Toys took me four posts to cover all the different aspects before I am satisfied. That's because there are so many variations that can be had with this figure and the pose-ability adds another dynamic dimension to it, not to mention the newly developed and specially designed Hot Toys Advanced body (which stands approximately 30 cm tall) with over 30 points of articulation including LED light on chest (battery operated chest arc reactor) covered in my part 1 review HERE.

The thing with the smaller scale action figures is that most of them are cast and molded in plastic with all their costumes and gear molded as one-piece before cuts are made to their body parts to enable articulation. That loses the realistic appeal for me especially since 1/6 scale figures are clothed / outfitted in fabric costumes / uniforms or can be even clad in armor if required. Review III: 1/6 scale Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark the Mechanic from Iron Man 3 by Hot Toys

This is the Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series 1/6 scale Iron Man 3: Tony Stark the Mechanic 12-inch figure fully kitted and ready to assault the Mandarin Mansion. After reviewing the box packaging and the specially designed Hot Toys Advanced body (which stands approximately 30 cm tall) with over 30 points of articulation including LED light on chest (battery operated chest arc reactor) in the part 1 review HERE and all the wonderful 1/6 scale gear and accessories that come with this figure HERE, it's finally time to put both figure and accessories together for the complete look :)

Tony Stark may not have his Iron Man suit but he proves that he is still pretty much the superhero as he takes down the Mandarin all by himself in the 2013 movie "Iron Man 3". Relying on his courage and the desire to do the right thing and bring the Mandarin to justice, Stark conjures up a whole array of home-made weapons from parts and pieces bought from the local D.I.Y. store in preparation for his assault on the terrorist's fortress, guarded heavily by a bunch of armed thugs. In the 2013 superhero film "Iron Man 3", after discovering where the Mandarin is holding out (Stark traces the Mandarin to Miami), Tony infiltrates his headquarters using improvised weapons. Earlier when Harley, a precocious 10-year-old boy whose garage Tony Stark uses to stash his Mark 42 armor suit, asks who he is, Tony replies: The Mechanic.

And this is my second part review of Hot Toys 1/6 scale Iron Man 3: Tony Stark the Mechanic 12-inch Limited Edition action figure, showcasing all the wonderful accessories that come with this Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series figure after having shown how awesome the new Hot Toys TrueType Advanced body (which stands approximately 30 cm tall with over 30 points of articulation) with battery operated LED light on chest (Tony Stark's chest arc reactor) is in the previous post HERE.

Here's the Hot Toys 1/6 scale Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark 12-inch figure as seen in the Iron Man 3 movie wearing the Augmented-cognition headset with holographic effects. Pre-order Enterbay 1/6 Hong Kong Firefighter 12-inch figures (Nicholas Tse & Shawn Yue)

As the Light Goes Out is a 2014 Hong Kong-Chinese disaster film directed by Derek Kwok, and ENTERBAY is proud to present the museum-like high end collectible figurines from this movie. There will be 3 characters in total from this movie collection, but third one will not be released until Q2 2014, and we are now introducing the first two characters:  Sam (starring Nicolas Tse) Senior Station Officer figurine and Chiu (starring Shawn Yue) Station Officer figurine

Each figurine will features the following items: Two head sculpts design, one is the museum-like portrayal of the actor; and the other head sculpt is with a firefighter mask. There is an LED installed inside the mask in order re-create the atmosphere from the movie scene. The actor head sculpts are hand-painted with newly developed "multi layer" paint application.

Review 1: Hot Toys 1/6 scale Iron Man 3: Tony Stark the Mechanic 12-inch Ltd Edn action figure

This was originally promoted as the Hot Toys 1/6 scale "Iron Man 3" Tony Stark (Mandarin Mansion Assault Version) 12-inch figure - see the preview pictures HERE - but has since been renamed "Iron Man 3: Tony Stark the Mechanic" figure.

In the 2013 superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Iron Man, Tony Stark's home is completely destroyed by the Mandarin's forces and he escapes to rural Tennessee in the Iron Man Mark 42 armor suit, following a flight plan from his investigation into the Mandarin. Stark's experimental armor lacks sufficient power to return to California, and the world believes him dead. Tony Stark has to depend on his wits instead of his armor suits to overcome his shortcomings (including post traumatic stress disorder caused by the events of "The Avengers" where he had a near-death experience) and becomes an American James Bond type figure when he assaults the Mandarin Mansion in a bid to stop the terrorist.

