Brother Production "Dirty Johnny" (Bruce Willis as John McClane) REVIEW II

continued from an earlier post...

John McClane is a fictional character and the protagonist in the Die Hard series of films. He is portrayed by actor Bruce Willis in the four films, beginning with Die Hard in 1988. He is described as being a foul-mouthed, wisecracking, no-nonsense New York cop with an itchy trigger finger, an aversion to Eurotrash terrorists, and a never-say-die spirit. [source: wiki]

This is the recently released Brother Production Presents Natural Born Hero Series 001 New York Detective "Dirty Johnny" 1:6 scale 12-inch figure (worldwide limited to 150 pieces) with a very distinct Bruce Willis head sculpt. Here's a shot of him without his shirt, wearing just his undershirt (tank top / singlet), shoulder holster with Beretta 92FS pistol and a spare pistol magazine in the double magazine pouch, Police Badge, watch, pants with leather belt, socks and shoes.

In the third film, "Die Hard with a Vengeance", McClane is back in New York. He must solve a number of riddles and challenges put to him by terrorist Simon Peter Gruber (Jeremy Irons) in order to keep the bombs from going off.

As with all the die-hard films, John McClane (Bruce Willis) gets injured, dirtied, thrown about, bashed but never dies, always rising above the situation until the end.

Bruce Willis' wisecracking, terrorist-foiling New York cop character John McClane has been described as "the anti-Bond" and has been called "an excellent casting choice as a sardonic action hero."

In April 2009, Entertainment Weekly ranked John McClane sixth in list of the top twenty "All-Time Coolest Heroes in Pop Culture". The magazine called the characters portrayed by Keanu Reeves in Speed, Wesley Snipes in Passenger 57, and Jean-Claude Van Damme in Sudden Death as "copycat descendants" of John McClane.

Bruce Willis is left-handed and most of his movie characters are left-handed as well. Brother Production did include a left-handed shoulder holster for their "Dirty Johnny" 12-inch figure BUT did not even include a left-hand pistol gripping hand even though they added four additional hands (see previous post)

So here's the Brother Production 1:6 scale "Dirty Johnny" (Bruce Willis as John McClane) New York Detective figure with left-hand shoulder holster holding his Beretta 92FS pistol in his right hand.

Close-up of the double pistol magazine pouch with one spare magazine. The other's in the Beretta 92FS.

In "Die Hard (1988)", John McClane is seen with a United States Marine Corps (USMC) tattoo on his upper left arm, a reflection of his service with the United States Armed Forces.

Unfortunately, Brother Production has included a tattoo of what looks like Jack Skellington instead.

Brother Production Natural Born Hero Series 001 New York Detective "Dirty Johnny" shoulder holster has the pistol grip facing upwards when the weapon is holstered i.e. the sidearm is upside down. I'm not even sure if that is correct.

Another view of the holstered upside-down Beretta.

And here's "Dirty Johnny"

This is definitely one of the best 1:6 scale Bruce Willis head sculpts ever to be released. There is no mistaking who this is supposed to be and Brother Production has managed to capture Bruce Willis likeness very well :)

In each of the four movies, "yippee-ki-yay, motherf**ker" is said right before John McClane (Bruce Willis) vanquishes the villain. But he did it with his left hand!

He'll join the rest of his buddies as well. They are all 1/6 scale Bruce Willis figures (Bruce Willis clones!) featured in my post "Will the real Bruce please stand up?"

How many more Bruce Willis lookalike figures will 1/6 manufacturers release? Only time will tell. I know of at least two (2) more Bruce Willis "Tears of the Sun" military figures out there.

Alex, just to let you know, i just receive it mine on Brazil, and the holster is allright (or, to better explanation, the gun DON´T is holded upside down).

Maybe is a problem with your holster?
