Zombieland is a 2009 American zombie comedy film directed by Ruben Fleischer from a screenplay written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The film stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin as survivors of a zombie apocalypse. Together, they take an extended road trip across Southwestern United States in an attempt to find a sanctuary free from zombies.
The main characters do not use each other's real names, but identify themselves using place names (Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita, Little Rock) that relate to them. Woodrow Tracy "Woody" Harrelson (that's his full name ;p) plays zombie killer Tallahassee, who is particularly violent in killing zombies. Tallahassee demonstrates a soft spot for his pet dog, killed by the zombies, as well as an affinity for Twinkies, which he actively tries to find.
This is my first part review of VTS (Virtual ToyS) 1/6 scale Zombie Killer 12-inch action figure which was released recently. Needless to say, you can see that this figure is inspired by the character of zombie killer Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) from the film "Zombieland". Scroll down to see the box packaging and contents (lots of pictures).
Box is pretty standard shoe-box design with the lid over the contents.
Life the lid and you see VTS (Virtual ToyS) 1/6 scale Zombie Killer 12-inch action figure lying snugly in the spongy foam main tray. I've bought VTS boxed sets in the past (see my previous reviews of VTS Stone Cold Killer HERE and VTS 1:6 City Detective Review HERE) but this is the first that I have bought which comes with a 12-inch figure body.
The accessories tray lies beneath the main tray at the bottom of the box. All items are nicely packed inside the foam and there's little chance of them coming loose and getting lost which is a good thing as some items are really small e.g. the 1/6 scale 12-gauge shotgun shells
Here's the VTS (Virtual ToyS) 1/6 scale Zombie Killer 12-inch action figure out of the box and stripped of his snakeskin jacket. I wanted to show what the figure is wearing underneath the jacket.
The figure has a gray long sleeved shirt, blue jeans with leather-like belt and cowboy boots.
Here are some pictures of VTS (Virtual ToyS) 1/6 scale Zombie Killer 12-inch action figure (most obviously inspired by Woody Harrelson's portrayal of Tallahassee in the 2009 film "Zombieland") sitting down and showing off his cowboy boots. You can click on the pictures for a bigger and better view :) NOTE: the chair is NOT included and is taken from my 1:6 kitbash stash (check out my post HERE)
Close-up pictures and different angle / profile views of the VTS (Virtual ToyS) 1/6 scale Zombie Killer head sculpt. Tell me this doesn't resemble Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee as seen in "Zombieland"
His eyes are looking slightly upwards and that poses a challenge when posing and taking pictures as he can look like he's rolling his eyes
One gripe I have are his hands which are a different skin tone with the rest of the body. The hands look jaundiced i.e. yellowish and non-human like :( Not a problem to switch out the hands but we shouldn't have to since we paid for the entire figure including hands right?
Here's a closer look at the 1/6 scale boots. They are actually "beet" or boot-feet i.e. there are no feet inside the boots. The ankle peg just goes straight into the boots, something that Hot Toys innovated in order to make the feet more realistic and to scale. This is in contrast to the early days of Hasbro's G.I. JOE 12-inch figures which have feet and you have to slip them into boots to wear them. Some 1:6 scale manufacturers / companies still do that so it all depends on what you are getting. It gets tricky when you want to kitbash a figure because you need to know what type of footwear you are looking for to fit your figure.
Here's a look at the VTS (Virtual ToyS) 12-inch Zombie Killer's 1/6 scale snakeskin jacket. You can click on the pictures for a bigger, better and closer view. The snakeskin effect is actually printed onto the fabric before it is cut up and stitched to make the miniature sized jacket for the figure. So don't expect real snakeskin when you purchase this ;p
The jacket is quite well made with all the working zippers and I'm quite amazed at how real the snakeskin looks. You have to touch it to realize that it's not real snake skin but just printed patterns on the fabric - pretty cool
Here are the 1/6 scale accessories that come with this VTS (Virtual ToyS) 1/6 scale Zombie Killer 12-inch action figure boxed set. Zombie killer Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) needs these items to kill zombies. Actually, in the film, he has much more in his arsenal but these are all we are getting from VTS: they include tactical vest, shotgun holsters (left and right), 870 shotgun x 2, shotgun shells x 4, double pistol magazine pouch x 2, M1911A1 pistol, P226 pistol, shotgun shell pouch, left and right hand holsters, cowboy hat
Close look at the 1/6 scale tactical vest
Armed with twin pistol-gripped Mossberg 500 Mariner Cruiser 12-gauge shotguns, Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) distracts a hoard of zombies in Pacific Playland in the final battle while Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) attempts to save Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) and Wichita (Emma Stone).
Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) fires dual wield with two pistols in the shootout at the amusement park. During the battle, Tallahassee has a Nickel M1911A1 in his right hand and a Nickel SIG-Sauer P226 in his left hand.
Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) seems happiest when he's dispatching zombies
Don't you wish VTS had included a 1/6 scale Twinkie as part of the set? That would have been the icing on the cake