This is the recently released Hot Toys 1/6 scale Iron Man 3: Tony Stark the Mechanic 12-inch Limited Edition action figure with authentic and detailed fully realized likeness of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark in the Iron Man 3 movie, including Battle damaged head sculpt with movie-accurate facial features with detailed beard, wrinkles and skin texture. What's more? It features the Hot Toys Advanced body (which stands approximately 30 cm tall) with over 30 points of articulation including LED light on chest (battery operated). Review III: VTS 1/6 scale The Revenger (Ray Stevenson Punisher War Zone) 12-inch figure

Here are pictures taken of the VTS Toys 1/6 scale The Revenger 12-inch action figure armed with the 1/6 scale Smith & Wesson Model 500 Performance Center Magnum revolver with a Knight's Armament RIS setup, a tactical flashlight, a laser, and a black suppressor installed. I have already covered this VTS Toys Revenger figure's box packaging and contents HERE, followed by pictures of the fully kitted out figure HERE but because he has quite a number of weapons included, I just had to post pictures of him with the specially customized one-of-a-kind 1/6 scale S&W revolver.

If I haven't already said how great this figure is, let me reiterate again: "This is a DAM fine figure!" Pardon the pun but since DAM Toys is also VTS Toys, you can be assured of quality and highly detailed gear and accessories which VTS doesn't disappoint, including movie accurate weapons. Art Figures had already released their version of this 1/6 scale Ray Stevenson Frank Castle Punisher War Zone 12-inch figure  in 2011 (you can see my review and pictures HERE and HERE) but this VTS Revenger figure seems to fare better in terms of gear, accessories and weapons. 1/6 Fat Boy Slim? Nah! It's ZCWO 1/6 PTU Hong Kong Police Tactical Unit - Tong (casual version)

ZCWO has already previewed a version of this character "Tong" in full PTU uniform with gear and accessories HERE. The 12-inch figure is based on the 2003 Hong Kong crime thriller film "PTU: Police Tactical Unit" with Hong Kong actor Lam Suet (Chinese: 林雪) playing the role of an Organised Crime and Triad Bureau Sergeant Lo Sa who loses his service revolver after he was assaulted by a group of triad members. This is a variant version based on the post scuffle appearance after he was roughed up by the thugs and losing his revolver! It is a collaboration figure between ZCWO and Milk Cargo (now that's what I call "milking it" LOL) and it's supposed to be a limited edition collectible figure.

It's nice to see an Asian head sculpt once in a while and this one even comes with a "fat" body suit to complete the look. You have to be a big fan of the character or the movie to even want to consider this and obviously this limited edition figure is targeted at very small market because i don't know of many people / collectors who would be eager to grab their hands on this fat boy. VTS Toys 1/6 scale The Revenger 12" figure aka Ray Stevenson Punisher War Zone Review II

Here's the VTS Toys 1/6 scale The Revenger 12-inch action figure fully kitted out, assembled with all his gear and accessories, all ready to take on the bad guys and avenge the deaths of his family. After all, this VTS Revenger figure is based on the Marvel comics character Frank Castle, a vigilante who employs murder, kidnapping, extortion, coercion, threats of violence, and torture in his war on crime. Driven by the deaths of his wife and two children, who were killed by the mob during a shootout in New York City's Central Park, the Punisher wages a one-man war on the mob and all criminals in general by using all manner of conventional war weaponry.

The Punisher's brutal nature and willingness to kill made him a novel character in mainstream American comic books in 1974. By the late 1980s, he was part of a wave of psychologically troubled antiheroes and was featured in several monthly publications, including The Punisher War Journal, The Punisher War Zone, and The Punisher Armory. Despite his violent actions and dark nature, the Punisher has enjoyed some mainstream success (although toned down) on television, making guest appearances on Spider-Man: The Animated Series and even The Super Hero Squad Show. In feature films, Dolph Lundgren portrayed the Punisher in 1989, as did Thomas Jane in 2004, and Ray Stevenson in 2008.

This 1/6 scale Revenger figure is definitely inspired by Ray Stevenson's portrayal of the Frank Castle character from the 2008 "Punisher war Zone" movie, from the head sculpt which bears a striking resemblance to actor Ray Stevenson to his getup / outfit (most significantly the all important body armor with the skull print. The skull is the Punisher's signature, just as the shield is Captain America's) including the weapons he has on him. Scroll down to see the rest of the pictures :)

Review 1: VTS Toys 1/6 scale The Revenger 12" figure aka Ray Stevenson Punisher War Zone

This is the recently released VTS Toys VM-009 1/6 scale The Revenger 12-inch figure (last mentioned in my toy blog post "First Haul of 2014" HERE). VTS (Virtual ToyS) is actually the non-military arm of DAM Toys (one and the same company). VTS became DAM Toys halfway through releasing the Black Hawk Down 12-inch figures and have never looked back since. So quality is something you can be assured of.

