Recently Announced: ThreeZero 1/6th scale CHAPPiE 12-inch collectible robot figure

Pre-order from Sideshow Collectibles

Chappie (stylized as CHAPPiE) is an American science fiction film directed by Neill Blomkamp. The screenplay, written by Blomkamp and Terri Tatchell, is based on Blomkamp's 2004 short film Tetra Vaal. The film stars Sharlto Copley, Dev Patel, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Sigourney Weaver, Hugh Jackman, and Watkin Tudor Jones (Ninja) and Yolandi Visser of the South African zef rap-rave group Die Antwoord.

It is sometime in the near future. In an effort to reduce the high crime rate in Johannesburg, the South African police force purchases armour-plated attack robots from weapons manufacturer Tetravaal, which prove successful in reducing crime. A mechanized police force patrols the streets and deals with lawbreakers -- but now, the people are fighting back. When one police droid is stolen and given new programming, he acquires the ability to feel and think for himself. While the robot, dubbed "Chappie (Sharlto Copley)," puzzles out human behavior, the authorities begin to see him as a danger to mankind and order; they will stop at nothing to ensure that Chappie is the last of his kind.

The fully-articulated 1/6th scale Chappie collectible (stands 12 inches / 30.5 cm tall) is available at www.threezerostore.com for 230 USD / 1780 HKD with International Shipping included in the price. The exclusive is cool but this time around I think I'll be going with the standard version. The more militarized version will fit my collection better methinks.

ThreeZero's stuff looks really cool, but the inconsistency of their releases turn me off.

People have been waiting and waiting for the Walking Dead figures to go with Michonne's pet zombies. Now they jump to Robocop, CHAPPiE, Mazinger, Berserk, Rooster Teeth, Breaking Bad, etc.

Expanding too fast and making so many announcements is not always good when you can't deliver in a timely fashion, imho.

Ah yes, the dreaded pre-order followed by months of waiting and silence. Companies that expand too fast don't seem to cope every well with the delivery timings after getting the pre-orders in. Production slows and delivery gets delayed for months.

Many collectors have actually stopped pre-ordering and would rather wait for the figure to be released before buying. Some can be had for even less than the pre-order price.
