Edward Scissorhands Preview by Hot Toys

UPDATED April 20, 2009: Full Review of Hot Toys MMS-82 Movie Masterpiece Series 1/6 scale fully poseable action figure of Johnny Depp as Edward Scissorhands HERE

Johnny Depp and Tim Burton are like two peas from the same pod, having made countless movies together. Having starred in "Platoon (1986)" as Private Gator Lerner, Johnny Depp has collaborated with director Tim Burton (famous for "Batman" & "Batman Returns") in films such as "Edward Scissorhands (1990)", "Ed Wood (1994)", "Sleepy Hollow (1999)", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Corpse Bride" in 2005. Tim Burton's 2007 film "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street", also starred Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in the leading roles, and won the award for Best Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) and Best Actor (Comedy or Musical) at the 65th Golden Globe Awards.

It's GREAT news indeed that Hot Toys will be producing Edward Scissorhands (perhaps to show Medicom how to do things right since Medicom's version sucked and their Sweeney Todd doesn't look any better!) And like they say,"A picture tells a thousand words."

To coin a phrase from Indy, "Leather! Why does it have to be leather?!" With the humidity and tropical temperature, don't know how long it'll stay intact before disintegrating :(

In other news, Johnny Depp will reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a fourth instalment of "Pirates of the Caribbean". He will also play Tonto in Jerry Bruckheimer's Lone Ranger (I'm a BIG fan of The Lone Ranger and this is one of the best news of the year!) and also the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's adaptation of "Alice in Wonderland".

I was really stoked about this figure at first. Then I noticed his hairdo reminds me of Amy Winehouse's beehive, lol. Shaun said HT didn't manage to get the license for the exact likeness?

I love Johnny Depp's oddball characters though, so I'll be picking up Sweeney Todd unless it's really unimpressive in-person.

hey michelle, long time no hear - ha! ha! I really dig his outfit and hands. Like you, I'm a big fan of Johnny Depp (especially the weird characters he portrays so well) so this is a MUST HAVE for me. Medicom's stuff pales in comparison though so I'm really not too sure about Sweeney - plus Sweeney only had his hair and shaver. Edward has scissors for hands ;p