VTS Toys 1/6 scale The Revenger 12-inch figure is another chance for collectors to get their hands on a "Punisher: War Zone" Ray Stevenson as Frank Castle / The Punisher 12-inch figure if they had missed out on the earlier released, much talked about and much sought after Art-Figures: SAVES "Punisher: War Zone" 12-inch Figure (check out my earlier reviews HERE and HERE). DAM Toys 1/6 scale Gangsters Kingdom Spade trio: The Terrible Threesome - Spade J, 2 and 3

Always nice to have group shots :) here are the three DAM Toys 1/6 scale Gangsters Kingdom Spade 12-inch figures released so far (from left to right) - Spade J, Spade 3 and Spade 2. Spade J is a stylized / animated Jason Statham (reviewed HERE) and Spade 2 is a stylized / animated Vinnie Jones (pictures HERE). Spade 3, the latest to be released, looks a lot like Wayne Rooney without the balaclava mask / hood (pictures of the 1/6 scale Rooney head sculpt posted in my toy blog HERE).

While Spade J and Spade 2 came dressed in street clothes / fashion, Spade 3 is dressed more in military garb, making him look more like a mercenary than a street thug. The Woodlands camouflage pants can stay but maybe a change in the vest from the current ACU Waistcoat one would make a difference. I got interested in artist Jason Freeny's work when I came across images of his anatomy of the Gummy Bear in 2D. Then I saw that he had produced 3D versions of his Gummi Bear Anatomy Puzzle toy in collaboration with 4D Master puzzle / toy maker. That really got me all excited but alas, the toys were all sold out and out of stock by then :( Then last year I was given a chance to take part in a facebook contest where Freeny would pick out only 6 people out of the many that put in their bid for this limited signed edition clear 41 parts Gummi Bear anatomy puzzle toy in a lottery style draw. First Haul of 2014: Killer Instinct Sam, Revenger, End Walker plus Funko Pop Batman and Robin

This was my first haul of 2014. I got the OE (original effect) 1/6 scale Killer Instinct "Mechanical" SAM 13.5-inch female action figure, VTS Toys 1/6 scale The Revenger 12-inch figure (basically Ray Stevenson as the Punisher from the "Punisher: War Zone" movie), MC Toys 1/6 scale The End Walker 12-inch figure (inspired by Denzel Washington's character in the 2010 film "The Book of Eli") and Funko Pop Heroes Batman and Robin from the classic TV series.

Incoming: DID 1/6 scale LAPD SWAT 12-inch figure with Ryan Gosling head sculpt - NICE!

There have been quite a number of 1/6 scale S.W.A.T. figures released over the years but none as detailed, complete and updated as this latest preview by DID. This is one of the most impressive SWAT sets ever announced. This guy is loaded with a ton of tactical gear that I haven't seen on previous SWAT figure releases.

DID's 1/6 scale LAPD SWAT 12-inch figure comes fully equipped with everything you can almost imagine (except the kitchen sink) and is the most modern and updated S.W.A.T. figure I've ever come across. I've collected quite a number of S.W.A.T. 12-inch figures over the years (see my post HERE) with the most recent being the Hot Toys 12-inch GCPD (Gotham City Police Department) S.W.A.T. figure (pictures HERE) but nothing beats this latest offering by DID.

DAM Toys 1/6 scale The Gangsters Kingdom Spade 3 "Bernie / Pence" 12-inch figure Review II

Here's the recently released DAM Toys 1/6 scale The Gangsters Kingdom "Spade 3 aka Bernie nickname Pence" 12-inch figure fully dressed with all his gear and stuff as shown in the earlier post HERE. Gangsters Kingdom "Spade 3 aka Bernie nickname Pence" is wearing ACU Waistcoat (with hood) over his black Long sleeve T-shirt (sweater), Woodlands camouflage trousers and belt plus brown boots. His 1/6 scale accessories include black balaclava with skull print, silver necklace with chain, right hand wrist band, left hand long wrist Braces, waist pouch for storing his pistol and spare pistol magazines, axe (tomahawk) with holder, Remington 870 pump action shotgun with sling and Butt stock ammo holder (for shotgun cartridges).

This figure is very CoOL and I dig it a lot. Spade 3 may be dressed less in street clothes like the previous two figures, DAM Toys first Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade J 12-inch figure (reviewed HERE), and Spade 2 (pictures posted HERE) but it's still a nice mix / mishmash of items. The highly detailed sculpt and paint shadowing reveal the billionaire playboy’s muscular physique, trained to the peak of human perfection and highlighted by the skin-tight Batman outfit. The detail on the Dark Knight is just as good as it was on the original version, with expert touches including the belt, swirling cape, and of course the stern head sculpt. Meanwhile, the new black and gray costume colors lend a darker, grittier look to Batman that makes him blend in even better with the night.

