Hot Toys "The Dark Knight" 1/6 Gotham City Police Department S.W.A.T. Team Member

continued from previous post...

Here's a look at the Hot Toys "The Dark Knight" 1/6th scale Gotham City Police Department (GCPD) Special Weapons And Tactics (S.W.A.T.) team member as seen in the 2008 Christopher Nolan Batman film. Everything you see here in this post is from the Hot Toys Toy Fairs Exclusive "The Dark Knight" 1/6th scale Gary Oldman as Lt. Jim Gordon (S.W.A.T. suit version) Limited Edition 12-inch Collectible Figure Set (reviewed earlier HERE and HERE) except for the head sculpt ;p

I didn't want to put the helmet and googles on the Hot Toys 1:6 Lt Jim Gordon figure because he would still need to have a balaclava over his face to be accurate. So what I did was to switch the Hot Toys Jim Gordon head sculpt with this one for a complete S.W.A.T. look. This 1:6 head sculpt is from the Sideshow Collectibles 1:6 scale COBRA Saboteur Firefly 12-inch figure (see the pictures HERE) but it certainly looks just as good here as well.

Scroll down to see the turnaround views and more pictures of this Hot Toys "The Dark Knight" 1/6th scale Gotham City Police Department (GCPD) Special Weapons And Tactics (S.W.A.T.) team member which was previously 1:6 scale Lt Jim Gordon. Hot Toys Jim Gordon's head sculpt was used to kitbash a regular plain clothes police officer figure instead -  see my previous post. This way, I get two figures out of one purchase and I'm a happier man for it. See S.W.A.T. and Jim Gordon standing side-by-side at the end of this toy blog post.

I've shown pictures of Hot Toys Exclusive Lt Jim Gordon (S.W.A.T. suit version) in the earlier post HERE but a S.W.A.T. figure is not complete without helmet, goggles and mask. Now I'm very pleased with how this figure turned out with the right head sculpt switch.

This 1/6th scale Gotham City Police Department (GCPD) Special Weapons And Tactics (S.W.A.T.) team member is wearing ballistic helmet, tactical goggles, GCPD long sleeve vest under his S.W.A.T. uniform with belt, drop-down pistol holster, gas mask bag, knee pads and black combat boots. He has the S.W.A.T. flak vest over his uniform (S.W.A.T. suit) with S.W.A.T. patch worn on the upper left shoulder sleeve. He also has the Motorola radio attached to his vest with radio pouch on his belt as well as plasti-cuffs / plastic fasteners for restraining suspects.

The GCPD S.W.A.T. team features quite prominently in the Christopher Nolan films where in "Batman Begins (2005)", they converge on Arkham Asylum all ready to take down Batman who is deemed to be a vigilante who is operating outside of the law. Batman manages to escape capture by creating a diversion calling out all the bats from the Bat cave to swarm the entire building, causing much chaos and confusion.

In "The Dark Knight (2008)", the S.W.A.T. team is tasked with the duty of escorting Harvey Dent under police custody in order to lure the Joker out so that they can capture him. Guess the Joker had other plans.

In the DC Comics "Batman: Year One" written by Frank Miller and illustrated by David Mazzucchelli, a trigger-happy S.W.A.T. team is sent into an abandoned building to capture Batman after he is forced into it. Enraged as the team’s carelessly fired bullets injure several people outside, Batman beats the team into submission and, after using a device to attract the bats of his cave to him, he flees amid the chaos. Sounds familiar? That's because Christopher Nolan did use some of the story from "Batman: Year One" as material for his film.

So as you can see, S.W.A.T. teams and Batman don't always get along.

This looks a lot more like a properly attired and equipped S.W.A.T. team member than Hot Toys Jim Gordon could ever be. That's okay because in the process, I ended up with two more 12-inch figures in my ever growing collection :)

Hot Toys 1/6 GCPD S.W.A.T. team member is not as heavily loaded as the other 12-inch S.W.A.T. figures I have amassed over the years. Another Hot Toys S.W.A.T. member I have is the Hot Toys LAPD SWAT 12-inch figure (version 2.0) back when Hot Toys was still producing non-movie related figures. See my earlier post HERE for pictures.

IMHO The Sideshow Collectibles 1:6 scale COBRA Saboteur Firefly head sculpt (see the pictures HERE) fits in rather well here.

And here's Hot Toys "The Dark Knight" 1/6 scale Gotham City Police Department S.W.A.T. Team Member standing side-by-side with Hot Toys Lt. Jim Gordon. Two figures for the price of one ;p

Alex, well done kitbash there! Just out to do one myself, thanks for the inspiration.
I don't know if the head I ordered will fit the helmet though - went for the headplay head of Dwayne The Rock Johnson - needed the head anyways. The Firefly sculpt looks very fitting, but that had a sculpted balaclava on and seems very narrow.
Oh, by the way...seen my Gordon video review, in the middle of the vid you see a scene where I try to put on the helmet (see my latest blog post for the link). :-) Was hilarious! Cheers, Andre
