Real Steel is a 2011 movie about robots beating up robots in the ring. Forget about the mushy stuff of how father Charlie Kenton (Hugh Jackman) and son Max (Dakota Goyo) bond over getting their robot ready for fights. We are only there to see the robot action because in the film, human boxers have been replaced by robot boxers and most of the beating up happens in the ring where robot thrashes robot. Pretty cool stuff because animatronic robots were built for the film, and motion capture technology was used to depict the brawling of computer-generated robots and animatronics.
The film starts with one robot, Ambush and as the story develops, more robots enter the fray. Midas is a champion robot used to fight in the illegal circuit and Charlie uses Noisy Boy (which reminded me of Tetsujin 28-go which was dubbed and released in English as Gigantor) to fight Midas in one of the fights.
Having confirmed the release of Ambush and now taking pre-orders, ThreeA has revealed the second figure in their Showcase toy line to be Midas, produced by ThreeA. Like Ambush, he is made almost entirely out of injection plastics. He is produced in 1/6th scale and is fully articulated. No release date has been set.

ThreeA is trying to sell Midas as the opponent of 1/6th scale Ambush but unfortunately, the two never fought :( Bring on Noisy Boy! Now that's the right match up for Midas!

hmmmm I think I'm liking this a lot! I really enjoyed the movie in fact the entire family all watched it one day and we all thought it was a cool "family" movie actually. I'd like to know more about when and where these will be available. I think I might have found 2 new figures to collect!
