Having already seen the box packaging of Hot Toys MMS Predators: Royce 1/6 scale collectible figure, the basic Royce (Adrien Brody) figure straight out of the tray and the accessories, gear and weapons he come with (see the previous post), now we see a kitted out Royce ready to take on the alien predators.
Before we even begin, you have to undo the vest and unzip it in order to put on the Shemagh scarf (neckerchief) Royce comes with. NOTE: The vest cannot be undone via unzipping it the conventional way i.e. the normal way we do it. There isn't a insertion pin nor retainer box at the end of this vest, it just stops! You have to undo the vest by loosening the straps at the side (see the Instruction Sheet I posted earlier). However, if you are not stripping Royce to check out his buff body, it's better to leave the vest alone as it will be quite time consuming to put it back on. That's just me saying ;p
Royce is wearing a white round neck tee (T-shirt) under the vest and light brown shirt. He has the muscular type body similar to the Hot Toys Terminator T-800 figure with the limited articulation at the arms due to the lack of a double-jointed elbow.
I did not follow Hot Toys instruction for putting on the neckerchief as it would be too bulky and from the still pictures I've seen from the film, Royce didn't wear the Shemagh scarf the way Hot Toys intended it. So here's a picture of how Royce wears the scarf around his neck as well as a fully loaded vest with the 16 Frag-12 shotgun shells included. You can also see where he puts his combat fighting knife and also the extra pouches he carries on his belt. There is another belt for his pants but there is now covered.
A closer look at the AA-12 drum magazine pouch attached to his belt on his back. No extra drum magazine inside though :(
Here's Hot Toys Predators: Royce armed with his combat knife. The gloved hands are very nicely done as well. Note the "wrist band" (don't know what else to call it) on his right forearm. This body offers very limited articulation and you cannot get the forearm to bend any further upwards (beyond 90 degrees).
In the picture below you can see Royce with the drop-down pistol holster attached to his right and machete sheath on his left thigh.
And this is Royce with the longer blade, a machete. I'm curious as to how Royce ends up with the exact same machete that Major Alan "Dutch" Schaefer and Private Billy Sole had from the first film.
The machete (or 'Marty Jannetty' in British colloquial rhyming slang) is a large cleaver-like cutting tool. The blade is typically 32.5 to 60 centimetres (12.8 to 24 in) long and usually under 3 millimetres (0.12 in) thick. In our local term, we call it the parang although the parang looks more crude but does a similar job as the machete.
The machete that Royce has is kept in a sheath secured to his left thigh, almost similar to the way Private Billy Sole carried his too.
Besides his two edged weapons, Royce has his trusty sidearm which is a modified M1911 semi-automatic pistol with a rather unique suppressor.
The M1911 pistol originated in the late 1890s and was the standard-issue side arm for the United States armed forces from 1911 to 1985. Due to an increased demand for M1911 pistols among Army Special Operations units, who are known to field a variety of M1911 pistols, the Army Marksmanship Unit began looking to develop a new generation of M1911s and launched the M1911-A2 project in late 2004. [source: wiki] The weapon is still in use today! That's really quite amazing considering how OLD this pistol is!

And here's the pistol kept in the drop-down holster attached to Royce's belt.
What's left to view is Royce's main primary weapon: the Auto Assault-12 (AA-12) automatic 12-Gauge shotgun (NEXT)

Alex, thanks for your detailed review..I enjoyed it!!
U R most welcome desmond :) i enjoyed posting these pictures as well CHEERS
Hi Alex,
thanks for the info...
The M1911 is truly an American Legend.. right next to the M1 Garand and the M16..
The fact that over 2.7 million pistols (source: wikipedia) were procured (juz by America alone) over its service life speaks for itself.
Btw, I've finally got down to starting my own toy blog.. do take a look and give me your comments..
Cheers... =)
WL
