When the Art-Figures: SAVES "Punisher: War Zone" 1/6 scale Figure was first released, the quality caught a lot of people by surprise and many were left scrambling to get their hands on the 12-inch Ray Stevenson as Frank Castle the Punisher figure. Unfortunately, because the figure was produced based on pre-order numbers and not many people gave a thought of pre-ordering it, the production number was small and supply was limited when it came out. Thus the secondary market price of the Art-Figures: SAVES "Punisher: War Zone" figure began to rise very quickly and it became a holy grail for many collectors.
Fast forward to the present and DAM Toys (under their other brand name VTS for Virtual ToyS) just released their version of the 1/6 scale Ray Stevenson as Frank Castle the Punisher figure from the 2008 "Punisher: War Zone" movie and BAM! they certainly knocked this one out of the ballpark. This recently released VTS The Revenger figure is way better than the previously released and highly sought after Art Figures SAVES Punisher figure but hey, that's just my humble opinion.
What better way to bring a point across than to show pictures of both VTS The Revenger 12-inch figure with Art Figures: SAVES "Punisher" figure standing side-by-side and let you see and decide for yourself how different each figure is and which one is better. By the way, from what I hear, VTS The Revenger figure is already selling fast and some shops are already sold out of this figure so don't wait too long to get yours. Scroll down to see all the pictures. Click on them for bigger and better views (especially the landscape oriented ones). Enjoy!
In the pictures below, Art Figures: SAVES "Punisher War Zone" 12-inch figure is on the left and VTS 1/6 scale The REvenger figure is on the right.
As I've mentioned before, VTS The Revenger 12-inch figure has all the movie accurate 1/6 scale weapons which is a big plus and the quality is really good too.
Click on the pictures for bigger and better views. You can see how the same set-up can be done so differently and I'm certainly liking the newer version by VTS a lot. The sentimental me still will not let go of the Art Figures SAVES figure either haha they look great together

Great comparison!
Maybe the perfect Punisher is a mix of VTS and AF. For the Head Sculpt and the vest i prefer Art Figure, for the rest VTS.
I prefer the art figures. The only parts worth upgrading are the dropdown holster with the magnum and the assault rifle with grenade launcher. Even the knife still isn't accurate - Sideshow offered the most accurate version with one of their GI-Joe figures. HT also did the OTHER Magnum - you just need to paint it silver.
Thanks for the comparison, eagerly looked out for one since days! Thanks! :)
Excellent side-by-side comparison. My Revenger figure came in this week and I agree with sampol77 that the head sculpt on the Punisher Saves is better because the paint job is so much more realistic. The Revenger head is good but the paint job plays down all the great detail and texture the sculptor put in.
I still love the figure though!!!
The Art-Figure is still one of my favs, in fact I didn't pickup the new one because of this. I think I picked or up for around $100 about 4 years ago, that price is unheard of now. Still the Revenger fig is solid, and happy for those who didn't scope up the first one.
"4 years ago"? Has it been that long?
Time flies when you are having FUN :) haha
While I like both the Art figures version is better, better head sculpt and paint apps and the vest is more accurate to the film as is the sweater, hell the VTS version even has the wrong skull. The only things better on the VTS version is the base rifle with the c-more sight and suppressor, the grenade launcher is wrong as they used a full size AG 36 launcher while a shorty airsoft version was used in the film they also didn't include enough ris panels there should be 4 not two. The knife is perfect as is the sheath it was a custom knife made for the film not sure what Cameron is talking about as I own a full size copy of the movie knife. Both companies got the leg holsters reversed and VTS used a completely wrong style for the 50 cal S& W Revolver. The revolver it's self is very nice and pretty damn close! The chamber does have too many rounds as the S& W is only a 5 shot but I am being picky LOL! That said being the Punisher nerd I am I did pick up the VTS version as well and will get it up to snuff in no time I hope...will have to repaint the head sculpt I think as it is a bit lacking in paint detail and the one on mine the skin tone is so dark he looks like he has a spray on tan!
Thanks for sharing Punisher75, that's the most comprehensive breakdown yet :) cheers