Here comes another great news to share with folks who live in Northern Cali, Rei will be displayed at the upcoming event "Clash of the Titans" in San Francisco, here are some photos we like to share with you.

I've already reviewed AX2's "Boom!" Series Collection #2 1/6th scale Rei 12-inch post-apocalyptic figure earlier in my toy blog HERE, HERE and HERE. AX2 has taken it a step further and created a diorama scene based on the illustration on the cover of their Rei box packaging which is pretty neat and this goes on display in San Francisco at the upcoming "Clash of the Titans"  event. Get the Kotobukiya 1/6 scale Man of Steel Superman For Tomorrow ArtFX Statue at BBTS

Following the recent releases of classic DC Comics characters in the full size ARTFX Statue scale (including Batman Black Costume and The Joker), Kotobukiya returns to the Man of Steel himself for a special presentation portraying an iconic appearance: SUPERMAN FOR TOMORROW! In the 2004-2005 twelve issue story arc written by Brian Azzarello, Superman faced some of his most difficult times as he investigated the worldwide Vanishing, dealt with an alternate reality Earth, and faced off against mysterious villains. "For Tomorrow" is most famous for its incredible artwork by DC superstar Jim Lee, and that is the inspiration for this all new statue.

Superman stands in one of his most iconic heroic poses, standing tall with legs apart and hands balled into fists at his sides. The Man of Steel is vigilant for any threats, his head angled to the side as his enormous cape flows dramatically in the wind behind him. Superman has never looked better thanks to the highly detailed sculpt that displays his powerful physique as well as the distinctive elements of his costume, from the intricately defined muscles of his torso, arms, and legs to the creases in his boots, the subtle belt, and of course all of the movement and texture of the cape. "Big Blue" is resplendent in blue, red, and yellow, capturing the look and feel of his traditional costume. Befitting the serious tone of For Tomorrow, Superman's angular Jim Lee artwork-inspired face captures his incredible intensity and focus while still including the required spit curl and flowing black hair.

OE (original effect): 1/6 scale D-04 Oborodzuki (おぼろ月) & D-05 Deiji (デイジー) for Reborn

OE (original effect) has given us a glimpse of their D-04 Oborodzuki (おぼろ月) and D-05 Deiji (デイジー) clothing / outfit sets intended for their OE Reborn body. The List includes 1/6 scale Kimono, Belt, Brooch. They are supposed to fit with all 1/6 scale figures but Best for OE Reborn body.

The kimono (着物) is a Japanese traditional garment. The word "kimono", which literally means a "thing to wear" (ki "wear" and mono "thing"), has come to denote these full-length robes. The standard plural of the word kimono in English is kimonos, but the unmarked Japanese plural kimono is also sometimes used.

Preview Hot Toys "Iron Man 3" 1/6th scale Starboost (Mark XXXIX) 12" Collectible Figure

The Starboost (Mark XXXIX) suit has stood out from the crowd since its introduction in Iron Man 3. Its cool space suit design with a mixture of white, gold, and black colors has helped it become a fan favorite among all the suits from the “House Party Protocol”.

Review 1: DAM Toys 1/6 scale The Gangsters Kingdom Spade 3 12" figure (Wayne Rooney?)

This is too DAM CoOL :) In this first part review of DAM Toys third Gangsters Kingdom 12-inch figure, I've posted 35 pictures! I'm just digging every new figure that is being released from this series and this third one is no exception.

This is the recently released DAM Toys 1/6 scale The Gangsters Kingdom "Spade 3" 12-inch figure. Having already gotten DAM Toys first Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade J 12-inch figure (reviewed HERE), followed up by Spade 2 (pictures posted HERE), this is the third figure to be released - Spade 3!

Sega "Aliens: Colonial Marines" Collector's Edition 8-inch (20cm) tall Power Loader Figurine

Let's POWER Up for the New Year 2014 :)

This rather detailed Power Loader and Xenomorph NPVC Collectible figurine came with the Sega "Aliens: Colonial Marines" Collectors Edition pack. Pack includes the game and additional USCM Dossier with Mission Brief, USS Sephora schematic, recruitment card, LV-426 Recon photo, USCM iron-on badges and Certificate of Graduation.

I was only interested in the mini statue that is the Collectors Edition 8-inch (20cm) tall Power Loader with Xenomorph Figurine :)

The packaging itself is rather eye catching with a swarm of alien Xenomorphs surrounding the box and looking like they are ready to pounce and attack the lone Marine figure in the seat of the Power Loader. The USCM Marine already has one Xenomorph climbing on the Power Loader and about to inflict some serious damage on the human in the machine. What will the outcome be?
