The younger daughter of history professor John Grey and his wife Elaine, Jean Grey was 10 years old when her mutant telepathic powers first manifested after experiencing the emotions of a dying friend. Her parents took her to be treated by Professor Charles Xavier. Eventually, using her telekinetic powers, Jean was a founding member of Xavier’s team of mutant trainees the X-Men as Marvel Girl. Hot Toys "Iron Man 3" 1/6th scale Die-cast Iron Patriot 12-inch Figure in Superhero Landing Pose

One of the wonderful privileges of having a toy blog is that by putting yourself out there, you get like-minded people who share the same passion reaching out to you from across the globe and they care enough to point out things you missed out or have erred in some way. Just this week, Leonard Leslie Pujiono reached out and told me that in my action figure review of the Hot Toys MMS195-D01 "Iron Man 3" 1/6th scale Die-cast Iron Patriot 12-inch Collectible Action Figure, I had said that the Iron Patriot 12-inch Collectible Action Figure was unable to achieve the famous superhero landing pose (see the entry HERE). He even sent me beautifully taken pictures of Hot Toys Iron Patriot in the landing pose which are now shared here with his kind permission for all to admire and enjoy.

Seeing the Iron Patriot figure in this pose also confirms that the recently released and reviewed Hot Toys MMS300-D11 Movie Masterpiece Series Die-cast "Avengers: Age of Ultron" 1/6th scale Iron Man Mark XLV Collectible Figure (see the action figure review post HERE, HERE and HERE) should be able to achieve this same landing pose as well as both die-cast Iron Man figures have the same basic construction and body type with clever engineering to allow for more flexibility in posing. This is the closest I think both Iron suits can come to the famous superhero landing pose which can be seen in almost all of the superhero films these days. It is almost mandatory that the producers include a superhero landing pose in at least one scene in any superhero movie.

Coming back to this Hot Toys Iron Patriot landing pose. In most angles (especially from the right side), the pose is perfect except when seen from the front or left side - scroll down to see the pics which are beautifully taken. In my humble opinion, I find that the left leg is too much to the side which wouldn't have been able to absorb the impact of the landing. Ideally (for me), the left leg should be more to the front and closer to the body with the body a little hunched up and compacted - see pictures HERE of the Phicen Limited 1:6 scale Super-Flexible 12-inch Male Seamless Body to have an idea of what I mean. But hey, that's just OCD me. This is as good as it gets :) Once again, a BIG Thank You to Leonard Leslie Pujiono for the awesome and stunning pics.

PLAY TOY P013 1/6th scale Monster Hunter 12-inch figure aka Hugh Jackman Van Helsing

Van Helsing is a 2004 American dark fantasy action-adventure film directed by Stephen Sommers. It stars Hugh Jackman as vigilante monster hunter Van Helsing, and Kate Beckinsale as Anna Valerious. The film is an homage and tribute to the Universal Horror Monster films from the 1930s and 1940s (also produced by Universal Studios which were in turn based on novels by Bram Stoker and Mary Shelley), of which Sommers is a fan.

The eponymous character was inspired by the Dutch vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing from Irish author Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. Distributed by Universal Pictures, the film includes a number of monsters such as Count Dracula, Frankenstein's monster and werewolves in a way similar to the multi-monster movies that Universal produced in the 1940s, such as Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man and House of Dracula.

DID 1/6th U.S. Army 2nd Armored Division Military Police "BRYAN" figure aka Ross Geller

The 2nd Armored Division ("Hell on Wheels") was an armored division of the United States Army. The 2nd Armored Division was formed at Fort Benning, Georgia on 15 July 1940. It was originally commanded by Major General Charles L. Scott, with Colonel George S. Patton in charge of training. Scott was promoted to command the I Armored Corps in November of that year, which put Patton, now a brigadier general, in command of the division. The division played an important role during World War II in the invasions of North Africa and Sicily and the liberation of France, Belgium, and the Netherlands and the invasion of Germany.

Military police (MP) are law enforcement agencies connected with, or part of, the military of a state. The status of military police is usually prominently displayed on the helmet and/or on an armband, brassard, or arm or shoulder flash.

The head sculpt has an incredible likeness to David Schwimmer who played Ross Geller in the NBC sitcom Friends. He also played Captain Herbert M. Sobel in Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks' HBO World War II miniseries Band of Brothers, a role not suited for him due to the fact that as Ross Geller, David Schwimmer was a fan favorite and Captain Herbert M. Sobel wasn't popular for his hard and cruel ways.

Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, cat burglar Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Corey Stoll portrays Darren Cross / Yellowjacket: A former protégé of Pym's, who takes over his mentor's company and militarizes a similar version of the Ant-Man technology to create the Yellowjacket suit.

King Arts DFS063 1/9th scale YellowJacket 22cm tall action figure from Ant-Man movie features Ultra High Mobility which allows for dynamic poses with nice detailing and texture. Figure is equipped with 3 different style hands and Figure Stand for displaying a variety of moves!

It's too bad Hot Toys did not go on to produce the 1/6th scale YellowJacket figure even though it was shown at various toy conventions (see my toy blog post HERE). I guess the market feedback wasn't great and Hot Toys wasn't sure if it could make money from the figure's release. As they say in the world, "No money, no honey."

