May 4 is Star Wars Day or Medicom RAH Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker REVIEW

May 4 is called Star Wars Day (also sometimes known as Luke Skywalker Day) because of the popularity of a common pun spoken on this day. Since the phrase "May the Force be with you" is a famous quote often spoken in the Star Wars films, fans commonly say "May the fourth be with you" on this day. Punny, isn't it? :)

This is the Medicom Toy 1/6 scale RAH (Real Action Heroes) Star Wars Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker 12-inch figure, released in 2005. Luke came in the all black Jedi Knight outfit he wore in "Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi". There's also the gray vest he wears over the black long sleeve shirt, held together by his belt.

The belt has a hook for attaching his lightsaber when not in use. If only Medicom had included the rebel troop helmet (Endor style) and his camouflaged poncho, we'll be able to put Luke in virtually every costume he wore in "Return of the Jedi".

This Medicom Toy 1/6 scale RAH (Real Action Heroes) Star Wars Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker 12-inch figure also came with a brown Jedi cape (not shown) which has a wire running around the rim of the hood for more pose-ability.

The 1/6 scale boots made by Medicom Toy is very well done and fits snugly and nicely.

Close-ups of the Medicom Toy 1/6 scale Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) head sculpt. On January 11, 1977, one day before he was set to shoot one of the final scenes needed for Star Wars, Hamill was in a car accident in which he fractured his nose and left cheekbone. As a result of the accident, Hamill had scars on his face which were evident in the films after Episode IV.

Hence this is considered a "pretty boy" Luke because although the 1:6 headsculpt does resemble Mark Hamill and bears his likeness, he looked more rugged due to the accident.

The lightsaber that Luke wields in "Return of the Jedi" (ROJ) is a newly constructed one as he lost the one given to him by Obi-Wan Kenobi (along with his right hand) in the duel with Darth Vader on Cloud City in "The Empire Strikes Back" (ESB). Note also close-up of the nice boots :)

The Los Angeles City Council did declare May 25, 2007 as Star Wars Day, in honor of the May 25, 1977 release date of "Star Wars: A New Hope."
