The Iron Patriot armor appears in the "Iron Man 3" film as the new paint scheme of James Rhodes's upgraded armor after being asked by President Ellis to be used as the U.S. government's "American hero" symbol thanks to A.I.M. in response to the events that occurred in The Avengers.
The movie-accurate Hot Toys "Iron Man 3" 1/6th scale Die-cast Iron Patriot Collectible Figurine is highly detailed and fully deployed, specially crafted based on the image of Don Cheadle as Iron Patriot in the movie, highlighting the highly detailed head sculpt, metallic red, white and blue star spangled armor, light-up functions and rotatable shoulder machine gun.

The packaging for Hot Toys MMS195-D01 "Iron Man 3" 1/6th scale Die-cast Iron Patriot 12-inch Collectible Action Figure is very nice and not the standard box packaging we have seen with the other Hot Toys MMS (Movie Masterpiece Series) figures – because this is die-cast and cost more so Hot Toys needed to show that this is worth it. There's no slip-case cover over a window display box. The package comes with a top and bottom cover. The top cover which is two-thirds the length of the box has a nice design of Iron Patriot in all blue with a hard plastic sheet overlay. The base of the box holds a foam box with "Iron Patriot" carved into it.
This isn't the first time Hot Toys has used the foam box to contain / hold the figure. The last time I saw this type of packaging by Hot Toys was back in August 2009 when I picked up the Hot Toys Collector's Edition MMS95 (Movie Masterpiece Series) 1/6 scale Terminator Salvation John Connor 12-inch action figure (reviewed HERE and HERE)
Opening the lid reveals the Hot Toys "Iron Man 3" 1/6th scale Die-cast Iron Patriot 12-inch Collectible Action Figure placed in the center with some of the accessories placed around it, including the all important fully realized 1/6 scale head sculpt with authentic likeness of Don Cheadle as Iron Patriot in the movie which was not included with the Hot Toys MMS Die-cast Series 1/6 scale War Machine Mark II Collectible Figure (see preview pictures HERE)
Another tray holds the rest of the 1/6 scale accessories: LED light-up figure stand with Iron Patriot nameplate and movie logo plus batteries which are packed separately. This is very important because previously Hot Toys packed the figure with the batteries inside and you know what happens when the batteries leak. If you don't know, check out my post from September 2011 titled "Hot Toy Collecting Tip #1: Remove ALL Batteries!" - link HERE
Here are the 1/6 scale accessories all laid out: Authentic and detailed fully realized likeness 1/6 scale head sculpt of Don Cheadle as Iron Patriot in the Iron Man 3 movie, two interchangeable masks / faceplates (one is fully closed and the other one is slightly opened), LED light-up figure stand with Iron Patriot nameplate and movie logo, five extra interchangeable palms: One (1) pair of open palms with light-up repulsors (white light, battery operated), One (1) pair of fists and one saluting palm / hand. As mentioned before, there is a container holding all the batteries for the light-up functions on Iron Patriot (with a tiny screw driver included), the rotatable shoulder machine gun which is mounted at the back and interchangeable left forearm armor with machine gun.
Close-up picture of the rotatable shoulder machine gun which is mounted at the back and interchangeable left forearm armor with machine gun.
The LED light-up circular figure display stand with Iron Patriot nameplate and movie logo requires three AAA batteries which are NOT included. The stand comes with a pillar and figure holding clip.
This is Hot Toys MMS195-D01 Movie Masterpiece Series Die-cast 1/6th scale Die-cast Iron Patriot 12-inch Collectible Action Figure from the "Iron Man 3" movie. In the comics, the Iron Patriot armor is used by Norman Osborn, but Osborn is part of the Spider-Man franchise, the rights of the characters are owned by Sony. The Iron Patriot is instead an upgraded version of the War Machine suit with an American flag motif to resemble Captain America.
The Hot Toys MMS195-D01 "Iron Man 3" 1/6th scale Iron Patriot 12-inch (Approximately 30 cm tall) Limited Edition Collectible Figurine specially features: Alternate helmeted head with light-up function and Over 36 points of articulations. The figure contains die-cast material with Metallic red, white and blue star spangled armor. LED-lighted eyes and RT on chest (white light, battery operated). Also has One (1) pair of palms / hands with improved articulations, movable fingers and light-up repulsors (white light, battery operated).
The articulated shoulder-mounted machine gun can be attached to the back and rotated 360 degrees
This Hot Toys MMS195-D01 "Iron Man 3" 1/6th scale Iron Patriot 12-inch Limited Edition Collectible Figure has a lot more articulation in the arms and shoulders as well as waist and legs. Hot Toys has designed the figure in such a way that by pulling down on some parts, you can extend the body parts and they can achieve much more articulation and movement than before. All the instructions are in the User Guide (this time, it's a 12-page booklet) and remember to always read the instructions before handling the figure. You don't want to break anything before even getting started.
Here's a closer look at the die-cast Iron Patriot with the waist in the normal position
And here's the Hot Toys die-cast Iron Patriot with the waist in the extended position. I believe the designs are to allow this Iron Patriot figure to perform the now famous Iron Man landing pose which Tony Stark executes in style. Even the regular 12-inch figure has problems executing this pose as demonstrated in my other post HERE where I did comparison of 1/6th scale 12-inch Action Figure Bodies: Hot Toys, X-Series etc to determine which is best.
See how much taller Iron Patriot got.