KSK Kommando Spezialkräfte (Special Forces Command, KSK) is an elite special forces military unit composed of special operations soldiers handpicked from the ranks of Germany's Bundeswehr and organized under the Rapid Forces Division. KSK has received many decorations and awards from NATO, the United States and its affiliates and KSK operatives are frequently requested for joint anti-terror operations, notably in the Balkans and Middle East.

From 1973, until the KSK’s formation in 1996, the West German (and later German) government assigned all counter-terrorist and special operations activities to the GSG 9, a highly trained police force created shortly after the hostage-taking that transpired during the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. Prior to 1973, the army’s Fernspäher (Long-Distance Reconnaissance), the navy’s Kampfschwimmer (Combat Swimmers/"Frogmen"), and (until 1989) the Special Weapons Escort Companies - Sonderwaffenbegleitkompanien were the only military units comparable to anything that other nations may have seen as dedicated special forces units. October 2016 Haul: 1/6th scale Rey & BB-8 Two-pack Set, ArtFigures DeadShot + Phicen M32

This is my October 2016 haul: Hot Toys MMS337 Star Wars: The Force Awakens 1:6 scale REY and BB-8 collectible figure set, Art Figures AF021 1/6th scale Dead Soldier 12-inch action figure and Phicen Limited PL2016-M32 1/6th scale Super Flexible Asian Male Seamless Body.

I have been pretty busy lately packing everything for the big move to the newer, smaller place which should be ready in December. Hence the lack of reviews lately :( Many figures will have to go as the display space will be greatly reduced but that hasn't stopped me from getting new stuff LOL. It will be mostly out with the old and in with the new as I'm quite the sucker for new things and the innovative ways 1:6 manufacturers (toy companies sound so wrong since the figures I collect don't fall under the TOYS category anymore) have come up with to produce collectible figures. Case-in-point would be the DollsOddSaga 1:6 scale "Outer Heaven" Exo-skeleton collectible figure which I have just reviewed on my toy blog HERE and HERE, the first of its kind with an working / articulated exo-skeleton attached to a 12-inch body.

Okay, back to the reveal just in case you think these are just empty boxes. It seems there are people who do just collect Hot Toys boxes although I think that's happening less these days. When Hot Toys first came on the scene, almost every figure would be sold out fast but these days, many Hot Toys figures can still be available at many sites because the take up rate is not as high as before.

Scream is a 1996 American slasher film written by Kevin Williamson and directed by Wes Craven. The film stars David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Matthew Lillard, Rose McGowan, Skeet Ulrich, and Drew Barrymore. Released on December 20, 1996, Scream follows the character of Sidney Prescott (Campbell), a high school student in the fictional town of Woodsboro, California, who becomes the target of a mysterious killer known as Ghostface. The film combined comedy and "whodunit" mystery with the violence of the slasher genre to satirize the cliché of the horror genre popularized in films such as Halloween and Friday the 13th.

"Untitled (Creature Series)" The World of Tim Burton: An Art Piece for Collectors by Hot Toys

Tim Burton is taking his international touring exhibition "The World of Tim Burton" to Hong Kong from November 5, 2016 – January 23, 2017. Hot Toys is honored to be invited to create a high-quality collectible art piece from Burton's 1980s drawing known as "Untitled (Creature Series)", one of the signature artworks in the exhibition.

"The World of Tim Burton: An Art Piece for Collectors" features a self-manipulating puppet creature which, adorned with Burton's characteristic stripe motif and composed of a simple color palette of black and white with a hint of red, is representative of one of the central themes of his work—that is, to be emotionally felt. DollsOddSaga 1:6 "Outer Heaven" Exo-skeleton collectible figure Review II (think "Elysium")

More pics of DollsOddSaga DOSN-002 1:6 scale "Outer Heaven" Exo-skeleton Collectible Figure, this time with the Electro-Magnetic Rail Gun. This figure is inspired by the character Max Da Costa portrayed by Matt Damon in the 2013 science fiction action thriller film Elysium. Max Da Costa has a powered exoskeleton surgically attached to him after he is hit by a lethal dose of radiation during an industrial accident. When I watched the film, I was thinking to myself how cool it would be to have a 1/6th scale version of Max Da Costa with a powered exoskeleton attached. I never would have imagined that a company could actually produce this figure and the best part of it all is, they weren't asking for some ridiculously high price for it either.

So now that I have the figure in hand, I really appreciate the nice details and the effort the company DollsOddSaga put in to make this figure possible. The pistons / cyclinders all work nicely and you really get a rather realistic and movie-accurate depiction of the Matt Damon Max Da Costa character in the exo-suit in 1/6th scale. That's what I love about this 12-inch action figure collecting hobby and this outstanding figure is certainly one of those that goes up there on my list of top ten figures for 2016 :) Enjoy the pictures of 1:6 Max Da Costa with the fictional "ChemRail" rifle which supposedly has a high rate of fire, and its high-velocity rounds can rip right through walls and shred enemies.

For over 3,000 years in a large number of cultures and nations, women have played many roles in the military, from ancient warrior women, to the women currently serving in conflicts, although the vast majority of all combatants in every culture have been men.
